INTRODUCTION
Human resource management is a systematic approach used by large number of
organizations in order to manage and organize people within the company in an effective
manner. Human resource is one of the important asset in the company, which aid them to attain
their goals and objectively effectively. One of the main purpose of HRM is it will help in
enhancing the productivity of the company by increasing the efficiency of staff members. In the
present report Squire's Garden Centers is chosen as the base company (Alfes , 2013). It serves to
local communities and is a family owned horticultural business. This is the company which
creates best, suitable and innovative practices in the industry of UK garden center. It has around
15 Centers in Surrey, across North and West London, Sussex, Middlesex and many more.
Squire's Garden Centers was established in the year 1963 by D.J. Squire. It is the report which
includes a detail description of HRM, its scope and purpose. In addition to this, the present report
consist of ample number of aspects of human resource management as well as application of the
same. Along with this, effectiveness of different key factors of HRM are going to be covered in
this report. At last it involve various external as well as internal factors which impact the
decision making process.

Task 1
a) Importance, functions and purpose of HR to Squire's Garden Centers.
Human resource is a systematic method in which company hire or recruit effective and
capable candidates so that they help them in order to attain organizational goals successfully. It
refers to a process which consists of organizing, directing, planning as well as controlling human
assets. Managers of the company provide training sessions to their employees along with this
they give compensation to them according to their performance in order to accomplish
organizational goals. In the present context, HR manager of the base company which is Squire's
Garden Centers need to examine the requirements of staff members. Each and every individual
within the organization provide training session to improve the performance and efficiency. In
order to satisfy their requirements of customers, company wants to expand their business
activities which as a result increase the overall profitability of the organization.
Role of HRM:
In order to accelerate performance, productivity and profitability, human resource
of Squire's Garden Centers plays very essential role an important role. Some of the roles and
responsibilities of HR manager are as follows:
Planning and forecasting: For developing plans and strategies, it is essential for the HR
manager to examine the current staff members. Also, it has also been identified that whether
existing employees handle the working conditions or they required new talent in the organization
to accomplish organizations goals effectively. One of the most significant responsibility of a HR
manager in Squire's Garden Centers is to develop effective plans and transfer required
information in order to achieve positive outcomes. Squire Garden is a medium scale company
deals in plants and gardening. HR manager of the company identify needs of staff members and
develop plan to recruit as well as to perform various activities effectively. Major aim behind this
is to analyze requirement of workforce and formulate plans accordingly.
Recruitment and selection: Recruitment is a process in which large number of
candidates are shortlist , appoint or select within the company. On the other hand selection is a
process in which best and suitable candidate is chosen from large number of applicants. HR
manager of Squire's Garden perform effectively while recruiting and selecting potential
