INTRODUCTION
Strategic human resource management is the process which is used
by business organisation to engage the employees with the motive to
retain them as it is beneficial for both employees and organisation.
This process help the HR department to establish strong relation with
the employees and to help them in improving and enhancing their
skills and abilities. The skilled employees would be able to carry their
business operations in effective manner which lead to increase in the
productivity and helps in achieving the desire goals and objectives.

There are different theories and concepts which help the
business organisation in building and enhancing their
operations with the use of strategic human resource
management. These theories and concepts are as follow-

Contingency theory

THEORIES
Universalistic Theory: This theory is related to the internal resources of the
business organisation and helps in improving and enhancing the performance to
carry the business activities in effective manner. With the use of this theory an
business organisation would be able to focus on formulating effective strategies
or plans which help the organisation in meeting its requirements and
accomplishing its goals and objectives. In context of ASDA, the HR department
will be able to frame the recruitment and selection process in most appropriate
manner. Moreover it helped the management of company to focus on brining
new and creative ideas which help the business organisation in increasing its
efficiency and productivity level.

THEORIES
This theory is also known as situation based theory that is
according to different prevailing situation in the organisation
different actions are taken. In the business environment the
uncertainties take place on frequent bases and company need
to be ready in advance to deal with them. In context of ASDA,
the implementation of this theory will help the higher
authorities to take effective decisions to deal with
uncertainties.
