The concept of multi-purpose teams involves practitioners from more than one field working together
working jointly sharing aims, duties, tasks and information in order to intervene early to eliminate
issues arising which hamper learning environment and growth of young people and children
(Agaskar, Lin and Wambu, 2021). The two types of multi-purpose teams include extended
schools and children’s care centers.
Child care centers are multi-purpose agency which brings together childcare early education,
health, employment and assistance services for pre-school children and families. The role of childcare
centers is to provide various services for well-being of preschoolers. The services provided by
childcare centers include integrated early education and childcare, baby weighing, health checks,
crèche and various other services. The purpose of child care centers is to help children secure
improved life chances with better educational achievement, healthy living and support families get
back to work or identify better employment opportunities.
Extended schools are another type of multi-purpose agency which play role of developing
collaborative practice in early childcare setting. The aim of this multi-purpose agency is to provide
range of services beyond school to meet the needs of young people and their families (Garrett and et.
al., 2020). Providing wider community access to communication and healthcare along and parenting
support are some of the services provided by extended schools.
