1.1 Identification and give a brief description of the problem.
The company Happy Sailing Adventures allow the customers to make their bookings
through telephonically or through online services (Schwalbe 2015). The company has realized
that the existing network and the various computer systems are almost obsolete and outdated and
they wish to update these systems by acquiring new software, faster network and innovative
hardware. The problems that occur due to these outdated systems and network are as follows:
i) Slower Booking Process: Due to the outdated systems and slow network, the entire
process of booking by the customers gets slowed down.
ii) Data Corruption: The slower and outdated system often is responsible for the
corruption of data and information.
iii) Lower IT Flexibility: The flexibility of the information technology gets down due to
the out dated systems and technologies.
iv) Hard Drive Failures: The fourth problem that arises due to the outdated systems is
the failure of hard drive (Willcocks 2013). The hard drives store the data and when the hard drive
fails, there is a high chance that the confidential data or the information will be lost and cannot
be recovered.
These particular problems are extremely urgent and should be solved on an immediate
basis. The bookings of the tours are done by the computer systems and the equipments related to
the technology are extremely important for the business (Venkatesh, Thong and Xu 2012). It is
the responsibility of the IT engineer and other persons, who are involved with information

technology to solve the problem as soon as possible. The entire technical team should look into
the matter for solving the problem.
1.2 Explanation of the information for the problem.
The problems that are identified in the company, Happy Sailing Adventures are
extremely significant and should be solved immediately. The first step for solving the problems
is gathering relevant information about the problem (Dutta, Bilbao-Osorio and Geiger 2012). The
information can be gathered by following certain steps. The steps are as follows:
i) Identification of the method suitable for the company
ii) Training the employees
iii) Collecting and tabulating the data
iv) Reporting and utilization of the findings
1.3 Identification and explanation of the problem-solving technique that would be used to get
to the root of the problem.
The problem solving technique that would be helpful for this particular problem is the
trade off analysis. For performing the trade off analysis, any type of critical criteria is defined for
the particular problem, which is utilized for the evaluation of the comparison of each solution
with other (Waser 2012). This evaluation is normally done by utilizing an easy matrix. The
solution, which has the highest ranking, will be considered as the most relevant solution for this
particular problem.
1.4 Compilation of a list of at least two alternative solutions for the problem.

Two alternative solutions for this particular problem are the Brainstorming and Mind
Mapping. The method of brainstorming is utilized for getting this solution.
1.5 Explanation of the solution.
The method of brainstorming helps to think out of the box and thus several innovative
ideas come up (Holtshouse 2013). All the respective individuals tell about their ideas and at the
end the best solution is selected from those ideas. This even helps the employees to work as a
team.
2.1 Description of the search strategy that is followed.
The search strategies are the structured set of activities that are utilized for searching
anything. These search strategies help any organization or company to even search their
databases for any relevant information or data (Peppard and Ward 2016). The search strategy
that should be followed for searching anything is the algorithm. This algorithm are sequence of
steps that are executed one by one for searching the solution.

3.1 Based on the topic (real world problem) and background information, a research problem
and two to three research objectives are formulated.
A research problem is the clear and the definite statement and expression about a
particular area of concern, and a specific condition that is to be upgraded upon. Moreover, the
problems are to be eradicated, or a troubling question that exists in scholarly literature, in theory,
or within the existing practice, which points to a need for meaningful understanding and
deliberate investigation (Mithas et al. 2012). A typical research problem does not help to
understand the procedure of doing anything, offer a broad or vague proposition, or present a
value question. The research problem of this particular case study of how students prepare
themselves to search for jobs is to look into the matter so that the students can prepare
themselves with proper approaches (Willcocks 2013). The formulation of the research problem
will help the students to understand the basic problem and how to mitigate this problem.

The research objectives for this case study are as follows:
i) The first objective of this problem is to look into the matter so that the students can
prepare themselves with proper approaches for their jobs (Willcocks 2013).
ii) The second objective for how students prepare themselves to search for jobs is to look
at the approaches. They should use proper approaches for their preparation.
iii) The third objective for how students prepare themselves to search for jobs is to
determine whether the requirement is mandatory or not.

3.3 A brief description of the research methodology that would be followed for conducting the
research.
The best approach that is to be used for the case study is the Quantitative approach. It is
the best method as it involves the mathematical and the scientific data for understanding a
problem (Willcocks 2013). Moreover, the data collection instrument for the approach is the
questionnaire. This will provide proper, non ambiguous and error free data for the research.
