Latino Engineering - Continuous Improvement PlanIntroductionThis is with reference to the current case study ‘Cracks in Latino Engineering’; the LatinoEngineering was a company with the very high value of quality to its customers and clients. Butthe story has changed after the company has been sold by the old owner Mr. Dominic Latino.The new owners have preserved almost all the employees except few whom they could notrestrict from leaving the Latino Engineering. Now, after twelve months of taking over by thenew owner (a financial group), many cracks started appearing in the service and product they aresupplying since many years. The current issue which they are receiving from many clients andcustomers are supplying of defective equipment, very poor & late service of the customer servicerepresentative, poor designs are being supplied to clients even in some occasion the wrongequipment has been delivered to few clients which can be termed as the worst negativity of theLatino Engineering’s quality standards and the levels of quality checks they are conductingbefore packaging & sending their equipment. Because of all above issues, Latino Engineering isnow suffering the long list of customer’s complaints, increased list of reworks and the obviousoutcome is the reduced profit or even loss at some instances. So, it can be very much finalized that the issue has arisen due to non-availability of Dominic’sclose & tight control over the Latino Engineering’s quality checks at the various departmentfrom designing to dispatch. But now we need to continue without him, so we need to develop astrong quality control procedures and the approach to not only develop a continuousimprovement plan to avoid such issues from happening in future but also to achieve the highestlevel of quality standard in the product and services they provide to all future associations. Nowwe shall first identify the root cause of the defects or complaints received and then find a way outto close all the issues in one and half month and then in balance one and half month we shalldevelop the continuous improvement procedure and a culture or approach to improve alwayskeep on pushing for achieving day by day better and better quality results. To identify the root cause of the defects/complaints reported by the clients and customers weshall use POTI (Process, Organization, Technology, and Information) technique to eliminate the3 | P a g e

Then develop the Continuous Improvement plan for theorganization to enhance the standards of the quality of its product & services using 7 QC tools.Continuous Improvement PlanPOTI Model to develop framework for Continuous Improvement MethodNow let us analyze the root cause of the defects and find out the probable solution to plug theissues using POTI model of analysis. Now let us start with the first terminology ‘Process’, inwhich the analysis of the speed, quality, and efficiency of the system of working shall beidentified. The speeds of the functioning of the employees are very slow and are causing an issuein providing the solution to the queries and problems raised by the customers and clients. So theissue is the speed of working, which can be improved by motivating the employees, so all themotivational techniques to motivate the employees to need to be used by the new owners tomake them involved and always feel that they are the important assets of the organization andtheir performance is very much required for the progress of the Latino Engineering[ CITATIONSta15 \l 1033 ]. Then the next action point is improving the ‘Quality’ of the work so that thereworks can be reduced which is actually consuming a lot of time and cost of the company. Therework of any project or job can be reduced by receiving the confirmation at every levelregarding the correctness of the progress, so all the available different techniques and tools needto be utilized for developing the quality of the job by reducing the rework[ CITATION Isl12 \l1033 ]. Now the next stage of the process analysis is the efficiency testing and enhancement ofthe employee’s efficiency, again the motivational techniques can be used to motivate theemployees and increase the efficiency level of the employee to achieve the desired quality of theproduct and services.Then the next level of the POTI model (please refer Appendix – A) is the Organization, in whichthe structure, the capability, the leadership and the goals of the Latino Engineering are requiredto be analyzed to find and propose the correct recommendations to improve the quality of theproduct. The organization being without any good leaders who can lead the whole team theimproper communication and complaints are being increased to such a level that the employeesare more investing their time in finding other’s fault rather than improving their own output and4 | P a g e
