Introduction
Skills play an important and crucial role in an individual life from which they
can be able to develop and grow in the future. Skills are the ability which a
person have from which they can be able to deliver the effectiveness and
can get the profitable results, academic session and career life become
effective when learner try to focus on adopting new skills, they can
become effective and achieve new things accordingly. These different
types of skills help the person in their academics and professional life as
well and supports them to achieve their goals (Tursunovna, 2022), skills of
individual does matter when it comes to career development process, it is
very clear that both academic and personal skills are important in the
process of career and life development. Individual can achieve goals in
their life if they have ability to analyse these skills and make certain
improvement accordingly, common and basic skills may include
communication skills, leadership skills, active listening skills and many
other skills which make an individual effective. The report will illustrate the
professional development plan from which an individual should have
required to adopt for the better professional growth.
Reflection on Professional Development
An individual person is required to adopt the different types of skills so that
they can be able to improve their own skills and abilities and can grow
definitely. In my opinion, when I identify that skills play an important role in
my life as it will help me to increase my knowledge and capability and can
strengthen me at personal and professional life. During the module, I had
learned many types of skills which make me believe and ensure me to
learn and adopt the numerous skills which will be very beneficial for me at
my professional development. Recently, I am working as a security officer
at the company named SECURTY SERVICES where for achieving this
position and role I met to different areas of development of my own from
which today I am able to get the opportunity to work as this position
(KarnieliMiller and NeufeldKroszynski, 2020).
Being a security officer I met to many difficulties at first to achieve
the position and job role. For achieving this job role firstly I had assessed
and identify the different occupational choices and identify that which job
role and position is suitable for me to apply. Researching ability and skill is
required to be adopted and enhanced by me so that I was able to
recognize and examine the suitable job role and position. Throughout the
researching I find out many occupational choices such as government
contract security guards, in-house security, contract security, patrol guards
and such more where I had chosen to adopt and apply for corporate

security officer job role at the Security Services company. As, I was able to
identify my suitable job role I learn and adopt the CV writing skill and
interview skill which is the next step for me to cover up. Applying for a job,
I am required to write a CV or resume of my own for the selection in the
interview process (Lawson, Gill, and et.al., 2019). For learning the CV
writing skills it includes the basic grammar, vocabulary and spellings which
helps me to write an appropriate CV for applying for a job. After the CV
writing skill, now I required to learn the interview skill which help me to get
selected for my chosen job role. The interview skill includes the
preparation, confidence or motivation and most importantly listening skill
which helped me to achieve the opportunity to get my suitable job position.
I learned and adopted the coaching skill as it will be very beneficial
and useful for me to coach and guide the security guards under my
position. For being a security officer I am required to understand and adopt
the guiding and coaching skills where I learned this skill for giving the
appropriate instructions to the guards (Kim, 2019). After the selection in
the interview, I learned the coaching skills which helps me to guide my
colleagues. Negotiation skills are used to maintain the positive interaction
and minimize the aggressive behaviour of the people. Adopting and
learning this skill help me a lot to perform and conduct my job
responsibilities effectively. I learned so many skills which helped me a lot
to improve myself at professional level and can earn the profitability
accordingly. Learning the skills helps and supports me to grow and
develop myself as a professional and made me to grow in my career.
Reflection on Personal Development
Personal development plan is the activities where an individual person
focuses on their own strength and development areas. There are different
types of skills which I need and required to be obtained and improved by
myself which helps me to a lot in growing myself accurately. In my
personal growth and development, I analysed that I am required to learn
self-leadership skill which helps me to develop myself appropriately. Self-
leadership skill is an ability and act which helps me to lead myself to
achieve the set goals and targets and can deliver the effective result at
professional level as well (Jensen, Beaulieu, and et.al., 2018). By
evaluating myself, I understand that I am required increasing or improving
my self-leadership skill or ability which helps me conduct myself
appropriately from which I can be able to grow in personal and
professional life. Adopting this self-leadership skill generates a feeling of
willingness to achieve my set goals and targets so that I can grow at my
organizational level.
Adopting the self-leadership skill helps me to focus and be in
discipline which is the most important area to encourage me to become a
security officer at the mentioned company. Along with this, I am also
required to improve my communication skill which is one of the important
factor as communication is first thing an individual person adopts to

convey their speech and sayings. I learned that there are mainly two types
of communication skill which are verbal and written. These both skills are
useful and essential to be adopted by me as it helps me to convey my
speech and information to another person. Communication ability helps
me at every area either personal or professional where I can be able to
give my opinions, concerns and suggestions to the people or management
at workplace (Dwyer, 2019). Learning and adopting the communication
skill by taking part in social public speaking helps me to enhance my
communication skill verbally and for written skill I used to do practise on
regular basis and utilized the dictionary which helps me to understand the
meaning of different kinds of words.
By learning this ability, it helps me to perform well at my job role of
security officer where I am able to communicate with the people in
effective manner. Also, problem-solving skill is also important for me to
develop as it will help me to grow individually and can be able to obtain
fruitful result at organizational level. Problem-solving skill is defined as an
individual person can be able to solve their issues by understanding the
problem effectively and can take the action according to the situation. This
skill can help me in effective manner at my job and provides the solution
definitely. For improving my problem-solving skill, I had required to
enhance my researching and analysis skill which can help me a lot in
understanding the issue accurately and can take the actions (Hill, Overton,
and et.al., 2019). By learning the problem solving skill it helps and
supports me to achieve my target of getting the job role of security officer
and can manage the situation easily.
At personal level, understanding the problem-solving skill can help
me identify the solutions of my own experience and situation where it also
will be very beneficial for me in my future career where at professional
level from this skill I will be able to deliver the effective and appropriate
solution of the issue and obstacle. At last, I had understood and learned
the emotional intelligence skill which defines as an ability to manage own
emotions and feelings from which an individual can overcome their issues
and challenges positively. Having the emotional intelligence skill helps me
to communicate and interact with the clients and people more effectively
from which an adequate manner of security check activity can occur. This
skill help me to grow definitely and can improve myself at professional
level.
Reflection on Academic Development
The academic development of person can be done when an individual
person has adopted academic skills. Academic skill is the ability to learn,
research, report writing and presentations in the academic level which
increases the knowledge of a person and helps to perform well. For
growing in professional level, academic skill helps me a lot in making my
career at successful level. Time management skill is very beneficial for me
to adopt and improve as it will help me to work effectively from where I

also can manage my time for personal and professional areas. Working at
professional level, requires to have a brief understanding about the time
management skill which is important to be considered by me as it will help
to complete my project on time. Time management is very useful and
effective skill each and individual person should carry out and can obtain
the beneficial results (Nisha and et.al., 2018).
The time management skill motivates and encourages me to handle
the organizational work and activity and can deliver the effectiveness. In
academic, I improved my time management skill by creating a definite plan
and schedule of my working with a definite deadline which helps me to
manage my work and time accordingly. I prioritize my work which helps
me to complete on time and can submit my project before the deadlines.
Also, I had learned about the reflection skill which refers as an individual
person can be able to express their experience and can adopt the
knowledge and can learn from the experience definitely. Writing a
reflection is one of the most important academic skill which can help me to
express my feelings and experience at effective level (Dillahunt, Lam, and
et.al., 2018). For reflective my experience I used the Gibbs model of
reflection at my academic where I learned the reflective writing which
helps and supports me a lot in learning from my experience.
This reflective skill helps me at professional level where I can be
able to show and express my experience in definite manner from which my
colleagues and staff members can understand the situation correctly and
can learn from my experience in definite way which also helps to stay
aware of such things according to my experience. This reflective writing is
quite difficult at first but when I learned this skill I enjoy writing the
reflective areas and reflective myself which also helps other people and
increase their learnings and knowledge. Along with this, I also learned
reference skill which helps me to avoid the copyright works and plagiarism
by making it clear that the written format has been written by me and not
copied from any other sources. Referencing skill ensures that the content
and information I gather and collect is not copied and it also expresses the
academic structure.
At professional level, referencing skill is important to be utilized at
organizational level where it helps to interact and acknowledge the
working of the people effectively (Newman, Black, and et.al., 2021).
Academic skills help me a lot in making my career and job at appropriate
track from which I am able to obtain the fruitful results at professional level.
Learning and implementation of the academic skills helps me to conduct

Week 1
Which aspect of today’s session did I find most interesting? Why?
In the t today's session, the one of the significant aspect which is found by me is
to possess the reliable evaluation of the skills and attribute has become possible.
This is one of the crucial factor that has helped me to get the precise
understanding about the prevailing strengths and weaknesses of mine so that the
proper action for meeting specific requirements can become possible. The main
reason behind liking this assessment part is that it is highly helpful in gaining the
data regarding in the accurate pattern so that personal evaluation for
accomplishing objectives is done. This has allowed me to learn the significance of
the skills, attributes and styles for having relevant practices for accomplishing
productive results via having good motivation. On the basis of this, information I
came to know how I can give emphasis on attaining the ability to use the good
skills which can help in completing the tasks in accurate format. The one thing is I
am not sure about is that which is the crucial element that can promote the
motivation and clarity regarding the session learnings so that using in future can
become possible.
I might have learnt more if major focus on the crucial aspects such as
understanding reason for studying this session. Concentrating on tutor given
guidelines so that accomplishing the goals to possess higher skills that can help in
having effective results. These would have e permitted me to eliminate the lacking
areas such as ineffective negotiations, time management, etc. Things I want to do
now is to make the action plan in respect to obtain reliable functioning for
overcoming the weakening parts in turn good ability to perform my tasks can
become possible. This can lead me towards effective performance to derive
productive results.
Week 2
This week’s session which was related to Career Planning – taking action which
explained the importance of development opportunities and grabbing such
opportunities and finally taking action. The most interesting aspect of today’s
session was about the SMART goals i.e., our goals shall be smart, measurable,
attainable, relevant and time based. These are the smaller goals we need to
achieve to our ultimate larger objective. Such SMART goals shall be very clear,
particular achievement for accomplishment of the ultimate goal, whether the goals
and objectives are feasible to be achieved, whether the goals will be contributing
toward the long term plans and devising both short as well as long term goals to
maintain the motivation to achieve the final objective.
One important thing that I learnt is that the skills are very necessary to achieve the
desired goals because we get the jobs according to our skills and experience, our
sense of responsibility which again comes from the skills and experience and our

ability to learn new skills (Urban and et.al., 2021). Also, the process of taking
action will involve knowing where we are now, then deciding what we want to do,
then planning on how will we get there, then taking an action on such planning and
finally reviewing the progress to see whether we were able to achieve the desired
outcome (7 exciting career opportunities in business management. 2022). I’m not
sure about the organisations in which I will be able to apply for the job as no
information was given. So resultantly, if the information regarding the various top
organisations providing jobs in the field of corporate investment banking or
stockbroking would have been given and also the information regarding their
process of recruitment then I might have learnt more.
Now, keeping in mind the above discussion and choosing the career prospective
of corporate investment banker or a stockbroker I want to look for the opportunities
to develop my maths skills, communication skills and decision making skill (Hertig,
Powell and Richardson, 2020). This can be done through taking up small jobs in
the field of my choice before going for the ultimate job position of my choosing.
This way I will be able to gain experience and real world knowledge of how the
industry really works and thus I will be able to better perform in the future along
with following the finance and investment journals, material and magazines and
following the current news on the same.
Week 3
From the overall sessions that is had attended till now I can say that all the
sessions were quite interesting and helped me to gain the new knowledge about
the things that were earlier unknown to me to quite extent. Moreover, today
sessions was covered on the topic of leadership skills and its importance in any
workplace. Furthermore, I have realized that leaders are ones that supports other
people in a y group and provide them the right direction so that certain goals are
accomplished in right manner (Philip and Gavrilova Aguilar, 2022). Also, the good
leader is one that understand the problems of others and also remain active in
providing solution to the problems that have suffered by any of the member. Thus,
I have realized that to become the good leaders it is required that there is
presence of certain other skills so that proper roles and duties might be delegated
to the group of people. Moreover, in today's learning most interesting aspect of
learning was to make people motivated to carry out certain activities. This seemed
to me quite interesting as I myself have analysed certain ways like speaking
positive statements, encouraging people, hearing other and much more that tends
to make other people positive in long run. Hence, it was quite creative and
innovative way of making people work for the certain challenging task.
Furthermore, I am not sure that the above listed things always work in all type of
situation as I myself had not practically applied in any workplace (Ashiq, Rehman
Safdar and Ali, 2021). However, I was told being the leader this practically works in
almost all situations if other people tend to be cooperative in understanding the
situation. Also, one thing I have learnt that being patient is very essential as it
helps make leaders analyse the situation and the efforts that each individual have
contributed in making certain things work. Also, it helps in situations where the
chances of conflicts are very high as it would allow in hearing both the party
opinions and then reaching to any conclusion in the end. Moreover, I would be
able to learnt more well if after the learning sessions I have researched more

For me the Self-awareness sessions can be said to be the most effective I have
been able to develop some strong sense of self-awareness with the help of my

awareness because I have been able to make a good sense of the own abilities
and current limitations which are required for generation of self-awareness
schemes.

From this session I have been able to successfully develop strong sense of social
skills which are very useful for me to develop the ability to handle emotions in
relationships and also be able to influence others with inspirations.

I am not sure about my ability with adaptability as I lack the experience for being a
professional with relations to the different sets of adaptability operations. It has
been considered that I am not aware of the actions that needs to be taken under
certain emotional situations.
I might have learnt more if
I can be able to learn even more if I am able to generalize the factors which
contribute towards the development of the influences that bring the essential
foundations of skills and success to the team and their leadership. I need more
opportunities in order to be more responsible related to the work I want to

Which aspect of today’s session did I find most interesting? Why?
In my opinion there are various form of the aspects which is need to be taken into
the consideration by me for gaining the reliable ability to show my competencies.
The one of the interesting part that is found more interesting by me in the today’s
session is having insights about the various crucial components that is required to
be take into the consideration so that formulating creative and precise CV. This
can permit me to grab the various opportunities prevailing in the market for
developing enhance career so that significant pattern of competencies possessed
in me can be utilized. One thing that is learnt by me in the session is that it is
important to understand the significance of altering CV as per the prevailing
requirements of company by ensuring corrective objective. The main behind this
is that it can allow to cover the strong position in obtaining the vacancy that can
help in receiving good career.
The one thing that I am not sure about is having the ability of maintaining the
employability via focusing on all the aspects h such as adaptability, human &
social capital and proper identification of career. In my views possessing
motivation all the time to meet this criterion might not possible which can hamper
the career development. I might have learnt more if I have given focus on
developing more skills as per the industrial trends which can give me better
capability to meet my objective of higher success. There is absence of this thing in
me which is need to be improved o that the effectual pattern of growth graph can
be derived by me. In this case I would have learnt more so having the effective
pattern of assurance for achieving success via developing effective competencies.
In need to focus on the certain major aspects which includes paying attention on
developing specific skills which can contribute in building proper position to grab
career opportunities.
Week 6
In the today session I had learnt about the ways of going on the interview and what
are the things that needed to be considered while approaching for any kind of
interview sessions. Also, the most interesting part of the session was preparing the
CV that is most crucial and important for the future professional growth and
development while working in any sector. Furthermore, one thing that I have learnt
is that interviews need to be faced in all aspects of life and hence it is required that
these are faced with confidence so that certain questions are answered in the best
manner (Bälter and et.al., 2018). Also, I have realized that interview sessions are
quite interesting when the communication skills are quite good as it would allow in
proper exchange of thoughts and also the best engagement would be developed.
Furthermore, I have realized that there are various types of interviews that are
conducted while entering into the professional world and it depends upon the job
role that is needed to be performed. Also, most commonly interviews that are been
taken in the online interviews where the people are able to communicate with each
other even while working in remote areas. Furthermore, one thing I am not sure
about the whole learning sessions is whether digital interviews are more goods
than compare to panel interviews because the digital interviews are for limited time
but the panel interviews consist more of the closed ended questions and much

longer time (Oliffe and et.al., 2021). However, I am very sure after this session that
it doesn't matter on the type of interview but it matters how much research had
been done to appear for any kind of interview sessions. Also, it is very important to
have complete knowledge of strength and weakness before only so that questions
might be answered in best of manner. Also, it would help in facing the group
interviews in effective manner in due course of time. Furthermore, I might have
learnt more about interviews if I myself had discussed the same with my friends or
peers before appearing such kind of learning sessions as it would allow me to
have more useful insights about such things. Also, some things I want to do know
is to appear the panel interview sessions while opting for the field of my choice so
that I would be able to follow the tips that are essential for interview preparation
(Wolff and Burrows, 2021). Furthermore, I have learnt that receiving the feedback
is also important part of the interview sessions as it helps in identifying the areas of
improvement that is essential for my own personal growth and development. Also,
I want to appear more for seminars where certain general interview questions are
being described clearly so that I could be more prepared to face critical interview
question and is able to answer them in best of manner. Thus, I not sure that
whether this learning gained during the sessions would be used by me in the best
manner in the future or not.
Week 7
In today’s sessions, the most interest topic was which addressed the overcoming
of writer’s block i.e., finding the creativity inside which we are not able to access
sometimes when we are required immediately to perform a certain task. For this
an activity of drawing in the given circles was conducted which was fun and forced
me to think out of the box. Also, sometimes we just stop writing something in
between out of any reason like not getting appropriate words to right or lack of
ideas.
The thing I noticed while attending such session was that somewhere our creativity
is also responsible for the quality of content we are able to pour in for the given
topic. The day we are feeling energized and creative, we will automatically use
better phrases and words and will be able to form better structured sentences and
the day we are out of ideas or words or not feeling creative, we will face difficulties
framing the most basic sentences and will gradually drop the writing work.
Also, I learnt that writing in more academic style will result in more formal style of
writing which is better presenting and more structured to read and listen to
(Setyaningsih and Larassati, 2021).
Now, to develop and enhance such creativity and the resultant improved ability of
writing and vocabulary, a proper physical and more importantly, mental
environment shall be designed and to put pressure on mind in brainstorming the
ideas which will then gradually become a habit and become easy. Also, I learnt
that directly aiming for perfection is never going to be a good idea. Starting from
the basics and developing the ideas and slowly & gradually working our way
towards toward attaining improvement is the correct way. Maintaining a personal
diary or a log to have a habit of writing daily will also help tremendously in
improving the writing ability. Also the log can be used to maintain the record of
important and difficult words and phrases is a good habit to be able to learn and

revise wherever and whenever possible.
Week 8
The aspect that I found most interesting in today’s sessions-
The aspect of importance of reviews was the most interesting aspect. Organisation
now conducts performance reviews frequently so that timely evaluation of the

to overcome the weaknesses can be identified (Hernández-Ortega, 2020). The
main purpose of performance reviews are generally classified in two segments-
The main or primary use of these reviews are to evaluate the performance of the
employees and increase their productivity by analysing their strengths and
weaknesses and acting accordingly. The secondary use of these reviews is to
identify the administrative needs like decisions regarding the compensations,
promotions, etc. and the developmental needs of the employees.
The one thing I learnt
The one thing that I learnt is the performance reviews are beneficial for both, the
organisation and the employees. It is useful to the organisation as it can help to
identify the strengths and weaknesses of the employees so that the required
training and development plans can be made accordingly and also promotions and
compensation can be fairly done. It is beneficial for the employees as they are
motivated to perform better and this motivation also enhances their self-esteem
when they are praised for success.
I’m not sure about
I’m not certain about the frequency these reviews should be done in. As various
organisations and employees have different perspectives and opinions about the
time intervals that should be given between two intervals (Mourão and et.al.,
2020). Also the need for these reviews is different is different organisations and for
different employees. Hence, I am not sure about what would be the effective time
period in which the reviews should be conducted and if a same time period should
be decided for everyone or different plans should be made for various departments
in the organisation.
I might have learnt more if
I might have learnt more if the session included more examples and especially
real-life examples to make the points clearer as learning these aspects with the
examples taken from various organisations or situations would have been more
effective and easier to understand and implement in real life situations (Lacka,
Chan and Wang, 2020).
Things I want to do now
Now I want to understand and learn these aspects in better ways by using various

Week 9
Which aspect of today’s session did I find most interesting? Why?
While attending today session the most interesting aspect of the session was
understanding the detail about the topic coaching. As the main aspect of coaching
results in improving the performance and achieving the overall effectiveness with
coaching the behaviour of the individual in life for self-realising and effectively
communicating by achieving greater responsibility. With studying the wheel of life
help in identifying the good areas and lacking which needs improvements for
working better in life. Thus the mist excited part is to understanding the wheel of
life which helps in providing information about the good and the areas of
improvements.
The thing which I have learned is coaching mainly helps in attaining positive
changes in life. As by attaining coaching and getting training helps in building self-
confidence and provide higher job life satisfaction this results in attaining higher
productivity. Thus coaching helps in attaining and achieving various benefits in life.
Also I have learned about the GROW model which helps in establishing and
setting the specific measurable, achievable within time frame goals for improving
the lacking areas.
I’m not sure about building the good connection as I am weak at socialising and
showing empathy towards others. from this I was not able to communicate
effectively to all the individual while attending this session. This hinders my growth
and attaining the knowledge towards building better relations with others.
I might have learnt more if I was able to communicating effectively with other. As
being the introvert personality I was not more socialising a and communicating
with other while attaining the lectures during the sessions. This hinders my
knowledge gaining capacity by not able to converse and exchange the viewpoints
with other as to learn effectively about coaching and its importance in life.
Things I want to do now, as for improving the Community and networking skill for
communicating more effective in life and learning with attaining all the session on
time helps in learning about the session in effective way by learning about
coaching and Using the life wheel for identifying the areas of improvements.
Week 10
The current session was based on the project management skills that are the most
required skills in the today’s era. This was the most interesting part I have got the
learning of skills that helps me to have the development in my career. I have learnt
about the things like management of the projects by having the good scheduling of
the time. The thing I was not sure about that this session will be helpful for me in
my near future. As I was not able to attend the full session due to which I miss
some things which I could have might learnt from there. I have to work on my
communication skills that help me to develop the proper communication with the

people. As it is very important for the people to have the proper management of
the people in the university. I have to develop my skill that is leadership skills that
is the most required skills which helps me to have the proper setting of the work.
Further my active listening was good that helps me to have the learning of good
and interesting things in the session. Further in order to have good communication
skills it helps me to have good conversation with the people. This helps me
develop and enhance my active-listening skill. This was one of the best sessions
that helps me to have improvement in leadership skills and makes me good leader
in the workplace. I will also do the on the job training that helps me to know about
the work performed in the organization. By having the regular practice on the
development it will improve my management skills. By developing this skills, it
helps me to have bright future by having enhance in my skills and knowledge and
develop my future.
Week 11
From the week session I have learnt about the various techniques in order to have
the best negotiation in order to perform the work. By having the good negotiation, it
helps the person to develop it career and have the good solution of the situation in
the market. This helps me to have development in my communication skills by
having the communication with the people in the session. By having this session
this helps me to have the understanding about the power balance in the working
by setting the time for each element in order to do work. I have also established
and build a rapport that helps me to have better negotiation in the future. As it is
very important for the people to know about have the building of rapport. By having
the good communication with the people it also helps me to develop my active
listening skills. This was the best session attended by me which helps me to
improve my skills and improves the quality of working. In order to have the win
situation it helps the person to achieve the goals in order to avoid the issues
related to negotiation. As there are various types of people in the market that used
to have effect on having the negotiation in the market. So in order to handle them it
is very necessary to have the best active and communication skills. This will help
me to have enhancement in my further skills and improves my future as well. By
having the development, it will improve the performance and helps me to grow.
This includes the working on the goal and taking the feedback that helps me to
know about the better working in my future. This will help me to full focus on my
work it will help me to have in the professional development.
