Key Skill 2 Problem solving
Strategy To carry out the research there are different type of methods and there
many websites that provide pool of information. This, way, it becomes
difficult to select appropriate selection of methods and in selecting
websites for information. The research will enable to develop problem
solving skills in effective manner.
Part Two – Undergraduate Research Proposal
Research Proposal:
There are certain set of needs and requirements that individuals have and when these are
not fulfilled, then there are certain changes identified in behaviour. People become
impatient or form aggressive nature towards others. People prefer to have comfort,
stimulation, social interaction, being free from pain, emotional wellbeing, etc. (Pulsford,
Duxbury and Hadi, 2011). However, it is being identified that people who have dementia
fail to recognise their needs. This can be determined as one of the main reason due to
which they face challenges which also includes aggression. This type of nature is formed as
it be seen as an effective way to meet the requirement of person with dementia. For
example, when a person with dementia do not get proper stimulation, then they become
bored and this causes them to behave in different way that can cause challenges. However,
when their needs of stimulation is met, then it stops the behaviour of the patient ( Husebo,
Ballard and Aarsland, 2011). Further, it is identified that there are three different type of
causes due to which people with dementia become aggressive. In this context, it includes
causes like biological, social or psychological. For biological causes it includes reasons like
illness, pain, physical discomfort, etc. When a person has this for many years and it is not
getting cured, then slowly this leads to aggressive nature. Further, for social causes, it
includes reasons like loneliness, lack of interaction, sensory deprivation, trusting particular
carer, etc. causes serious issues for the person who possess dementia ( Cooper, Selwood
and Livingston, 2010). In addition to this, psychological causes includes reasons like
person with dementia think that they are being ignored or infringed by others. This is

caused due to memory difficulties, misperceptions or issues in possessing information
(Wall and Duffy, 2010 ). Further, it also includes depression to be one of the reason due to
which person with dementia becomes aggressive. There are different type of medications
that are provided by professional so that patients with dementia are able to overcome their
problems. Dementia can be determined as health related condition in which the daily
functions that are performed by a person gets affected (Pulsford,Duxbury and Hadi, 2011 ).
This is a life long issue and can only the rate for decreasing can be done. In this context, it
is important for the patients to take their medications on regular basis and understand
different type of negative impact that are faced. It is difficult for the person with dementia
to live a normal and due to this reason there are many different type of functions that
people fail to perform and this cause a reason due to which aggressive behaviour develops
with time (Husebo, Ballard and Aarsland, 2011 ). Further, it is identified that, there are
different type of dementia that can be caused by people and it is found that for all the types
there are aggressive native that are identified. Further, there are different other set of
factors that are included due to which patients face issue in relation with aggressiveness. In
this context, it includes environmental factors in which person gets overstimulated with
loud noises, physical clutter or overactive environment (Cooper, Selwood and Livingston,
2010 ). Further, there are conditions in which the patient feel pain in any of the body part
and when they are not able to perform their role in effective manner are also determined to
be other set of reasons due to which a person get aggressive. Further, it can be stated that
there are many criminal activities that are faced by people with dementia when they are not
able to control their condition. This type of issues creates problems in which the condition
of aggressive nature becomes more worse. Further, the type of behaviour that are carried
out by individuals when they are in groups. It is found that people tent to show out their
issue or aggressive behaviour when they alone. In groups the rate of this type of nature is
low.
In order to conduct or carry out the research in effective manner, there are research aim
objectives that are developed and they are as follows:
Aim :
To understand the impact of aggressive behaviour of person with dementia who live in
community
Objectives :

To understand the reasons due to which people develop aggressive behaviour
To determine negative impact of aggressive behaviour of person with dementia.
To evaluate the impact of aggressive behaviour of person with dementia who live in
community.
To recommend ways to reduce the rate of aggressive behaviour of people with
dementia.
Research Questions:
What are the reasons due to which people develop aggressive behaviour ?
What are the negative impact of aggressive behaviour on person with dementia ?
What are the impact of aggressive behaviour of person with dementia who live in
community ?
Method:
To carry out the research in effective manner, there are different type of journals articles
that will be considered. Recent journals that enables to provide appropriate answers for the
research topic will be selected. There are two different type of methods that are helpful
enough to gather information, these are primary and secondary . Primary are those
information that are collected for the first time. It includes tools like interview,
questionnaire, focus groups and observation. Further, to gather primary information,
questionnaire will be given and the respondents will be patients with dementia . These
respondents are selected as they have proper understanding and in depth knowledge about
the research topic. On the other hand, secondary information are those that are already
gathered by some other researchers. It includes sources like books, journals, online articles.
In addition to this, sample method is also important for the researcher to select and so non
probabilistic sampling method will be used. This will be favourable enough to select
appropriate respondents for the research. More specifically, the sample size that will be
selected is 50 respondents. In short, both primary and secondary method will be applied to
gather information.
