1.1 Background
In the current time, most of the businesses are focused upon employee motivation
strategies in order to meet their defined aim. For that, leadership plays an important role in order
to increase their overall performance. Leadership is the process or an action of leading a group of
people within an organization, for that different leaders are hired to tke a business at further level
of success (Gardner and et.al., 2020). Similarly, the present study is also highlights the
relationship between employee motivation and leadership styles. The chosen firm for this study
is Sainsbury who provide range of grocery and home products to their customers at reasonable
rates. The company is operating at global level which reflects that business has a strong brand
image. For that, there is a need to focus upon leadership style in order to improve the employee
motivation level.
1.1.1 Rationale and justifications
The rationale behind choosing the specific topic is such that to remain competitive within
a business, company focused upon leadership style. Which helps to encourage the employee to
enhance their performance. However, it is also consider as an issue because if a leader opt wrong
leadership style, it leads to demotivation which in turn causes negative impact upon business
performance. With the help of present study, scholar also enhanced the knowledge pertaining to
chosen topic which will be beneficial for the present study. Overall, with the help of thematic
data analysis, scholar could shed a light upon the leadership and its relevance of employee
motivation.

To identify the ways through which Sainsbury motivate their employees
