INTRODUCTIONHuman resource management can be refers as the process of managing, controlling,selecting, hiring and appointing people at work place. handling Human resource can beconsidered as the vast element which plays a significant role in growth and development of firmthrough managing the available resource at work place (Albrech, 2011). The major focused areaof each business organisation is to appoint highly educated and skilled people at work place inorder to developing the performance and productivity of firm at market place. In the presentresearch project Tesco Plc is a chosen company as it deals in variety of high quality productsand services to their significant buyers as to satisfying their needs and wants. This reportcontents the study about the functions and purpose of human resource management which areimportant in workforce planning. Different HRM practices approaches to recruitment andselection, strength and weakness of recruitment and selection, benefits of various HRM practicesand their effectiveness for employee and employer. the importance of employees relation interms of influencing decision making process, the key element of employment legislations willalso be discussed in detailed manner. TASK 1 P1) State the function and purpose of Human Resource ManagementHuman resource management is consist to be the most essential part of each business enterprisesas organisations are concern on implementing all resources and function into effective manner.Human resource management is considered as a process selecting, hiring, managing anddeploying workforces as to create value for business organisations. In an organisationmanagement plays different role in which the major function of human resource department is tohiring well skilled and educated people at work place in order to enhancing the performance andproductivity of firm at market place. In the modern business competition is so high at marketplace and organisations are widely concern on developing their performance through offeringvariety of products are services to their significant buyers at market place. In management allbusiness activities are managed and handled by human resource manager and they are concernon appoint right people at right place in order to developing the productivity of firm throughutilisation of appropriate resources (Anderson, 2013). The major purpose of human resource management is to create a plan forpredicting future needs and demand of people at work place and also analysing the currentemployee’s performance. Another essential purpose of manager is to enhance the performance offirm through providing training and development session to their new as well as existingemployees. There are various functions of HRM which are performed by the management of Tesco Plc as tomaintain their operations, in which some are described as under: Recruitment and Selection: This can be considered as the primary function which is performedby HR manager at work place (Armstrong, 2011). Recruitment refers as the process ofstimulating and attracting people for fulfilling the vacant position within firm. Selection definesas the process of selecting most suitable candidate for the position among all the applicants. Themain role of Tesco HR manager is to pick work force who work with an aim that aim achievingboth short & long term goal of the firm in an effective and systematic manner. Maintaining Good working Condition: It is also an another essential element which needs to betaking into proper action by managers. In an organisation the major responsibility of manager isto create an effective and healthy atmosphere as to motivating employees for putting their vastefforts in the growth and development of firm. Training and development: It can be described as the core function of human resourcemanagement as it create benefits in developing the skills and knowledge of employees at workplace so that they can perform multiple tasks which are assigned to them as to completing thedesired target.
