I have been able to learn many new concepts and theories from the lectures that were
conducted in my University over a span of September 2018 to June 2019. I think the
knowledge that I have acquired in all these weeks will help me in order to fulfil my aspiration
of becoming a successful HR manager in future.According to the viewpoint of Jacques
(2017), a competent Human Resource professional is the one who is capable enough to
maintain every single function and responsibility of a business entity in an efficient and
significant manner. In this connection, based on the development programme undertaken at
my University, I have been able to gather many important lessons about Human Resource
Management.
I realized that in order to survive in this highly competitive market, I have to develop
the apt skills. Human resource management is one of the most essential departments of any
organisational setup that helps the company in promotion the overall welfare of the
organization.Concerning to this aspects, I realised the fact that the HR of any business entity
is an integral managerial employee of the same. I have learned that HRM department has to
preside over a large number of important activities like measuring the statistical data,
determining the current needs of the organization, selecting the right interview methods and
many other such aspects., In this modern day scenario all the organizations are trying their
level best to satisfy the changing needs and demands of their clients. Thus, there is a large
dependence on the HRM department. This assignment has been helpful for me to identify the
areas of my weakness and areas of strength. I have also been able to understand the skills and
qualities that will be needed in order to become an ideal HRM professional.
Lecture Module of September 2018–Evaluation Ethics
I have been able to learn that ethical decision making is one of the most essential
qualities of an ideal HRM professional. Data collection and sampling are some of the most

important aspects that have to be undertaken in order to abide by the ethics of the
organization. L&D or the learning and development department must be boosted up in order
to make sure that the employees are getting proper training about the ethical aspects of the
organization. For an example, in my future career, I may face the cultural conflicts going on
in the workplace between two co workers due to their varying socio cultural backgrounds. In
this situation it is the duty of the HR manager to take the right ethical decision and make sure
that the issue is being resolved in a peaceful manner. I have learned that before reaching to
any conclusion the HR manager has to gather data or the information from both the
conflicting parties and then reach put to the decision.
Lecture Module of October 2018 - Design, Delivery & Evaluation of Learning and
Development Provision
Post to the increase in the understanding about the HR professional’s perspective with
the help of the second lecture learned from the university, as undermined by the help of the
CIPD professional map of the Human Resource, it was examined that an effective and
efficient HR professional is the one who is significant in all the four-level bandings of the
map(Mayo, 2016). However, the same is not possible for any individual to inherit all the
decisive role in oneself. Every individual has some or the other default, but the same can
manage to work to the best possibility. In this connection, the potential strengths that I
undermined within myself are that I am capable enough of leading myself as well as my team
members and other employees that would work together in one business entity. This is
because I indulge the quality of being able to develop the actionable insights as well as
solutions, prioritising and tailoring a deep understanding of the business and its contextual
practices. The development programme made me understand that being able to develop and
design a good and creative insight into the business is the primary and essential activity to be
performed by an HR professional.

Lecture Module of November 2018 - Developing aligned Business and HR strategies
In addition to this,with the help ofthe next lecture module, I also examined that an HR
manager needs to be curious to learn new things and develop oneself with each day of work.
This also turns out to be a matter of strength for me as my nature is always open towards
learning and understanding new things that would help me in the designing of the future
business prospects and the strategies that helps an HR professional to continue with the
processes of thebusiness organisation. Thus, this brought a conclusion to me that I am a
collaborative, curious, as well as a skilled influencer that would help me become an
experienced HR professional in my future aspect of the business.
Lecture Module of December 2018 - Leading, Managing and Developing People
The next HR programme undertaken in the university created a better understanding
and also brought a clear fact to me that, this strengths of mine would not only help in my
formal and professional life but the same will also help me build myself as a better student
and human as well. This is because developing oneself as a collaborative human will also
help me work together as a better team member or leader in the group projects and activities
of my academics. In addition to this, being a skilled influencer will also help me influence my
group members when I would be given an opportunity to work a team lead. Not only this but
being a curious individual will help me learn things better in my academics, and therefore, I
would be able to perform significantly in my academics and achieve good results in the same.
The same will also help me become a personally developed better individual in my daily life
and maintain my professional skills and synergies as well.

Lecture Module of January 2019 – Researching Performance Management
The next learning programme made me understand that every ideology has two sides
to it, a positive and a negative. I have realized that in order to promote the success of the
organization I will have to keep the employees happy and satisfied. As per the opinion of
Jaques (2017), reward management models must be developed and used by the HRM
departments of every organization to retain their most valuable asset that is the employees or
the workforce. I have learned that one of my major drawbacks was in the field of employee
motivation.
Attraction, retention and engagement is one of the most crucial process that must
be used in order to boost up the overall performances of the organization (Refer Appendix
Figure 1). I have learned that in order to attract, retain and also engage the workers
different kinds of perks and methods have to be used. Therefore in my future career, I
will be abiding by this model in terms employee recruitment, employee retention and
also for engaging workforce in interring fields of work. For an example, employees often
suffer from monotony and demotivation after having worked over a same field for a very
large period of time. In such cases an ideal HR professional will have to select some perks
drivers from the top engagement driver’s aspect of the Attraction, retention and
engagement model (Refer Appendix Figure 1). Some of the drivers that can be used are
new tools of business decision making, new authority of decision making, providing new,
dynamic and necessary resources for overcome skill gaps and developing new work skills.
I have learned that in future I need to provide all the possible support to my co
workers so that they find new lines of engagement within their work filed. Similarly in order
to retain the employees, I will be using some other tactics or drivers from the Top Retention
Drivers category of the Attraction, retention and engagement model (Refer Appendix

Figure 1). For example, I will be initiating some health and meduca care facilities or
schemes for the employees. Medi-claim or some free family health care check up
schemes must be started in order to induce and retain the loyalty and dedication of the
employee.
Lecture Module of February 2019 – Diversity Management
The next learning programme that was undertaken was on the topic of diversity
management. As per my perception in order to succeed in the 21st century, having a
multicultural and diverse workforce is of utmost importance so that people from different
parts of the world can contribute to the business decision making process. Apart from
recruiting multicultural employees’, the gender equality must also be initiated.
A good example will be the initiation of Anti gender pay gap policies so that both the
male and the female employees are able to enjoy equal rights. In my future career, I will
make sure that the company is following an unbiased recruitment and promotion
systems. The recruitment and promotions will be done based on the performance, years of
experience and the qualifications of employees.
I will also ensure that the following policies are established within the organization,
Equality Act 2010 (Gender Pay Gap Information) Regulations
Racial Discrimination Act
Fair Works Act
Lecture Module of March 2019 - Flexibility
I have learned that the HRM officials must give up the age old methods of organizational
system and start venturing into the modern organizational setups. Employees are to be given
an increased and improved representation within the organizational. For example, Atkinson

model has to be introduced by the HRM department so that all the employees are able
to understand their rights. In other words, I have gained the knowledge from this lecture
that all the employees must be given the flexibility or the freedom of conveying their ideas,
acceptances, rejections or any other concerns regarding all the business decision that are
being undertaken. I will initiate the following methods for bringing about flexibility in my
workplace in the future-
Core and periphery workers
Horizontal flexibility – workers doing wider range of similarly skilled tasks
Vertical flexibility – take on tasks at a higher and lower skill level
Lecture Module of April 2019 - Motivating, Engagement and Commitment
As opined by Berne (2016), an HR is only termed to be practical and productive as a
professional individual, when the same is capable enough of handling every single task of the
business entity the HR is connected to. In this connection, the understanding that was created
from the learning of the new lecture of motivating, engagement and commitment, I realised
the importance of developing and improving myself as a professional and skilled individual
will help me disregard my negative aspects into positivity and work to the best in my future.
The professional and skilled levels of aspect includes the different modules of strategic
planning, decision making, change management as well as other roles of the HR professional
as discussed earlier in the paper. This development will help me both in my present life and
my future goals and desires. This is because I will be able to perform at the most desired level
a Human Resource Manager needs to. The personal development as a skilled individual will
help me to help a clear vision of what and how to accomplish in my future business entity. I
would be capable of being my own expertise as an HR professional and take my organisation

well as the external business market of the organisation. This ability to become an excellent
communicator will help to foster an effective communication system in the organisation, and
the same is necessary to carry up every single activity of the business. No communication
will lead to a failure of productive work, and thus, no business activities and transactions will
take place.Moreover, I will be capable enough to become a technologically, savvy person.
This is because developing oneself will help me to become an excellent researcher and
understand the terminology and methodology of the need for changing and advancing the

Lecture Module of June 2019–Organisational Design
I have been able to understand that organizational design is one of the most important aspects
for a successful business operation. I have realized that the modern system is comprising of
dynamisms and breaking of the age old organizational ideas. Flexibility is one of the most
crucial aspects of designing an organizational setup in the current day scenario. As per my
understanding and learning from the lecture
Flexibility can drive the following desired outcomes:
Increased efficiency
Agility in responding to change
Better customer service
More committed workers
In my future career, I will always follow a free flowing communication system. I will
make myself approachable and flexible so that all the employees can reach out to me at all
types of situations. Horizontal communication system will be developed so that all the
employees can take part in the business decision making process.
Atkinson Model must be used so that employees work in different hierarchical
layers of the organization area able to render their ideas, feedbacks, views and opinions in all
the business decision making processes.
