INTRODUCTION
Leadership is the research area and practical skill which help in analysing the ability of
an individual and organisation which lead towards providing correct direction to their
employees. The management can smoothly run various business operations and its functions in
order to gain high income and profitability effectively. The report is based on two types of
hospitality industry in which Hilton hotel is the international hotel that are serve various services
to their guests. Another is The Five Field which is small restaurant in order to serve services and
facilities. Along with this, the main purpose of this assignment is to assess two different classical
management theories and analyse the role of leader.
TASK 1
P1 Assess two different classical management theories and apply these in service industry
There are various views of management and classical views of management or classical
management theory. In this, there are two different classical management theories which
includes scientific and bureaucratic management theory that are described as under:
Scientific management theory – It is well known for its application of engineering
science at the manufacturing level. Hilton hotel can adopt this theory because this will help in
improving the efficiency of their staff members while doing work. On the other hand, The Five
Field can use this theory for providing best effective services to their
Bureaucratic management theory – It is that theory which mainly focus on operating
and regulating the organisation under a hierarchy structure or position. In Hilton hotel, this
theory is applied for managing and maintaining all business structure where they are recruit
specific employees as per their skill and ability. The Five Field can adopt this theory which help
them in operating business operations in appropriate structural manner in order gain attention of
large number of customers.

P2 Role of leaders and different leadership styles in service sector
In Hilton hotel, the role of leader is to create good environment where all the staff
members are work together for fulfil all guests needs and wants. The major role of leader is to
arrange and manage all activities related things before conducting in the large market place.
They are responsible for developing and implementing a timeline their team that can be used for
reach with end goals. In The Five Field, role of leader is to help members of the selected public
and organise their ideal vacation in limited budget.
Leadership style:
Autocratic leadership style – It is the management style where an individual controls all
the decisions and take few inputs from other group members. Such leaders are make decisions
which is based on their own beliefs and does not involve others for their suggestions and advice.
Hilton hotel can adopt this style where manager controls all strategic decisions regarding
different guests requirements and needs. On the other hand, The Five Field can use this style in
which managers or leaders are make appropriate decisions regarding customers needs and wants.
Democratic leadership style – It is also known as participative leadership and shared
leadership style in which members of large groups take more participative role in developing
accurate decisions for the welfare of company. In Hilton hotel, manager are giving chance to
their subordinates to make decisions which involves staff members who are deliver services to
the guests. In The Five Field restaurant, managers are take suggestion with their subordinate
regarding where they required to invest money for development.
P3 Review the management and leadership style in specific service sector organisation
Role of leader – A leader play an important role in leading people towards reaching with
desired goals and targets. In Hilton hotel, leader are set clear vision and mission for an
organisation, motivate employees, guide staff members through deliver effective services to the
guests.

Role of manager – In Hilton hotel, manager are responsible for managing employees and
also planning, marketing and coordinating hotel services that includes catering and
accommodation facilities. The manager are handle the security and safety of customer service
and some other management concern of an organisation.

which help them in reaching with desired goals and targets effectively. They are perform
functions as per the management style which are best suitable for the company.
 Organisational culture – The culture of respective organisation directly affect on style of
management according to this they are operate and regulate their services and offer to the
guests.
 Budget – In this, leaders are analyse whole budget which are required for smoothly run of
business operations and services of hotel which they offered to the guests.

 Competitors – With the help of management style, leaders or managers required to
analyse major rivals which create issue for an organisation.
 Sociological factors – Leaders required to understand the demographic make-up and
culture of guests who are come in their hotel and current trends of the market place to
design services for specific people.
 Technology – In this hotel, technology can change the business environment. Leaders
should adjust their management style which help organisation to adopt updated
technology. In this, different digital and innovation creation are directly affect on
management style of the hotel.
