and support the workflow of Priority Advertising. The floor plan of the building is evaluated for the
identification of the IT resources needed for the development of the network. An analysis is made on
the number of employees and the departments for preparation of the addressing plan and configure the
network devices to enable sending and receiving of data packets between the departments. The pricing
information of the resources and the specification is attached with the report that would help in creating
a budget for the project and make the resources available during the commencement of the project.

INTRODUCTION TO TELECOMMUNICATION AND NETWORK
Introduction
The report is prepared for the Priority Advertising which is an advertising firm for proposing a
network solution and update the IT resources of the organization. The network hardware and the server
hardware are selected based on the requirement of the organization for eliminating extra cost and
develop a cost effective network solution. An analysis is made on the service provided by the ISP for
getting the best plan suited for the organization and support the security and manage internal service of
the organization. The vulnerability of the wired and wireless service is evaluated and the measures that
can be applied for improving the network is evaluated for the development of the network.
Activity 1: Proposal of Computer System

Activity 3: Demonstration and development of a complete network layout plan
The following is the network diagram prepared for the organization and a serial link is used for
connecting the main router of the office. Fiber optics cable is used as the serial link and it is connected
with a firewall for filtering the data traffic and removing the vulnerability of the network. A layer 3
switch is used and it is configured with VLAN for the management of access of the user and to the
multiple VLAN such that the congestion in the network is reduced. Switch port mode access is used for
allowing the access point, printer and the host PCs are connected in different port and help in enforcing
a centralized control on the network.

INTRODUCTION TO TELECOMMUNICATION AND NETWORK
A layout of the proposed network is developed following the building floor plan of the different
location of the organization for organization. The network is developed by creating different subnet for
the different department of the organization and VLAN are created for enabling centralized
management on the network. The information are reviewed for the development of the floor plan and
the outdated hardware and software are reviewed for it its replacement and meet the current
requirement of the organization (Lientz and Rea 2016). The service that are needed for the management
of the request of the user are analyzed for the configuration of the server and selection of equipment
and service essential for the development of the network framework. The network design is developed
based on the available equipment and service needed by the organization.
Activity 4: Justification of Selection
For the development of the network multiple protocols and technologies are needed to be
applied and for this a hierarchical network is designed such that the reliability of the network is
increased. The selection of the hierarchical model helps in maintaining cost effective, scalable and
reliable network. Here each of the layer of the network has its feature and functionality that can help in
eliminating the complexity of the network. The access layer of the network helps in controlling the
access of the workgroup to the resources and connects the workstation with the servers. The
distribution layer is responsible for communicating with the access layer and the core network device.
The fastest way for reaching the network service is analyzed by the layer for forwarding the data packet
to the core device. The core layer is the backbone of the network and it manages the large volume of
data traffic with the help of high speed device such as routers, redundant links and switches.
Activity 5: Planning for internet Connectivity
The selection of the internet service provider and the plan is important for getting more from
the business and providing high speed internet service to each of the departments. Telstra is selected as

the ISP because it provides uncontended, dedicated connection for providing guaranteed bandwidth
and improve the performance of the application. It has symmetrical speeds and lower packet loss and
latency that helps in improving the quality of service of the network. The platform of Telstra is future
ready and it is flexible for supporting the future growth of the organization. The connection provided by
Telstra is secure and can be integrated with private and cloud network solution (Telstra.com.au. 2019).
It have multiple access points in Australia and provides advantage to the organization by using the cloud
resources and existing network assets based on the demands of network resources. There are different
types of cartridges that can be selected based on the needs and the site requirement. It can help the
business by providing uninterrupted and easy access to all the capital cities of Australia and provide
faster connection with less number of hops such that the performance of the internet is improved.

Activity 7: Using of public and private IP address
The router configured in the network is needed to be configured with NAT and private IP
address is used since it is reserved for internal use. A public IP address is provided by the ISP and since it
cannot be used for the internal network a private IP address is used for the business network. The
private IP address are used since it provides a set of address allowing access on the network without
taking the IP address (Biemans 2018). The interface of the network hardware are configured with a
private IP address such that it can communicate with the other device connected with the router inside
the network. For communicating with the device connected with the outer interface of the router the
public IP address provided by the ISP is used.
Conclusion and Recommendations
For the development of the network plan the following recommendations are made:
Page 6
Document Page
INTRODUCTION TO TELECOMMUNICATION AND NETWORK
To use fiber optics cable as the network backbone for eliminating the risk of bottleneck situation
and improve the network efficiency and performance
To use multiple redundant link between the network device such that if one of the link fails the
network does not collapse
To subnet the network based on the number of department for reducing the IP address wastage
and implementing centralized management.
It can be concluded from the above report that the proposal of the computer system helps in
estimating the hardware resources that are essential for the upgradation of the current computer
system. A server planning form is prepared for building the server and configure it with the service that
are essential for management of the needs of the user. A layout of the network is created and attached
with the report such that it helps in identification of the topology used for the development of the
network. An analysis is made on the available internet service provider for the selection of the best ISP
that would support the scalability and future growth of the organization. A subnet and addressing
scheme is created for the network and configuring the interface of the device with the appropriate IP
address. The use of public and private IP address is discussed in the report that is used for configuring
the router with NAT and recommendations are given for configuring the network and improve the
performance of the network.
