What is the Internet?
The Internet, mostly named as "the Net," can be explained as one worldwide
computer networks or usually the network of networks. Initially the United States based
Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA), in the year1969 has discovered the concept of
internet, however, in its infancy stage, it was known by the name ARPAnet (Dillman, Smyth
& Christian, 2014). In the current technological era, internet has emerged as one cooperative,
self-sustaining, as well as public facility that provides easy accessibility to millions of people
around the globe. The internet works by utilizing a part of the already available public
telecommunication networks; however, it is distinguished by utilizing a set of protocols,
named as the Transmission control protocol or internet protocol (TCP/IP). The data over the
internet passes in form of the packets, where each packet is associated with one port number
and unique IP address (Assange, Appelbaum, Muller-Maguhn & Zimmermann, 2016). The
internet is mostly used for sharing information worldwide.
What is the World Wide Web?
The "World Wide Web" (WWW) can be described as collection of different public
websites which are connected via the internet world-wide. However, the same is simply
identified as “The Web”, and it is usually confused with the term internet (Choudhury, 2014).
Though, both of them are intricately connected, yet, the two are different things. The internet
is one global network, usually the combination of vast networks, which is comprised by
supporting infrastructures. On flip, WWW is the communications model, which mainly uses
the hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP), for carrying out information exchange between the
sources over the internet. The websites present in the WWW are always accessed by their
associated domain names and the extensions. For example, the .com, .info, .biz are some
