INTRODUCTION HRM is most essential part of any company. It plays a most important role in executevarious activities of activities of organisation to accomplish different operation in proper manner.These activities are like recruitment of employee, allocation of different resources for production, conduct new and innovative training sessions for new and existing employee working in theorganisation to enhance their skills and knowledge. Marks and Spencer is the UK basedcompany which one of the most leading retailer company which provide different types ofluxurious products and selling of different types of clothes to customer. In this report it has beenexplained about the different roles and responsibility of manager of HR department. Variousstrategies and policies which is made by the enterprise tocarry out various functions of companyin effective manner. HR manager put their effort to accomplish set objectives of entity.TASK 1P1 Purpose and functions of HRMHR manager perform various roles and responsibility of organisation which aids to fulfilrequirements and needs of target market. It plays an essential role in performing variousactivities of enterprise in effective manner. This aids to maintain effectiveness in performingvarious activities of company in stipulated time period. It conduct training session in order toenhance knowledge and skills of workers that aids to perform different operations of M&S inappropriate manner. So it can attract million customers (Yip and et. al., 2012 ). There arevarious strategies and policies which is made by manager in to execute various types ofactivities for organisation in proper manner. There are different purpose and functions which isperformed by HR manager of M&S are describe below:Purpose of HRM Create better company culture: Human resource department of M&S plays differenttypes of roles and responsibility in company in order to create effective environment andalso establish healthy relationship with different employee performing various roles inorganisation in proper manner. The HR manager of M&S mange and control differentoperations of company. Law:So many rules and regulations which are imposed by the government of UK. Themanagement of M&S require to keep an eye on all the legal rules that aids to proper3

running of organisation. These rules and regulation consists of union employment rules,negotiation and many other which impact in decisions making process of the humanresource department of UK. So organisation needs to focus on the different laws in orderto make effective decision which are related to recruiting, selecting an terminating anyemployee of the company in appropriate manner. The manager of M&S also consider thedifferent employment rules and regulations during implementing retirement plan whichcan benefit employee working in organisation (Myers, 2013).Proper management: The main purpose of HRM is to manage different employee inproper manner which aids to create and effective environment in organisation. It is veryimportant for organisation to utilise proper manpower in the organisation to executevarious types of operation appropriately. HRM is also responsible for maintainingcoordination to different department working in organisation ( Post and Preston, 2012). Functions of HRM HRM is concerned with various activities of organisation that aids to increaseproductivity and profitability of company in proper manner. The main objectives of organisationis to achieve set objectives. So many functions of HRM which are describe below:Orientation: HR manager plays an important roles in order to organise orientationprogram for then newly recruited employee in order to join organisation. HR mangerperform induction program for new employee who are going perform different types oforganisation. Recruitment and selection process: The major responsibility of department is to recruitand hire suitable employee for the company in order perform various activities oforganisation. It is duty of manager of M&S is enhance company’s productivityandimprove employee’s knowledge. Training and learning session: It is most essential function of manager of M&S in orderto conduct different types of training session for employee in order to perform theirfunction in effective manner. Recruitment and selections is the method by whichdifferent applicant are hire and selected in order to perform different types of functions oforganisation of company in proper manner. 4
