Human Resource Development is the framework of helping employees which develops their
personal and organizational skills, knowledge and abilities. HRD is one of the most important
functions of human resource departments. Human Resource Development provides opportunities
to employee to take the advantage such as employee training, employee career development,
mentoring, success planning and the others (Noe, Hollenbeck, Gerhart, and Wright, 2017). The
main focus of the human resource development is on building the workforce strong so that the
organization and employee can attain their work goals in service to consumers. In this paper, the
discussion is made on the topic of “human resource development”.
Human resource development always helps the organization to achieve the strategic goals
constantly even while changing environment. It has been found that the strategic goals of the
organization is to gain the competitive advantage in the market and also becomes the leader in
the industry. For example- Starbucks also wants to become the leader in the market. The main
strategic goals of the company have specific financial and non-financial objectives and its main
aims to achieve objective all over a specified period of time (Starbucks, 2019a). The strategic
goals are developed by the organization as per the market situation and condition. Human
resource developments are the activities from which the organization can attain their strategic
goals.
Human resource development is the process in which the organization organizes the training and
development programs. These programs provide the opportunity to the employees of the
company to develop their personality and their knowledge that is necessary for them to grab the
new opportunities at the workplace such as promotion, increment and the others. In the training
and development program, employees are trained according to their work or responsibilities
towards the organization. It is fact that the trained employees perform their performances more

appropriately and efficiently as compare to the non-trained employee. The performance of
employees will enhance at the workplace due to which the organization has the opportunity to
supply the services with the quality and quantity. The services deliver with the quantity and
quality support the organization to beat its competitors in the market. In short, it can be said that
the improving performance of employee build the high brand image in the market due to which
the company can gain the competitive advantage as their competitors does not have that much of
image in the market. Training and development is one of the functions of human resource
department that has to perform by the department on the necessary basis so that the organization
can attain the higher level of success in the business (Bratton, and Gold, 2017).
Development program is organized with the motive of developing the personality of the
employees. Developed personality of an individual enhances the confidence which is important
for the company in the market. The employee with the high confidence represents their company
in a well manner in front of investors, researchers and the others those are interested in the
information of the organization. The employee can easily influence the investors to invest in the
company due to which the company has the opportunity to expand the business at the
international level. Expansion is one the strategic goals of the company that can be achieve by
implementing the SHRM practices at the workplace (Starbucks, 2019b).
Management development is a systematic process of training and growth by which the
managerial personnel gain and apply skills, knowledge, and attitude to manage the work in the
organization. It helps to maintain the work effectively and efficiently (Wilton, 2016). At the
workplace of Starbucks, the manager of the company implements their skills, knowledge, and
attitude to manage the work in their organization effectively and efficiently. Managing the
activity of the organization helps to gain the competitive advantage. It is observed that the
