INTRODUCTION
Human resource management is inclusive of operations like managing performance of
employees, providing guidance to them and offering training and development approaches
(Anwar and Abdullah, 2021). Present report is conducted on TESCO which is leading
organisation in retail industry. In this report discussion has been conducted on role of HR in
company.
MAIN BODY
A case study
Human resource management acts as a strategic approach in which HR managers
efficiently and effectively manage people within organizational workplace premises to
accomplish business goals and objectives and maximize the competitive advantage of the
company in the industry (Anwar and Abdullah, 2021). Human resource management is inclusive
of different types of practice such as talent management, compliance, workplace safety, training
and development, compensation and benefits, and more. Human resource management plays an
essential role in ensuring the quantity and quality of employees’ workplace and creating a
positive environment while motivating employees towards the accomplishment of organizational
objectives. Tesco is a multinational organization in which employees from different location
backgrounds, skills, and talents are effectively performing their roles and responsibility. In this to
manage a workforce on an efficient basis human resource manager of the company undertakes
various activities such as recruiting candidates, hiring the right employees, conduct and
disciplinary action, providing training and development courses, developing employee records,
conducting benefit analysis, and more. It has been identified that the human resource manager of
Tesco conducts a number of roles and responsibility which is defined below:
Provide career growth:
It is one of the most important responsibilities in which the human resource manager of
Tesco undertake opportunity to provide career growth opportunities to employees by helping
guide and guiding every employee (Sadler-Smith, 2021). The main aim behind this is to retain

talented and skilled employees for a longer period while enhancing their loyalty and commitment
to the organization. It has been identified that in this role human resource manager of Tesco
periodically checks employees to provide them guidance on their career path.
Support health and wellness:
The human resource manager of Tesco effectively supports the health and wellness of every
employee in organizational workplace premises. It has been identified that within the company
human resource manager focuses upon mental and physical illness and health issues of
employees (Black and Warhurst, 2021). Furthermore, it has been identified that human resource
managers also support employees if they are facing issues like health issues pregnancies, debt,
etc. With the help of providing support to employees in these circumstances, the human resource
manager provides a strong and efficient work environment which not only helps in supporting
employees but also enhances their commitment and sense of belongingness towards the
company.
Conduct benefit analysis:
It is one of the most strategic roles that has been played by the human resource manager
of Tesco. It has been evaluated that TESCO is a leading organization in the retail industrial
sector that provides a wide range of products and services to several consumers around the globe.
In this to stay competitive in a business environment the human resource manager of the
company effectively engages in the process of attracting the best and potential talent to enhance
organizational productivity and competitiveness in the industry. It has been evaluated that human
resource managers continuously investigate rival companies to identify their benefits and make
competitive strategies against them to make employees happy and retain them for a long period.
Training and development opportunities:
In this role, the human resource manager of Tesco effectively maintains employee
records while identifying their skill gap. This will help the human resource manager of the
company to provide significant training and development opportunities to employees to fill the
skill gap on an efficient basis (Greer, 2021). In addition to this, it has been identified that human
resource managers also make sure that they updating in policies according to the changes

TESCO managers undertake advantage of collaborative working practices to fulfill
company goals and vision in the best manner. In this human resource managers foster a sense of
responsibility by setting measurable goals and creating a judgment-free work environment.
Along with this they also encourage employees to socialize out socialize in which they conduct
various programs.
Thus, according to the above major analysis, it has been identified that the human resource
manager of Tesco undertakes various practices strategies, and techniques to motivate and guide
employees in an organization’s workplace premises. Furthermore, it has been evaluated that
company human resource manager with the help of Abraham Maslow motivation theory which is
a hierarchical theory illustrated by the pyramid and makes sure that all the basic needs of
employees with an organizational work premise are fulfilled from top to bottom (Fei, 2021).
With the help of this theory organization, HR managers make sure that employees are being
valued effectively as it is one of the most important and costly investments of the business. With
the help of taking advantage of this theory human resource manager of Tesco manage employees
in a well-defined and effective manner.

As per the above-mentioned report, it has been concluded that human resource management
plays essential role in an organisation as it helps in managing performance of employees
efficiently. Along with this, it has been evaluated that human resource manager maintain
