Information system can be described as sociotechnical, formal, organization system
that is designed for purpose of process, store, collection and distribution of
information. It is designed as integration of different component for collection,
processing and storage of data for which data is used and also provide information
that contribute to digital products and knowledge. This project report includes
description of theories and method related to design and development of IT
solutions. It explains different systems including DSS, ESS, MIS, KSM, TPS. It
describes globalisation and effect of IT on globalisation. Additionally, it includes
digital infrastructure and it's advantage and disadvantage for business. Moreover, it
includes risk associated with information system outsourcing and its important for
business.
Task 1: Theories, methods and techniques which relate to
the design and development for TWO of the IT solutions
listed here: (i) McAfee; (ii) Moodle; (iii) Canvas; (iv) MS
Office
MS office:
MS office can be described as client software or services that is developed by
Microsoft. It was introduced by Bill Gates in the year 1988 in Las Vegas. In order to
develop design and development of Microsoft office different methods and
techniques are used (Costé, Ray and Coatrieux, 2019). It provides clear values that
helps use for completion of a task efficiently. It also allows them for purpose of
making sense for office applications. It also allows them to add values which create
good experience for users. It is designed in a way that crate user experience. It
provides important UI entry points which are using different commands. In this there
is application of UX principles which helps to make this design more effective and
efficient. It also allows them to make it more optimize for purpose of touch. For this,
optimization and monitoring are also important that helps to add in performance.
Canvas: Canvas is another element which allow dynamic, scriptable as well as
bitmap images. There are different methods and techniques are use for purpose of
designing this IT solution (Doukas, Stavroulakis and Bardis, 2021). For this, first
thing included in this is line which is used for provide style of an illustration. Scale is
another thing which is important part for designing. In this it is helping for purpose of
deliberating sizing of individual elements. Color is another component that is
important for purpose of creating moods, channels, emotions and other things.
Repetition helps to make different element together.
Task 2: Explanation of the systems below with relevant
examples
DSS (Decision Support System)
DSS is considered as one of information system that is providing support to decision
making activities and also require determination, judgement and sequence of action
(Li, Yin and Li, 2020). It is a system that provide assistance to different level of

management of organization for purpose of analyzation of different volumes of
accumulated information ad unstructured information that helps to solve problems
occur in business and also helps in decision making process. For instance, it helps in
GPS route planning, clinical DSS, Crop Planning and other things.
ESS (Executive Support System)
It is one of management support system that provide facilities as well as support to
senior executive information as well as needs of decision making. It provides easy
access to internal as well as external information that allow company to attain goals
of company. It is one of specialized form of DSS and is having easy to use interface.
It is providing strong reporting as well as drill down capabilities. For instance, it helps
to provide support to process of investment planning. It is also useful in health care
organization.
TPS (Transaction Processing System)
Transaction process system can be described as information processing system for
purpose of business transaction that consist modification, retrieval and collection of
different types of transaction data (Karolak, Razzaque and Al-Sartawi, 2020). It is
providing effective performance, reliability as well as consistency in business. For
instance. It can be used for purpose of entry of sales order, payroll, shipping and
employee record keeping.
MIS (Management Information System)
It is one of system for information system which can be used for purpose of decision

country. It helps in international trade as due to which different countries can sell
their products and service to another country. It allows company to expand their
business operation in more than one country (Hayes and Cappa, 2018). It creates
more dependence over global economy. It allows free movement of service. Capital
and goods. It is created wealth in developing countries as it provides them access to
advance technology and resources and create employment opportunity in their
countries.
Digital and virtual movement: There is increasing use of digital technology, mobile
phones and computers in today’s time that create impact over progress of
globalization. There is increasing use of these technologies among people as well as
business. It allows people to interact with other instantly. It also allows company to
interact with their clients and employee from any place. It increases trend of virtual
environment among people which is important for them. It also makes it easy for
business managers to provide direction to employees and manage team virtually
which gives rise of globalisation as due to which it is easier for companies to expand
their business to another country and manage their operation easily.
Supply chain: It is one of method for purpose of integration of different suppliers,
customers and retailer which is creating values for company. For instance, Walmart
id one of organisation which is using supply chain business in which at time when
customer is picking a product from shelf and it is scans by cashier, a signal is deliver
to supplier of products (Nurdin, Pettalongi and Ahsan, 2019). After receiving signal,
supplier provide that item to Walmart store and due to this supply chain, this
organization is getting success in global marketplace. This supply chain is more
increased with use of IT in global business which allow business to get success and
growth in market.
Outsourcing: Outsourcing is one of method through which company is providing
responsibility of products and service to another company. It is one of method which
allow company to get benefit of cost and also decrease risk related to quality of
products and service. This outsourcing can be done in another country where there
is cheap resources and labor which allow company to reduce cost of their operation.
Increasing IT give push to outsourcing which leads to rise in globalization in
business.
Task 4: Definition, example, advantages and
disadvantages of digital infrastructure
Digital infrastructure can be described as digital technology that offer foundation to
information technology of a company and its operation. There are different examples
of digital infrastructure including data centers and network, cloud service and
software, internet backbone, broadband, APIs and integrations. Digital infrastructure
assist companies to be more smarter and allow them to enhance experience of
customers by meeting demand of customers (AlKilani and Qusef, 2021). It also helps
them for purpose of improving productivity of employees. For instance, it helps
companies which are working with single database or different database by allowing
them to connect and work to one another thar provide key values to urban
management.
Advantage of digital infrastructure:
4

Connect people and places: Digital infrastructure is one of component which allow
people and place to connect with each other through using digital technology. It
allows people to taking reviews of other while making purchase of products and
service. With this, business can connect with their customers through using different
type of social medial platform where they can solve problems faced by customers
and can also answer to their question.
Improve productivity: Digital infrastructure make an organization more digital by
using numbers of technology in their organization. These technology helps
companies to reduce human errors and allow them to complete a work in less time
(Baybulatov and Promyslov, 2020). It improves productivity of employees as they
can work more efficiently without wasting much time.
Increase economic growth: It allows business to expand their operation by offering
their products on different online platforms. It is easier for small and medium
companies to expand their business operation by offering their products on online
platform. It increases export of a country which is important for their economic
growth. It also creates various employment opportunity in a country and allows
companies to effectively utilizing resources of a country that is ensuring economic
growth of a country.
Disadvantage of digital infrastructure:
Data security: Data security is another factor that create impact over business as
implementing digital technology create risk for data breaching (Haghighi and Torabi,
2018). Business is uploading their important data on these digital platforms which
create threat for their business. This threat is also increase if this data has lost by
company which create problems for them.
Crime and terrorism: Digital infrastructure increase risk of crime and terrorism. In
this structure, important data of company is stored which can be access to third party
that can leads to crime and terrorism activity which is not good for any country.
Task 5: Risks associated with information systems
outsourcing and why is IT infrastructure so critical to
digital transformation!
Risks associated with information systems outsourcing
IT outsourcing can be described as business practice in which external providers are
using functions of information technology like infrastructure, software support and
software development (Barafort, Mesquida and Mas, 2018). There is various reason
for which a business is outsourcing their business like price to quality ratio, access to
better skills, upscaling and other things. There is various reason behind outsourcing
like it is cheaper for companies to outsource their data storage. But there is various
risk associated with this outsourcing of resources which are mentioned below:
Inexperienced staff: It is one of risk for outsourcing of information system as it is
essential to have experience staff for outsourcing. For purposing of hiring a team,
companies are taking interviews as well as references from different members as it
helps them for verifying experience of new hire. Risk in this is that company does not
have proper knowledge related to members of management information system.
Loss of control: At time when company is transferring their responsibility for
purpose of development and operating their information system to another company.
5

It leads loss of control for different function of information system (Korachi and
Bounabat, 2019). When another company is accepting proposal of outsourcing of
information, it provide them position as customers is accepting different things
provided by vendors and also accept charges of vendors. It provides situation to
vendor in which the are running and developing it information system and also
accepting technology provided by vendor.
Hidden cost: Outsourcing is used by companies to reduce cost of operation and
promise long-term saving as well as cash flow benefits. In this, it is difficult for
companies to identify how much amount can be saved by them in future period of
time and they are unable to see technical discontinuities. In this, company is
underestimating installation cost, relocation cost, redeployment cost and other things
which are unexpected for them.
Why is IT infrastructure so critical to digital transformation!
Business leaders are using digital transformation which play important role for
success of business and IT is helping them for purpose of delivering of providing
digital technologies. Business is understanding needs of digital transformation and
different types of companies are taking it as a serious challenge. Companies are
facing various issues due to lack of innovation in their organization and also due to
misperceptions of IT departments.
Digital transformation is one of components in which main burden is created to due
maintaining of legacy system that create issues (Salazar, Ovalle and De la Prieta,
2019). Legacy system in which data center as well as network layer are ineffective
for purpose of providing support to software in different organization. It is requiring
both time as well as budget which create creating proves for company to focus in
digital transformation.
IT infrastructure is critical for purpose of digital transformation process and also work
as foundation for organization in IT system. There are different types of business
who are understanding network important and data center infrastructure that is
inevitable through limitation of agility of organization as well as also facing risk as it
requires more investment.
It is not easier for companies for implement digital transformations companies needs
to invest in digital technology in order to secure future of their business. There are
different types of technology like all flash storage that assist to transformation in
context of data center and channel network technology that offer digital enterprise
with non-availability and also provide incredible performance that is require for future
of modern center of data. In this, aim of company is to connect business with
different application and data that provide them platform for purpose of growth,
innovation and development.
Conclusion
From above mentioned project report, it can be concluded that There are different
types of theories for different types of IT solutions like canvas and MS office. There
are also different types of system including decision support systems, knowledge
management system, executive support system, management information system,
transaction processing system. These information systems provide solutions to
different problems occur in business and also allow them operate in effective
manner. Globalisation is one of component that allow economy of different countries

to integrate with each other and ensure smooth flow of goods and services,
information and technology and other things. It is created greater impact over this
globalization and gives it rise that is important in order to ensure economic growth.
There is increasing use of digital infrastructure in business that allow them for
purpose of improving productivity of business and also increasing efficiency of
operation of company. Business is also outsourcing their responsibility to other
business and it is also done in field of IT that allow them for purpose of reducing cost
