INTRODUCTION Human resource management refers to the process which helps in managing staffmembers effectually which are valuable to an organisation. Human resource departmentorganises various kinds of HR practices as well as activities of the firm which includes differentactivities and functions that consist of orientation, recruitment and selection, training anddevelopment, motivation, performance appraisal, etc. The human resource manager implementsdifferent policies and plans at workplace which helps in developing an understanding among theemployees and employers (Alfes, and et. al, 2013). This present report is according to WoodhillCollege and also Tesco. The main objective of this report is to measure various weaknesses aswell as strengths of recruitment and selection methods of Woodhill College. On the other hand,Tesco is a retail company and it provides a wide range of products and services like clothing,books, toys, etc. Some benefits of various HRM practices for the employee and employer will bediscussed here as well. Apart from that, significance of employee relation to influence decisionmaking of HRM as well as various HRM practices for increasing productivity and profit level offirm will be studied here. PART 1TASK 1a) Purposes and functions of HRMHuman resource management is the term used to describe the formal system which areuse for the management of the employee working with in organisation. The responsibility of HRmanager of wood hill college is to looking welfare and healthy and safety measure of employeeand full compliance with labour law of land.Functions of workforce purpose and planning:Workforce planning is the core function of HRM and it is related to systematicidentification and analysis of what organisation is needed in term of size, type, experience andknowledge of its workforce to achieve its objective (Bloom, and Van Reenen, 2011). process use to generate business intelligence among the worker working in the organisationwhich inform the current, transition and future external and internal impact on organisation.Functions of HRMStaffing- Staffing such as teachers, assessors and other academic staffs emphasis therecruitment and selection of human resource for an organisation. It precedes the selection of rightpeople for right post in an organisation. Recruiting is the personnel function that attract qualifiedapplicant to fill vacant post in the organisation. On selection human resource functionariesinvolve in developing and administering method that enable the manager to decide whichapplicant to select and to reject for the post. Steps are given below.Orientation- Orientation is the first step helping toward the new employee to adjusthimself in the wood hill college environment (Budhwar and Debrah, 2013). It give informationof working hour and rules and regulation of the company and company expectation.Performance Appraisal- performance appraisal monitor the performance of employeeworking within organisation to ensure the acceptable level. Human resource professionals ofwood hill college are responsible for performance appraisal system. Although actual employeeperformance is the responsibility of supervisor and manager which recommend information tothe system for promotion increment in pay of the employee and also motivate them to improvethe performance work.Career planning- Career planning has developed partly as result of desire of manyemployee to grow in their jobs and advancement in their career (Clark and et. al., 2016). Woodhill college lead to analysis the potential of the employee and advancement of the organisation. Compensation- In Woodhiill college human resource personnel provide a rational methodto determine how much employee should paid for performing the certain job. Pay is obviouslyused for the maintenance of human resource. Since compensation is a major cost to manyorganisation. It is related to development in that it provide an important incentive in motivatingthe employee to higher level of job performance and to higher paying job in the organisation Benefits- Benefits are the another form of compensation to employee other than pay forwork performed.
