Management and leadership process of organization involves developing vision, aligning
vision with the goals through communication. General Motors(GM) is an American
multinational corporation which is headquartered in Detroit the company designs, manufactures
and sells vehicles and vehicles parts. The report is divided into 2 parts. Part first will give the
details of various leadership and management concepts(Hitt, Ireland and Hoskisson, 2016). The
report will contain the comparison of managers and leaders on the basis of their characteristics
and roles. Further the study will describe how the role of leader and function of manager apply to
different context ie, uncertain situation, goal setting and strategy formulation.
Part second is based on Corus which is a part of TATA steel group. It is the world's
largest steel producers. This case study will focus on how Corus used its knowledge and
experience of continuous improvement tool to win new business. By making an effective use of
skills and expertise in a structured way makes it more able to create better processes and
products. Corus used CI to support its new product development This study will describe and
show some approaches to management and role of leaders. Further the study will show he
advantages and value of operations management in achieving objectives of business. Lastly, this
report also shows the relationship between the leadership and management in a contemporary
business environment.
