Introduction
In the current business scenario, effectiveness of the human resource management is the
major determinant of organizational development. This is due to the reason that the more
effective will be the human resource management, the more will be the gaining of competitive
advantages from the side of the employees. Thus, there are number of instances where it is seen
that one competitor is way ahead of another in terms of the human resource perspective. The
competitive advantages between the two entities can get differentiated for the different human
resource management approaches.
Background
Both Lowe and Home Depot are operating in the same sector and in same region but
Lowe is continuously performing low compared to Home Depot along with lower profits. There
are number of human resource factors involved in the poor performance of Lowe, which should
be properly identified and mitigated.
Research problem
The major problem is not gaining the market leadership status by Lowe from Home
Depot in the Canadian market. Moreover, the lower level of the human resource engagement in
Lowe is causing issues in their internal management. This is also leading to the reduction in the
internal competitiveness of Lowe in front of the Home Depot. This is another major problem for
Lowe.
Research objective
To identify the key reasons behind the low profit of Lowe
