INTRODUCTION
Information and communication technology can become denotative term for
informational technology that emphasis role of incorporate communication and segregation of
telecommunications and computers. It also includes role of enterprise software, audiovisual and
middleware etc. This term is used to refer usage of telephone networks and computer networks.
In modern times, it is most important to use these technologies as it is due to Covid pandemic
(Al-Emran, Mezhuyev and Kamaludin, 2019). Due to this pandemic many of the people use
these application to conduct various meetings and classes. Company which is taken in this report
is Tesco. In this report, there is a discussion of various communication technologies. Then there
is a application of cloud storage and computing are discussed. There advantages and
disadvantages are mentioned in the below report. Then at last it covers challenges and measures
of security and privacy that users take when they go online for variety of services.

ICT is a information and communication tools that is infrastructure and components that
enable modern computing. This is a term which is usually accepted to mean all devices. These
devices includes various applications, networking components and system that allows people to
interact with everyone in digital world. There is a discussion of two application that are used in
Tesco company in this Covid pandemic a most to interact with customers. Let discuss about
them:
Zoom
Zoom is a video telephony software program which is developed by Zoom video
communication. It is a free plan which provides a video chatting services the customers that
allows 100 participants at a same time. It includes maximum time which allows 40 minutes video
conferring with the people. It was founded in the year 2012 which is available in 11 language
(Avgerou and Walsham, 2017). User and people have a option to upgrade their application by
subscribing to a paid plan. During this pandemic time of Covid 19, company has earned a lot of
profits as there is a increase in number of participants and also there is a increase in use of Zoom
app.

Features: There are certain features which are used in Zoom application. Zoom is a
compatible with windows, Android, Chrome, and Linux. It is noticed that it is simple usage by
the customers. As it consist of that features which are required by the customers and also they
can use it in easy ways. It features includes one to one meetings, group videos and plug-ins,
screen sharing and browser extensions and also it has a ability to record a meeting so that they
can see them afterwards also. On some of the computers users are able to select virtual
background. This application allows maximum of 100 participants to attend a meeting for
maximum of 40 minutes. Its security features includes password and protection meeting so that
any other person cannot able to open the app (Grant and Meadows, 2020).
Applications: Zoom is considered to be an application which can be downloaded in any
device. Whether it can be personal computer, laptops, Android and Windows etc. it is used as a
chat or phone call to a meeting with a single click. It provides high quality video and audio in the
app. Person can use it from work from. At the time of Covid 19, it has increased so much. By
this it has made lot of profits and revenue.
Suitability: Zoom is suitable for any device whether it is a Android or windows etc.
during this Covid pandemic, this is most;y used by businessman or university teachers to convey
meetings and taking classes online.
Advantages: There are certain advantages which a Zoom have in it. These are that it is
easy affordable and also easy to start. It has quality of video and audio in it. Zoom application
consist of Zoom rooms that re easy to use. So this helps the person in making contacts with other
person and interact with other person simply sitting at home also. It is so easy as it does not
require any IT support to start it. It has a facility of screen sharing which will helps the teachers
in sharing a pictures which they want to show to children (Goodwin, 2017).
Disadvantages: There are some of disadvantages. These are that it consist of so many
subscriptions and adds which can create a barrier in using of this application. There is also
inconsistent cloud file sizes. User can install all files in a cloud depends on his plan. Each file has
certain limit of being stored in application. But actual videos can greatly vary from size.
Web Ex
Cisco web ex is a American company that develops and sells video conferencing and web
conferencing applications. This application was founded in the year 1995 by Subrah Iyar and

Min Zhu. The products which it is providing are Web ex meetings, web ex teams, web ex
support centre and web ex connect etc. company has a headquarter in California. Tesco is
making use of these technologies to interact and make communication with customers and other
employees members.
Features: Cisco web ex has a tie limit of 50 minutes at a time participants can connects.
This is used for web meetings and video meetings. Cisco web ex has over 20 millions reliable
videos conferences a month. It has free video calls and screen sharing. It easily presents online
and collaborate with various teams. It can also be used as conference call.
Application: Cisco web ex is a meeting application which is required by the user to
conduct meetings through audio and video calls. This can be done in about 50 minutes to the
user. There are certain software products which it is consist of. These are web ex meetings, Web
ex office, web ex connect and web ex centre etc (Leba, Riurean and Lonica, 2017).
Suitability: It is suitable for the customers or uses who have cloud meeting solutions. It
is also used by teachers or businessman to conduct various meetings and conferences.
Advantages: Cisco web ex is having certain advantages. There can be easily meetings
which are to be used by user. It makes easy to manage person online meeting. This enables a
person to focus on purpose of the meeting. In this user can able to meet face- to face online video
conferencing with another people. It has web ex active speaker that allows user to communicate
effectively with the other participants. It enables person to record, edit and playback the future
references. There is also a desktop integration. It has floating channels which enables them in
starting at any platforms like Windows, Mac, Linux etc.
Disadvantages: When users remote access virtual machine then sometimes Web ex
meeting does not work. Sometimes users get confused by starting this application. It does not
have stored spaces with it. It needs to improve its visual compatibility by document sharing that
is of PDF and PPT.
Cloud computing and storage
Cloud computing provides various applications in the field of business, data storage and
backup management, art and social networking etc (Macedo, 2017). in the context of data
storage and backup applications, it allows a user to store its informations and data on a cloud and
it can access a information on internet connection. Cloud computing is providing security ad
privacy to the users and offers them a backup recovery application for getting up of losing data.

Advantages: There are certain advantages of cloud storage which is used in Tesco
company. As there are certain files which are to be kept secret and for long term in future. The
major advantage of this application is that it can be used at any anywhere as it is more
assessable. It has are recovery system as if Tesco company can lose any data or information
related to storage or something else then it can be restored by this application. Also it has a
security passwords.
Disadvantages: There are certain disadvantages of Cloud computing and storage. It can
be used only when there is good internet connection (Maral, Bousquet and Sun, 2020). This also
charge cost for uploading and downloading documents and files sometimes. If a user is using
cloud storage then data is no longer is on your physical storage. It is depends on the hard drives
as Tesco company is business provides physical hard drives.
Suitability: Cloud computing and storage is suitable for Android phones and Windows
etc. it is suitable for taking any backup and storing any file or data that is important for a client.
They provide off-site reapplication of mission critical data tailored to the data retention policies,
business needs and requirements.
Application: There are certain applications that are offers by cloud service. These are art,
data storage and backup management, business and social networks etc. Cloud computing allows
the user to store data and information on the cloud and provides access to internet connection. It
helps the client in storing files, documents, images and videos etc. in effective form. It also
provides security and privacy setting to the businessman so that no other person can steal
anything from the application. This application consist of a list which is discussed below:
Box.com: Box.com provides online environment for secure content management,
collaboration and workflow. It allows a businessman to store Pdf, images and word document in
cloud storage. Its main advantage of using this is that it provides drag and drop option to the user
(Prathibha, Hongal and Jyothi, 2017).
Mozy: Mozy provides online backup solutions for business man and mangers of the
company of storing personal and business data. It can take automatically backup in each day of
the data and information.
Google G Suite: This is the application which is best for backup and cloud storage. It
includes Google calender, google docx, files, hangout and Google plus for the storage of files
and information on cloud application. It has a mostly popular application that is Gmail. Gmail is

used by the company to clear update about the products and services to the customers and
employees both.
Online security and privacy
As Tesco is the largest company and it must of various useful data and information which
is to be stored by mangers and board of directors of the company. They are using certain
measures which could help them in securing there data by using those measures. There are also
some of the challenges which can be faced by company during business hours and by employees
as well. Company should have big data and information which is to be used for helping customer
care service and related to products or services they are selling (Santhi, 2017). Now a days
internet has become a channel of choice for criminals to commit financial and other crimes. For
this company should take certain precautions to safe user data.
Challenges of security and privacy
 Spying and snooping: When a client is online, then he is operated by number of trackers.
Trackers can be criminal minded or any other. They can track all the search history and
check what is your online activities through various channels. This can provides a clear
picture if a client to the tracker as what he is and about what things he is searching for.
Some of the trackers track through online advertisements that shows ads on the
application. This can lead to tracking of information and data according to the client taste
and preferences. This can results in unauthorized and illegal activities done by criminals.
For that company needs to follow some privacy setting so that criminals cannot attract
them.
 Information mishandling: There are several websites on internet where they needs
personal information to fill all details about them. These sites may save client passwords
for sometimes so that they can't be used afterwards. Sometimes these mishandling of
personal information is done by criminals as this can leads to serious consequences. Now
the trend of modern e- banking and e- business portals is very high which can lead to
misconduct for the company (Major Internet Privacy Issues, 2021).
Measures of security and privacy
 Strong passwords generators : Every new accounts means setting up of new password.
Every time client needs to make strong passwords. Strong passwords helps the clients and
managers in reducing criminal cases. And also reducing in misconduct of the online

services. As by using online services, person can interact with each other and make
meetings.
 Use VPN: VPN is a virtual private network which secures browsing data through
encryption, ensuring that client browsing activity, IP address, download history should
not be shared among third party. By using these safety measures client and company both
can well behaved in the organisation (Silverstone, 2017). And also this can results in
storing of customer payments, records and transactions etc.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it has been concluded that there are certain application and
technologies that re used in Tesco company at the time of Covid pandemic and they are also
using them to conduct meeting with employees and other managers. Company is using Zoom
and Webex technology to conduct meetings for them and for decision making process now a
days. In cloud storage application there are certain application which are used in company to
aware customers about the products and services. These will helps the company in making
contacts with customers. At last company is facing certain challenges and measures of security
and privacy while using online services. Company needs to keep in mind all the safety measures
so that there data and information cannot be leaked.
