INTRODUCTION
Leadership and management are the roles which are often considered as same. It is
important to understand that leadership is a crucial part in the process of effective management.
Leadership skills helps in building stress on creating the work space where every member of the
team is allowed to develop and excel (Azad, and et.al., 2017). It is about the potential which is
used to influence and drive the combined efforts in attaining the desired goals of the
organisation. Tesco is a British company which works on the multinational level for selling
groceries and retailer merchandise. This report is about the personal experiences of an individual
towards leadership. Action plan is generated which is helpful in analysing the skills, strengths
and weakness of an individual.
MAIN BODY
Leadership is very important as a role of providing a clear direction to the team members.
Leaders are required to understand and embrace the work in attaining the desired objectives.
Leaders helps in providing steps for progress in achieving the goals of company and setting new
targets. I have worked in the sales and marketing team of the company in the past. This
department of the company holds an important place to benefit the company and attain the
desired goals. The leader of my team went on a long leave due to some health issue. I was
appointed as the temporary leader of team till he returns back to work. He has set a great
example as a leader and managed the team well. There were many new employees working in
the team. I aimed to build a strong team and make sure that the work done is efficient and is
completing within the deadlines. I have strong interpersonal and communication skills which
helped me handle the role of leader be easy for me.
Leadership is not just about managing the team members but also is about taking hard
decisions (Bush, 2018). I did not have the skills of being a decisive individual which created
many problems in making quick decisions with the information I possess. In the same time, I was
supposed to manage the team and train the new employees. I started by training with basics and
let them handle the basic things in sales. I watched over them in the starting weeks and resolving
their issues in a very clam and support way. I wanted to stand up to the trust which my leader
had on me. I always wanted an open and comfortable relation with my leader, and so I put a step
forward in building relations in order to maintain a strong and collaborative team (Ding, Choi,
