Organizations having uniquely defined information seeking and retrieval have a great
advantage over others organizations because they are able to get information concerning
production and competition and act accordingly towards the way they conduct business through
decision making, solving organizational problems and coming up with new ideas that make them
remain more competitive. Information seeking can be defined as the process of trying to acquire
information either through technological means or through human beings, it is related but also
different from information retrieval. Information retrieval is defined as looking for specific
information in a document a particular document (Craswell, Croft , Rijke, Guo & Mitra, 2018).
Though information seeking and information retrieval might be related, they differ in a
number of ways which include; information retrieving has a general assumption that the answer
already exist and that it can be retrieved by phrasing the right question while in information
seeking, there is no assumption of an already existing answer. Information retrieval is a specific
task while information seeking is a series of processes, they also differ in that for information
retrieving one looks for a specific document to get a specific piece of information required while
in information seeking, they look for information in a wind range of documents and may involve
a lot of interpersonal communication unlike information retrieving (Zucco, Lavano,
Anfosso ,Bianco, Pileggi & Pavia, 2018).
ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) are digital technologies that
enables proper management in seeking, retrieving and also sharing of information, they therefore
have a very important role in information management. These technologies makes it easy for
organizations to seek and retrieve information they require from the internet by use of
computers, data mining systems, databases among many others. ICT also enable organizations to
get better sources of information, guides them on how to access the desired information as well
