1.1 Meaning of human-centred approach
Person-centred values can be defined as principles that help out service providers to put
values and interest of individual that receive care at the centre of everything (Manley and
Jackson, 2019). There are number of examples of person centred values that need to be
considered by service providers while dealing with service users within this approach such as:
privacy, choice of service users, dignity, respect, rights, independence and individuality. All
these values are being considered by service providers in healthcare when they use person centre
care approach.
1.2 Reasons to work with person-centred values
There are number of advantages that can be taken by both service users and service
providers by working with person-centred values. It is stated that when healthcare providers and
people within organisations work within person-centred way then it makes service users feel
valued, it boosts their confidence, self-esteem and skills as well. It makes people able to have
maximum control over decisions that can affect their lives. Other main reasons of working with
person-centred values is: It minimizes the risk of negativity, unfair treatment and negligence to
service users of health and social care services.
1.3 Importance of having risk taking ability for service users within human-centred
Risk taking is important within human-centred approach for individuals as it makes them feel
responsible. They are required to control their own destiny and it enables them in knowing what
they want from life and what they need to do. It allows individuals the freedom to make their
own choices and having control over lives and it has positive impact on their overall well-being
(Wang and et.al., 2018). When employees have this skill or ability to take risks then only they
can take opportunities to service to learn new things and improving relations with service users.
1.4 ways in which service users’ planning can lead to working as per human-centred way
Service users plan help out service providers in knowing their needs and personal values.
By taking into consideration this service users plan, health care service providers can make their
person-centred approach successful as they can make use of service users' choice and help them
out to convey their personal aspirations and goals. Individuals can use this plan as effective
device in person-centred way because this plan contains all; important information that are
required by service providers such as: service users' preferences, wishes and needs. So, by using
all this information, service providers can be person-centred and can satisfy service users.
