Leadership can be defined as the process with the help of
which the leader possess the power to influence the other
people in the way in which he wants from them to do. The
company chosen for the completion of this assignment is
Wa-Pila Hotels. The assignment will make discussion about
different classical management theories and their
application in the Hospitality Industry along with the role of
leader and different leadership styles used.
Introduction

There are different classical management theories which
are propounded by many theorists which can be applied
in the working of an organisation. With the help of this it
will be possible for the organisations working in the
Hospitality Industry to make improvement in the
working of their employees such as by increasing their
efficiency to achieve the goals and objectives of the
organisation.
Various classical management theories

So the discussion of the different Classical Management Theories and their application in the working of
businesses covered in the Hospitality Sector such as Wa-Pila Hotel has been provided as under:
 Scientific Management Theory: The following theory has been propounded by Fredrick Winslow
Taylor and the theory aims at making improvement in the work efficiency of the employees and on
increasing the production of the organisation.
 Bureaucratic Management Theory: The following theory was propounded by Max Weber which
was based on the Fredrick Winslow Taylor's Scientific Management Theory. According to this theory,
it has been said that the principles provided by Fredrick Winslow Taylor can also be applied in context
of human resource department as well.

people in the way in which he wants from them. The role of leader in an organisation is provided as
under:
 The role of leader is required at all the levels of the management such for the formulation of plan and
policies considering the suitability of both the organisation as well as employees.

The leadership styles that has been adopted in Wa-Pila Hotel are discussed as under:
 Participative Leadership Style: The leadership style that has been adopted in this hotel is
participative according to which employees are also encouraged to participate in the decision making
process of the company.
 Autocratic Leadership Style: It is also adopted by Wa-Pila Hotel and this leadership style has been
adopted by the company in some critical situations which the employees have less knowledge and
decisions are important to take on quick basis.
Reviewing of different leadership styles and management styles
in hospitality sector

The different types of management styles adopted by Wa-Pila Hotel has been provided as under:
 Democratic Management Style: According to this leadership style, the managers makes the active
involvement of their employees in the decision making process and also takes into consideration their
suggestions also. This management style has been adopted by Wa-Pila Hotel.
 Consultative Management Style: The following management style has also been adopted by the
managers of Wa-Pila Hotel and according to this management style, the managers consults to their
employees before making any final decisions to go for a better option but the final decision to make is
in the hands of manager.

From the above assignment, it has been concluded that different management theories helps the
organisation to make an increment in the productivity of the organisation. In addition to this, it is also
concluded that leader plays an important role in giving success to the organisation and the different
leadership styles also help in managing the people accordingly.
