Introduction
The main aim of the research paper is to discuss the childcare industry in Australia. The
chosen organization for the paper is Montessori Academy. The research paper will describe the
industry it operates in and a review of what the organization is doing in the selected industry,
how it is training its workers and employees and researches the professional development
projects that the company is working o for the betterment of its employees.
Industrial Overview
The childcare industry is worth $54 billion dollars in the present era. It is also one of the
biggest business in United States that is known to have more than 66% of children which does
have any adult relative or home or parents to take care of them. According to the author Brennan
(2016) these organization provides full time and vital importance to childhood education. These
industries are growing very fact and are robust (Wolfenden & Yoong 2019). The child care
industry which is also known as the day care industry is an industry which takes care of the child
or multiple children whose age ranges from six weeks to is years. The present child care industry
serves the children with various types of services and care like looking after the children on a
day to day basis, nannies, babysitters, teachers and other types of educational providers.
The child care industry is a broad topic to discuss in the research paper that will be
covering the broad spectrum of different types of professionals, institutions, context, activities
and social and cultural engagements. The child care industry provides the basic needs that a child
requires in their early stage. They also provide the basic educational needs to them. According to
the authors Bruggink, Moselen & Marshall (2017) early child care is an equally important and

often overlooked component for the development of the child in the early stage of life. The child
care centers are also known as the children’s first teachers because they provide an integral role
in the system of early childhood. The main focus of these types of childhood centers are to take
proper care of the children whether ne it the mental, social or psychological. The day care centers
in Australia is an continuum from the personal parental care to large, regulated institutions. Some
of the employees in the industry provides nursery provisions for the employees who are near the
place of the employment. According to various types of researches which were imposed by the
authors Moselen & Marshall (2017) it can be seen that the private running child care
institutions are taking much more acre of the children in their organization than the government
run organizations. The privately running organizations have a better working environment for the
children to grow. According to the author Marshall (2017) the largest expenses in the child care
industry is with the labor who are working in the organization. In Australia the workforce for the
females in the child care industry accounts for 66% who are low paid employees. The rest 44%
of the employees are much more advanced and are paid on an average scale.
The Montessori Academy of childcare
The Montessori School was first started in the year 1993 in Ellicott City. The Children’s
Montessori School began with only three students. In the present time the school is operating its
function in nine different other locations cross Mayland. The group of child care is known for
having more than 1200 students with them and they also employ more than 200 teachers and 500
working staffs. Over the last 24 years the industry has well developed itself both in educational
programs and cultural services King & Leask (2018). It has also prepared the students so that
they can excel in the global society by providing them with various kinds of academic activities,

engaging them in various types of supportive learning activities which are related to the
environment. They support the critical thinking, creative ideas of the students. Most of the
centers of the Montessori Academy of child care service are under the guidance of the most
popular educational philosopher Dr. Maria Montessori who innovates and organizes various
types o programs for the students and children of the industry.
According to the authors Adamso & Brennan (2017) based on a research work he
proposed that these types of cultural development programs will be helping the child to grow up
well and help them develop for the complex world full of technology. The classes are organized
as miniature societies in which the children work and learn together in harmony but maintaining
the individuality in them. The only role of the teachers in the Montessori School of Child care
Academy is to assist the child in developing independence within them and help them with the
foster of joy. Each of the children are able to learn the importance of self respect, respect for the
other person and elders in a society and respect for the work. In these programs the students are
given a chance to develop fundamental activities and understand the life skills that usually plays
a major role in the student’s life in their future.
The Montessori school and child care centers has successfully created an organizational
culture which shares the responsibility, collaboration and personal accountability of the student
and children. The Montessori academy also exhibits the positive climate and culture to achieve a
better result in the programs, enrollment, retention, parent engagement and staff effectiveness.
According to the authors Adamso & Brennan (2017) cultures refers to the shared values,
attitudes, standards and beliefs that characterize the members of an organization and defines its
nature. In Montessori Academy the children truly learn the values and cultures that helps them
in controlling the environment. The Montessori provides a three year pathway at each and every

stage where the child moves on through his or her career according to their individual progress.
The children in Montessori academy have an insight in achieving their goals for their future.
They can see what leys ahead and what they have achieved in life. According to the author
Brennan (2017) the outright competition undermines and externally analyzes that whether the
children have external knowledge of competition or not. All the great teachers in the academy
use the academic curriculum as the vehicle for teaching the real core competencies which helps
them in proper communication and team building. It also helps them in mainting a proper
collaboration, creating and contributing to the students of the centers.
According to the author Blackmore (2016) the greatest leaders from General
Eisenhower are the best managers, teachers and principals in Montessory Academy who are
known to measure the best leadership qualities and manages the whole organization. In the word
of the author Wilson & Collins (2016) if any of the leader is absent for the time being the center
performs accordingly without any loss of effort. This is only possible because the great teachers
know that the children can naturally navigate through the basic instinct ion of the human species.
The leaders in the academy knows that making democracy work is a matter of each person
playing his or her position in partnership with the others.
Staff Development and Training Opportunities include:
In Montessori Academy the diversity and strength is the people is valued and it is
believed that each and every member who represents the team bring sin something that is very
true and unique and valuable to the classroom and communities. Montessori also supports in
committing and nurturing development plans for the staffs as they progress through the career
development in their childhood education. The academy has also invested a huge amount of
money in proper development of the staffs. The academy ahs also invested much in retention and

training which ensure that the people have support facilities to provide to the needy in order to
achieve their personal goal and professional goal in their life (Hanna, Donnelly & Aggar
2018).
The academy has several trainers who regularly attend the campuses. They are also
known to provide new staff with on the job training making them learn how to present, plan and
guide the students in the academy. The trainers also provide training sessions every month which
are available for free. The training sessions includes or covers the introduction to Montessori
educational system, preschool development, curriculum activities, development and planning.
According to the author Collins (2016) to support the staff in their career development
Montessori academy offers scholarships to the educators who are known to undertake various
types of additional qualifications while trainings.
Mentoring Programs
Montessori academy also assigns various types of mentors and they have a mentoring
team which provides the new staffs with the best possible induction and training session sin the
academy. They learn a whole lot of new things in the first three weeks of the trainings. Mentors
include the managers of the management team, Montessori trainers and area managers. They
also have a dedicated human resource team who act as an hand in hand with the support staff of
the professional development journey (Percy & Corral 2015). Succession planning is a process
where the academy tries to understand, identify and develop new leaders who can replace the old
ones when they leave the academy or die. According to the author Collins (2016) succession
planning is known to increase the capability of the employees that are prepared to assume the
roles of the organization as they slowly become available. Montessori academy has an effective

the employees have the proper skill, experience and knowledge to achieve the departmental
strategic goals. Few of the benefits’ of succession planning which is carried on in the academy
are given below:

 Communication skills – A huge part of the teaching is fully generate through
proper communication. Communication can be done both verbally or written.
According to the author **** the teacher and the student should be both good in
speaking and writing and have a better communication skills.
 Patience – It is one of the most important skills which is required both by the
teacher and the student. People those who are calm and cool by nature those who

are silent observer are the best learner. Having patient and learning something I
very crucial in the child care industry.
 Creative skills – According to the author people learn things bets when they are
creative by nature. The students should be given opportunities to learn and draw
and make things which can open up their mind and brain.
 Confidence – This is also one of the most important skill which helps a student to
grow up. A student should be confident enough about the things which are known
to him.
Conclusion
In order to conclude the above research paper on the childcare industry of Australia, it
can be said that the industry is in a growing stage. The subject is of a very high interest to me for
two main reason as because I myself graduated from St. Lawrence College with a diploma in
Early Childhood Education. Thus I myself have experienced the stressful but enjoying working
condition in the industry. Though I am not in this field any more but I have much concern for
those who are working in the field for the benefit o9f the students and children. The paper has
successfully discussed all the portion. The childcare industry is one of the biggest industry. It is
still in a growing stage where it has various types of opportunities to catch and grow.
