INTRODUCTION
Industry analysis is one of the market assessment tool with the help of which businesses as
well as analysts understand the competitive dynamics of an industry. The present portfolio is
based on sport industry which will cover the industry analysis factsheet of different organization
fall under the different sub-sectors of sport industry (Kim, Oh and Han, 2020). For the present
industry analysis, the selected organization is Nike (Public sub-sector), Admiral Sportswear
(Private sub-sector) and Sported UK (Voluntary sub-sector). Lastly, the portfolio will also cover
the organizational mapping of one highest performing companies using organizational flow chart
and will analyse how the different internal department of company work together to meet the
business objectives.

The various subsectors and the types of organizations in that industry selected for the
present industry analysis are as follows:
Public: The public sector is one of the sub-sector of the sport industry which is basically
owned, controlled and managed by the government or state run bodies. This is the part of the
economy which is controlled by the state. For example, Nike is the sport businesses that fall
under the public subsector. The market size of the Nike Inc. is international because the company
have international presence (González-Serrano, Añó Sanz and González-García, 2020). Nike is
an American multinational corporation which design, develop and manufacture the sports
footwear. As per May 2021 report, Nike have total of 1048 retail stores all over the world. The
company was formed in the year 1964 and is consider as one of the most leading sports
manufacturing organization all over the world. Nike Inc. is listed on New York Stock Exchange.
Private: Private is also one of the subsector of sport industry which cover the organizations
that are managed, owned and controlled by the individual, group of individual or business
organizations. For example, Admiral Sportswear is a UK based sport organization that design,
develop, manufacture footwear, apparel, equipment, accessories and services in UK. The market
size of Admiral sportswear is international (Pierce, 2019). The company is a private limited
company formed in the year 1914 and as per 2020 employed 75400 employees all over the
world. Admiral sportswear is an unlisted company which is not listed on any of the stock
exchange.

Voluntary: The voluntary is also considering as a subsector of the sport industry which is
considered as charities and non-profit organization. As compared to public and private company,
the main objective of voluntary subsector organizations is to provide welfare to community and
society not to earn higher profit. For example, Sported UK is the one of the largest network
community group of the UK which focuses on promoting sports and creating job opportunity for
the young people to make career in sports. This is UK wide charity organization that support
community sports clubs across the UK. The market size of Sported UK is national as its deliver

 Nike Inc.: Nike Inc. is one of the leading organization which have multiple operations
and stores all over the world. In the year 2021, the company have earned the net revenue
of $45.6 million. The company aim is to provide the unique and high quality sports
equipment, shoes, apparel to its target market.
 Admiral Sportswear: Admiral sportswear is also one of the UK based private limited
organization. The company have net assets of $4 million as per the 2020 report. The
target customer of Admiral Sportswear is athletes, players as well as local people. The
company also provide kit uniforms to the various football teams and association in free of
cost in respect of sponsoring. The net revenue of company in the year 2021 is $54
million.
 Sported UK: This is a UK based wide charity or non-profit organization. In the year
2021, the net income of the company was £3262K which was quite high as compared to
previous year. The main aim of the charity is to support the young people that want to
make career in the sports (Zhang and et.al., 2018).
Size and Scope:
There are two types of organization based on the market size such as national and
international. National organization are the company who have its business presence in local
country only. While the international organizations are the company that have its presence in
both national as well as international level. On this basis, it is analysed that Nike Inc. and
Admiral Sportswear is an international organization while Sported UK is a national organization.
Further, there are four types of organization based on the scope of the business such as micro,
small, medium and large organization. The large organization are the companies that have equal
or more than 1000 employees (McLeod, Star and Shilbury, 2021). On this basis, Nike Inc.,
Admiral Sportswear and Sported UK have more than one 1000 employee within their business is
consider as large organization based on their scope.
Organizational and Legal Structure:

There are various types of organizational structure for example hierarchical, matrix etc.
In the hierarchical organization structure, each employee has one supervisor who guide and them
and to whom employees need to report on a daily basis. This is best for completing the task on
time. While on the other hand, matrix is a type of organizational structure in which relationships
are built among the department and employees are included in the decision making process. Nike
Inc. follow matrix organization structure while Admiral Sportswear follow hierarchical
organization structure. The legal structure of Nike and Admiral is corporation as they need to
follow all the rule and provision set by the corporation Act. While on the other hand, Sported UK
need to follow the rule and regulations set by charitable trust.
Stakeholder Information:
The stakeholders are the parties who have direct or indirect interest over the performance
of the company. Different company have different stakeholders based on the type of
organization. The stakeholder information of three sport industry organizations are as follows:
 Nike Inc.: As Nike is a public organization and listed on various stock exchange the
company’s top priority stakeholder is investors, customers etc. Further, government, local
community is also the key stakeholders of company that keep close eye towards the
business operation and how they manage their work.
 Admiral Sportswear: This is a private limited company so for them customer and
suppliers are the key stakeholder of the company. It is because they are the one that play
vital role in the success of business. The suppliers want to know whether the company
have the capability to pay its dues on time or not (Aslam and Anwar, 2020). That’s in
order to build strong relation with stakeholder, Admiral sportswear company adopt all
possible actions.
 Sported UK: The key stakeholder of sported UK charity is local community, sports team,
sponsors and employees. It is because they are the one that provide high quality service,
funds and products to the company so that they can further support sports team and
young people.
On the basis of the above industry analysis which cover the analysis of the three organization
fall under the different sub-sector of sport industry. Through this analysis, it has been analysed

that Admiral Sportswear is a highest performing companies because it is one of the oldest and
cost effective organization. The main purpose of this company is to help the national as well as
international athletes to get the sports equipment, footwear and apparel at low cost. While on the
other hand, Nike work for the high market share and earn higher profitability along with high
price of its product (Auchter and et.al., 2018). Thus, on the basis of cost effective and major
contribution to sport industry growth, Admiral Sportswear is a high performing company. Not
only that Admiral also work with the various football association to provide the uniform kit to
the national teams at free of cost.
3. Presenting Admiral Sportswear organizational flow chart

Analyis of interrelationship between functions and organization objective of Admiral Sportswear
The above chart state the different function and department of the Admiral Sportwear
company that work together for the purpose of acheivement of business objectives (Moşteanu,
2020). The objective of the business is to enhance the brand awareness and sales of the company
through promting active lifestyle to people as well as athelets. In order to achieve this objective,
the various internal department such as finance, sales, marketing, HR, technical and
administration of Admirial sportswear work toghether.
For example, Finance deparment and Marketing department of the Admirial company
work together in which they communicate about the cost the company will incurr in the
marketing and promotion of their products and services. In order to promote and market its
sports products and service within the national as well as international level, the marketing team
of the company engage into various social media sites and platforms. Also, the company
marketing team focused on lauching various campgain on the social media platform to attract

more customers towards the company (Madi and et.al., 2018). Hence, in order to spend the funds
on the marketing staregies, the team require money which they can get from the finance
department of the company. In this sense, it can be said that Admirial sportswear company work
together with the other department as well in order to achieve the business objective in the
success full manner.
Also, the technical department and HR depatment of Admirial company work togather to
encourage the employees of the company to work with its full potentail. The HR team of the
company require to attract and retain the top talents and skilled workforce or staff within the
company. For this, the company require to communicate with the employees and provide them
with proper training and development sessions. In order to provide virtaul training session to the
employees because virtual learning helps the employees to learn the new skills and things more
easily and quickly. For this, the HR team of the company require technical and IT team.
However, Admiral sportswear follow the hirerarchical organizational structure within
their organization, the impact of which the company unable to involve the lower level staff
within the decision making process. This has highly affected the morale of the employee and
misguide them to not to work together in order to achieve the common objectives. This is one of
the major issue that company is facing within their organization (Gentile-Lüdecke, Torres de
Oliveira and Paul, 2020). Thus, it is advisable to Admiral sportswear that they should also
include participartive structure within the organization to encourage and engaged the staff in the
decision making and busness success.
The company HR manager can adopt matrix organization structure as well along with its
current structure to ahcieve the business objective. It is because this helps the company to keep
their employee involved and motivated towards their target completion and overall businss
objective acheivement.

Advanatges of Hierarchical organization structure:
 It defines the clear line of authority.
 It is best for directing employees and completing the targets on time.
 It also helps the achieving quick and clear result.
Disadvanatge of Hierarchical organization structure:

 The employees are discourages and feel isolated.
 It also leads to poor flexibility (Escamilla-Fajardo, Núñez-Pomar and Parra-Camacho,
2019).
Advanatge of Matrix organization structure:
 It improves the ability to access resources all over the company.
 It enhance the coordination among the departments.
 It enhnace employees effeciency.
Disadvanatge of Matrix organization structure:
 It leads to chose and confusion between managers of different department.
 It also create heavy workload for employees.
Advantages of Team based organization structure:
 Better communication amomg employees.
 It promote creativity and generate motivation.
Disadvanatges of Team based organization structure:
 It sometime leads to interpersonal conflict (Escamilla-Fajardo, Núñez-Pomar and Parra-
Camacho, 2019).
 It also create compatability problem among the employees.
CONCLUSION
After summing up the above information and industry analysis, it has been concluded that
Admiral Sportswear is a high performing company but is facing issue in the term of lack of
communication and support within the internal department of the company. It has been
concluded from the critical impact analysis of the different organization structure, that Admiral
Sportswear should adopt the matrix organizational structure. It is because in the hierarchical
organization structure, the department of the company unable to include the lower level staffs
within the decision making process (Luczak and et.al., 2020). However, on the basis of the

analysis of interrelationship between the different function of company, it is concluded that
Admiral organization is able to successfully achieve the objectives of the company whole work
is done in single direction.
The only issue the company is facing in their achievement of strategic objective is lack of
employee’s commitment, communication etc. In order to deal with the issue, the management of
Admiral Sportswear should adopt matrix structure as well along with their current organization
structure. Further, it is also analyzed that how marketing and finance department of the company
work together to attract the athelets and players towards their products as well as increase sales
of the company (Luczak and et.al., 2020). The interrelationship between the finance and
technical department also significant for Admiral company to encourage employee via training,
reward, recognition to the employees.
