INTRODUCTION
Management is the practice of coordinating various functions which are required to be
carried out for smooth functioning of an enterprise. To follow functions of management, it
requires a structure through which task of an organisation can be completed effectively.
Organisational structure signifies the reporting relationships or flow of hierarchy in which it
defines the roles,responsibilities and functions of each personnel. Key assets of an enterprise are
its human resource their training,developing skills and most importantly their retention plays a
vital role so HR focuses on the training and development programmes ,rewarding employees so
as to reduce the turnover ratio (Muczyński, and et. al., 2022) . This report will cover structure of
an organisation elaborating pros and cons of structure along with business functions and its
responsibilities. Functions of marketing and its relation for the success of an enterprise.
Besides,different management functions and role of HR with respect to talent management.
MAIN BODY
Management structure and business functions-
This section includes the structure of management which shows the framework of an
organisation and also defining various functions required to carried out fir its working.
advantages and disadvantages of the different types of organisational structure
1.Hierarchical organisation structure- This structure is pyramid in shape and flows from its
superior to subordinates following chain of command
Advantages-
 Clearly defined reporting relationships between employer and employee.
 Employees are motivated with well structured paths and their scope for appraisal
increases(Ferreira, Fernandes, and Ferreira, 2022) .
Disadvantages-
 Rigid structure unable the employees to share their ideas and causes lack of enthusiasm.
 This is a time consuming structure as it follows a bureaucratic structure.

2.Flat organisational structure-This structure also known as horizontal structure. It is mostly used
in new businesses as they are having less number of management layers.
Advantages-
 It enhances the coordination among employees and flow of information is also fast in this
structure.
 Employees feel motivated as they are provided with responsibility and openness to share
the ideas(Deepak, and et. al., 2022) .
Disadvantages-
 It may also create ambiguity because of unclear reporting relationships.
 Due to lack of supervision,employee may face difficulty in production process.
Business functions and their responsibilities-
Business functions are the sequence of activities performed by an enterprise for
completing a specific goal. Business functions can be either core or support. Core function
contributes in generating profit and vale of a company whereas support functions are not
producing output cut helps to tackle core functions. Some of the responsibilities and business
functions are as explained as below-
1. Finance- Procuring or acquisition of funds for daily requirement and investing, budget
allotment and its monitoring will also cover in the major functions of a business.
2. Marketing- Business also deals with the processes of marketing such as
promotion,pricing and packaging etc (Belyaeva, and Levis, 2022) .
3. Research&development- The process of performing new innovations to cope with
changing trends is also included in the function of management.
The marketing function and its relation to business success-
Every enterprise runs with the motive of earning profits which can be gained by
following the function of marketing that includes selling,distribution,promotion and analysis
market information. Majorly marketing functions helps to reach its target customer by delivering
its offering to prospects. Satisfying consumer helps to increase the sales of a company and results
in achieving desired profits of the business.

Marketing works with other business functions for success of an organisation-
Framing an effective marketing strategy requires its coordination with other business functions to
reduce functional conflicts between the different departments. For the success of an
enterprise,integrating functions of business with marketing can be discussed as below-
 Finance department- Marketing demands a lot of spending to deliver its offering so as
to raise the revenue of a company and finance transports the required funds for
promotional activities. Finance ensures sufficient allocation of funds within its available
budget for research,promotion and distribution. In context of Tesco,it incurs huge
expenditure on advertising,charitable donations as its plans its finances in a allocated
budget. In this way,finance department coordinates with the marketing function.
 Human resource management-Specialised employees of an organisations helps to
convey the mission,vision of an enterprise to target market through which it can gain
good market share. Either it is creating sales team or achieving economies of scale it can't
be possible without competent human resource,so they both work in collaboration with
each other. In respect of Tesco, it arranges induction programmes for new
personnel,creating a employee oriented environment so they serve its target market to
fulfil demands of its customers(Jalayer, and et. al., 2022).
How management function manage a business-
In every enterprise,functions of management plays an essential role in accomplishing the
organisational goals. While achieving organisational goals,optimum utilisation of resources and
reducing wastages can be achieved by following management functions.
Different management functions and their responsibilities-
Functions of management and its responsibilities can be discussed as below-
 Planning-It is a systematic process of developing premises and choosing best alternative
from premises. This is a continuous process which is required at every stage of
management.
 Organising-It is the process of organising distinct activities,their classification and
assigning duties to each department. This results in minimising overlapping of tasks.

 Staffing-This is the process of placing right person on right job. Recruiting an employee
for an enterprise with required skills.
 Directing-In this function,management of human resource is done by
inspiring,influencing and leading to reach organisational as well as personal goals of an
individual. Controlling-It includes looking back to all the previous management functions and
comparing actual performance with respect to standards set. Corrective actions are to be
taken in case of deviations.
Functions of management and its relationship to manage the success of the business-
Managing an organisation requires different functions for its long term growth. Discussing
planning and directing in relation to success of an enterprise are as follows-
 Planning-One of the foremost step to manage the things well in the organisation is
planning because it clearly defines the blue print of organisational goal. Planning helps
out in scheduling all the tasks required to be carried out in advance. Thus,an advanced
framed of set of actions contributes to the growth and profitability of an enterprise
(Dauer, and et. al., 2022) .
 Directing-The managers of a company delegates activities to its competent employee
because specialisation of employee brings quality to their work. For the success of an
enterprise,motivating employees by rewarding their work and guiding their actions to the
correct path helps out to increase the effectiveness of a company.
Talent management and organisational culture-
Talent management is a process of creating high performing employees who retain in the
organisation for a long term period. It involves recruiting,selecting,placing an personnel to meet
the organisational needs of the firm. Organisational culture includes the components of
environment of an enterprise. Culture includes set of beliefs,attitudes,ethics and moral values.
Role of HR in relation to talent management-
HR plays a significant role in talent management. This can be elaborated as given under-

 Recruiting- The base of talent management is acquiring right person to the job. HR
while recruiting employees work according to the job description to select the candidate
who is having a good set of skills.
 Performance management-It is a management tool used to observe and assess the
employee's work. Its objective is to produce best quality work and prepare employee's for
further tasks in future. Succession planning- It is the process in which HR fills the key managerial positions of
a company which helps to decide in advance the potential employees who can be selected
as a key persons of the organisation.
Define organisational culture and explain how positive culture impacts on the success of an
organisation
It is mainly the values and the ways in which the companies generally manages their
employees it implies and provide guidance and the practise through which all the consistency
and the authentic behaviour of the members are managed. This can also be known as the
collection of traits through which all the working of the company and the management of the
employees are undertaken(Rocha, Narcizo, and Gianotti, 2022) .
When their is a positive organisational culture is followed by the company there is been
seen that it helps out to manage the higher production as it will make the employees to feel
motivated in the company and will also make them dedicated towards their working. It enhances
and boost the morale of the employees by motivating them and also by creating a positive
attitude in the environment.

CONCLUSION
From this above report it is concluded that management plays an important role in
coordinating all the effective functions in the organisation. Their is been seen that there are
various structures which are being used by the companies in order to manage the function like
the hierarchical organisational structure manage the pyramid and cover the top to lower level of
working. Their are different departments in the companies which manage the work
systematically they are like the finance which maintain the budgets and the Human resource
department which maintain the recruiting, selection and other implications. Further it is also
concluded that there is required the effective planning, organising and staffing in order to
manage the work properly and the organisational structure helps in concreting the positive
attitude in the environment and also in gaining the productive advancement and growth for the
company through which all the revenues can be generated and the company will able to enhance
their profitability.
