Jaguar Land Rover Company is an automotive company in the United Kingdom. Its
headquarters are in Whitley, Coventry in the United Kingdom. Designing, development,
manufacturing, and selling of vehicles bearing the Jaguar- Land Rover brands are the co-
objectives of the company. The company also manufactures expensive cars such as saloon cars,
private sports cars as well as four-wheel drive vehicles. Jaguar Land Rover company also makes
vehicle spare parts and accessories.
Stuart Hart and Mark Milstein develop a framework that describes the sustainable value
and impacts of a firm to the community at large. This plan can help a company to identify
strategies and practices that can work towards attaining a sustainable world and improving the
value of the shareholders. The approach contains four strategies which are; pollution prevention,
product stewardship, cleans technology and sustainability vision of the company.
Pollution prevention- this works towards realizing the specific strategies a company has
set to reduce waste production and emissions from the current products and operations. The
Jaguar Land Rover's operations are booming day in day out. Due to this success, the company is
faced with responsibilities of working towards the reduction of its companies environmental
impacts. The company is taking this as a challenge when working towards meeting their
increased customer’s needs. Some of the things the company is doing to conserve the
environment include:
Building for the future- the company employs high standards in everything it does. This
does not exclude its buildings. The company makes sure that every one of its buildings complies

with the set standards in concern to pollution emission and waste production. The environmental
effects of the company’s operations are not limited to the facilities alone. The impacts in their
supply chain are critical. Jaguar Land Rover organization advice its suppliers to put into
consideration high sustainability standards as the company does. This helps the company to
reduce the impacts of the products they buy from their suppliers on the environment.
Minimizing the impacts of transportation- the company manufactures all of its vehicles in
the United Kingdom. It then dispatches the same to more than one hundred and seventy-seven
countries. The company employs several mechanisms to reduce the delivery distance of their
products such as delivering the products directly to the customers instead of using the delivery
companies. This helps to reduce the wastes emitted during transportation of the vehicles.
Product stewardship- this is the process through which a firm engages its stakeholders
and managing its whole life cycle of their products. The company participates in face to face
meetings with its opinion formers such as the experts in sustainability, leaders in pressure groups
and representatives from the consumers. This makes it possible for the company to get views
regarding their products. The company also sets marketing researchers where customers have the
opportunity to show their opinions regarding the Jaguar Land Rovers Company. There are also
high profile meetings between the company together with its dealers and importers. This helps
the company to get a reply on the several issues in concern to their products such as
sustainability.
The company also in co-operates non-governmental organizations to listen to their views
and also share their strategies with them. This helps the company to gather more ideas on how to

modify their products as well as new ways of reducing the carbon dioxide emission. The
company regularly advises other companies to make improvements in their societal impacts.
This is because it is a member of the business in the community. Jaguar Land Rover also works

information pertaining service improvement.
Clean technology is the manner in which a company develops sustainable competencies
for the future. The company is aiming at reducing emissions and energy consumptions in future.
It is targeting to achieve this through the installation of an energy efficient car wash as well as a
two in one heat and power plant. It is also planning to refurbish and construct other new houses
and make changes to the manufacturing plants. This will help the company to cut down the
power usage during its operations.
Sustainability vision is the roadmap to fulfilling the unfulfilled needs. Jaguar Land Rover
company is planning to reduce its waste production to zero by the year 2020. In the year
2012/2013, the company did set up a group of its worker to research zero waste production
means for the company and how it can be achieved. The company is also planning to reduce air
pollution through switching to water-based low solvent coatings instead of using the former
solvents used in their paints. The company also plans to reduce the volume of water it uses to
produce one vehicle.
Conclusion
Jaguar Land Rover is a business driven by the desire to fulfill its customers while at the
same time being fair to the environment. It is a business which other companies can copy the
