Introduction
Supply chain management of the company is one of the major aspects, which influences the
business in various aspects, for instance, the cost of the product depends on the company.
Moreover, sustainability includes accomplishment of business operations, without harming the
environment or depleting the environmental resources (Goffin, 2017).
In the report, the focus would be over the role of international supply chain over the sustainable
development goal 15, “life on land.” The goal majorly included protecting, restoring, and
promoting the use of ecosystem sustainably, manage forest sustainably, reserve and halt land
degradation, combat desertification, and halt biodiversity loss (sustainabledevelopment, 2019).
For a better understanding, various real-time examples will be included in the report, for
instance, Google, Coca-Cola, ITC, and Walmart who have taken action across its supply chain
which affect sustainable development goal.

The contribution of supply chain towards sustainable development goal
The supply chain of the company and the sustainability goal achievement are linked together.
Major reasons for the sustainable supply chain for the corporate would be reducing the
environmental costs and impact. For this benefit, one of the examples would be of Walmart.
Moreover, this can be beneficial for the company as well, that is improving in supply continuity,
innovation through services and products, and reputational damage is another aspect that makes
the company integrate sustainability along with supply chain. Most of all, it is relevant to protect
the environment, and ruin as per the environmental laws and regulation in the nation (Betton,
2017).
Google
Considering the case of one of the best companies running, that is Google. The company has
worked for the responsible supply chain in order to be committed towards the environment and
work towards enhancing the people’s life. The company considers the ethical standards to a large
extent through its supply chain. For instance, some of the contribution made by the company
would be social change, at their nearby communities and at supplier’s site (Ayers, 2017).
The company initiated the conflict minerals program, aiming to enhance the transparency in
tantalum, tin, gold mining, and tungsten, this is done to create the conflict-free material sources.
Sourcing is one of the major cause in the supply chain which can affect the environment,
especially the land in form of deforestation, land pollution, and depletion of the land resources.
For this, the company initiated this program (Razova & Dvorak, 2018). Moreover, in New York,
the company capture the value from the waste, through solid waste management authority. The
authority used to operate the landfill in New York upstate. The organic waste inside the landfill
was liable to decompose, through this it was helpful for the land betterment and for reducing the
carbon dioxide in the environment (Christopher, 2016).
Coca-Cola
Coca-cola is one of the largest, beverage company dealing worldwide. Another organizational
case would be of coca cola regarding the life on land, the major aspect that the company
considers the sourcing of the material used as one of the major aspects in the supply chain to
improve achieve this sustainability goal. The ingredients used for the products used were
