INTRODUCTIONHuman Resource Management is an essential function of each and every organisation.This management process includes job analysis, planning, organising, recruiting, performancemanagement and monitoring as well as controlling. It refers to optimize and make the best use ofsuch limit and resources to meet an ordination goal and objectives. On the other hand, humanresource management is the process of maximum utilisation of available skills and resources toimprove productivity and profitability of an organisation. This project report is based on Thomascook and son which is a British travel and tourism company. Organisation was found in the year1841 by Thomas cook. This project report is includes role and purpose of HRM as well asdevelopment process of human resources plan. It also represents employment relation, variouslaws and ethics that affect the management of human resources. At last, it introduces recruitmentand selection process as well as training and development according to organisation's need. TASK 11.1 Role and purpose of human resource management Human resource management is the functional department of an organisation that hasvarious roles and responsibilities towards employees and firm. This basically helps to providedirection and guideline to workforce for achieving the future objectives and goals in an effectivemanner. HRM is working to build a pool between customers and organisation to provide betterservices according to customer’s needs and demand. There are various roles and purposes ofHRM :Identification of employee’s requirements – Human resource management of theorganisation identifies company's needs and requirements for skilled workforce. Employees arethe key strengths of company who provide various services and contribution to get futureobjectives and goals. After identifying the need of employees, human resources manager usesvarious methods such as recruitment, selection and identify skills which will help to select andhire capable employees for company. Basically, this program is conducted when company hasvarious vacant positions for new employees and they want to get new ideas in their firm.Through this process, travel and tourism firm can easily improve their services in an effectivemanner. 1

Monitor employee’s performance – Human resource manager has analyse performanceof their existing and new employees according to organisation's demand and customers need.This is the most important process which is helping to identify employees skills and their abilityto attain various task effectively. HRM is also helps to increase awareness about objectives andgoal of the organisation that employees can achieve through their efforts. Manager of Thomascook and son need to analyse employees performance to improve their working skill and geteffective solution for these problem. This process is conduct after finding company's need andcustomer's demand toward the organisation and employee's services. Analyse requirement of training and development of employees – This is the mainobjective of human resource management to provide effective training and learning to theiremployees after analysing their skills and capacity. This programme is conducted after getting ahuge difference in employee’s performance and organisation's needs. Through this process,human resource management improves employee’s interpersonal skills and their workingcapacity. This process not only helps to get organizational objectives but also provides futuresuccess to the employees. For this purpose management conducts various development programsand seminar to enhance employee’s productivity and maximise organisation's profit. Motivation programs – Sometimes, lack of motivation process is decrease productivityand performance of employees. For this problem, manager of human resource managementneeds to organise various programs and activities to motivate their employees in an appropriatemanner towards their work. This program also increases the awareness of organisation'sobjectives and goals that employees need to achieve effectively. Through this process, managerof organisation spread awareness of legislation and employee’s rights towards company andcustomers. Mange relationship between management and employees – Human resource managerworks to build relationship between management and employees of the firm. This relation helpsto reduce misunderstanding and conflicts from company. HR manager also ensure thatrelationship among management, employees and customers has to be healthy and positive to getlong term benefits from each other. In this process, effective communication helps to reduce theproblems in between staff and management. 2
