INTRODUCTIONHuman resource management is one of the integral part of an organisation. They mainlywork into three major areas i.e. staffing in which they recruit new employees, providing benefitsand assigning task. Other than this, they keep an eye on their employees so as to identify whatkind of training programme is required for enhancing skills and knowledge. Sainsbury's is oneof the leading supermarket chain and it is ranked second in United Kingdom. There haveapproximately 1,415 shops in different location where around 181,900 employees are working inorder to increase their market value. In this report, the purpose and function of HRM andstrengths and weaknesses according to the different approaches is included. Apart from this,benefits of HRM practices in an organisation for both employer and employees. Key elements ofemployment legislation is also included in this report. TASK 1P1 Purpose and functions of HRMHuman resource management can be said as an important part of the company as its mainwork is to recruit employees of an organization according to their capabilities and jobrequirement. Other than this, they also provide training programmes and activities so as toincrease the knowledge of their workers. This will assist them in providing better services andfacilities to customers. Sainsbury's is a company that sells grocery items and this has benefitedthem in gaining superior position in market area. Some of the functions of HRM are given belowthat is helping the organisation in providing services as per the needs and wants of customersFunctions of Human Resource Management:Recruitment and Selection: This is one of the basic function of HRM department as theyconduct this process in order to fulfil the requirement of eligible candidates according to theskills and knowledge an individual acquires. Conduct Orientation: Under this programme a healthy conversation is conducted inwhich superiors explain all the terms and conditions of the organisation so that it can be easierfor fresh candidates to work effectively. Provides bonuses and benefits: Sainsbury's give bonuses and benefits to their employeesso as to retain the loyalty of their workers.
