INTRODUCTION
Human resources are considered as the asset of the company so it is very important for
businesses to manage them effectively and efficiently. The human resource manager must make
sure that it has adequate practices of HR which can help in managing the workforce. It is very
important to select the right candidate at right place so that the organizational goals are achieved.
The most important role of HR is to recruit and select the efficient candidate so that the
organizational goals are achieved effectively (Zhao, 2018). The organization chosen for this
report is Appirio, a global IT consultancy services which offers professional service and
technology to firms who wants to adopt public cloud application. This report shall cover the
function and purpose of HRM, recruitment and selection approaches, benefits of HRM practices
and its effectiveness. Further it will cover importance of employee relations and application of
HRM practices.
TASK 1
The purpose and function of HRM which are applicable to resourcing and workplace planning.
Human resource management is a practice which involves managing the workforce in
such a manner that there is coordination being maintained between the organizational goals and
the needs of the employees. It is very important to make sure that employees feel motivated and
efficient while working so that their productivity is enhanced (Hee and Jing, 2018). Appirio
company make sure that its employees are managed effectively so that they can work efficiently
for the accomplishment of organizational goals and objectives.
The purpose of HRM for Appirio company is discussed below-
To identify and manage the needs of the workforce so that there is employee satisfaction
in the organisation
To forecast and supply the employees so that the organizational goals are achieved.
To maximise employee performance by continuously motivating it to increase its
efficiency
The functions of HRM in relation to Appirio is discussed below-

The main role of HRM in Appirio is to plan the human resource of the organization so
that they are recruited and selected in sufficient number that can help in achieving the
organizational goal.
Another function of HRM is to attract the potential employees and recruit them into the
organization so that there is talented workforce in the company who can contribute in the
growth and success of the organization.
Another function of HRM is performance management so that they stay productive in
achieving the organizational goals. It also involves good leadership, and clear goals with
open feedbacks so that their efficiency is increased (Xiao and et. al., 2020).
The strength and weakness of recruitment and selection approaches.
Recruitment is a process of attracting short listing, screening and interviewing a
candidate for the job role so that efficient staff is hired for contributing in the success and growth
of the organization. There are mainly 2 types of approaches which are discussed below-
Internal recruitment
It involves hiring or selecting the employee of the organization internally for a specific job
role. Appirio recruits for the job role internally by the following approaches-
Promotions- It involves vertical promotion of an employee from its job role to the higher
job position which includes higher package and more responsibilities. The main
advantage of this approach is that it includes employee which is already familiar with the
working environment of the organization but its main disadvantage is that it closes the
opportunity of attracting other talented candidate.
Transfer- It involves horizontal transfer of an employee from its job role to a similar job
position that has same level of responsibilities and salary package. The main benefit of
this approach is that it helps in diversifying the employees so that it can undertake
different responsibilities but its disadvantage is that sometimes an employed does not
have the knowledge of the position which is allotted to him (Knezović, Bušatlić and
Riđić, 2020).
