INTRODUCTION
Operation management refers to the conversion of raw materials into goods and services for
increasing the profitability of the organisation as well as also helps in creating the highest level
of efficiency to the organisation. Apple is taken as the base company. Apple is considered as one
of the best tech companies in US which is specialises in providing electronic devices as
smartphones, computers, ipod many may more. This company was incorporated in 1977 and
having annual revenues of $260 billion. The CEO of Apple is Steve Jobs which changes the
whole scenario of the company and now become the top company in converting billions of lives
by contributing to the digital revolution. In this report, it covers the role of leader and functions
of managers and also the role of leaders in various management contexts. In addition to it, it also
includes the suggestions and justification for improving the various issues regarding to the
organisation. In context to the selected company, the roles of leader and function of manager is
mentioned below-

Difference between role of a leader and function of a manager
Role of a leader:
Leaders are those who inspire and engaging people for converting vision to the reality
and know that tasks can be achieved easily when people work together. They try to make change
in the organisation so that it could gain advantage to the company (Alhadi and et. al., 2020).
Leaders are considered as those who create and develop their own ways of completing work as
well as try to stand out the crowd. They try new strategies for implementing to the organisation
as they think failure is the path of success. In context to Apple, the leader knows the potential of
their employees and resists themselves for giving instructions to them as employees can work on

their own. This allows employees to feel confident about their work as well as helps in
increasing the productivity of them.
Function of a manager:
Manager has the function of setting, analysing and achieving the goals. They are strictly
stick to their structure and system and performs to improve them. The leadership styles of
managers are copied from the competitor’s strategies and competencies. A manager tries to
minimize the risk as they try to control and avoid the problems. The manager of the selected
company assigns the tasks to the employees and provides assistance which helps in
accomplishing them (Ambrose, Matthews and Rutherford., 2018). The chances to failure of work
are less as well as the work done by the employees will be good.

Apple is one of the big tech companies which is working since 1977. This company has
gone through many changes regarding with the market, its competitive and structure. Recently,
they have launched iPhone 12 which is getting popular in the market and due to this, the
company is unable to fulfil the demands of customers for providing them iPhone 12 on time.
Along with this, there is quality issues related to the phone such as its short battery life and slow
performance as well. Organization skills of managers help the company in monitoring all the
progress and allocate priorities for keeping the work and team on track (Giudici, and et. al.,
2021). The issues faced by the organisation can be improved with the help of skills of managers
which leads to allocating different tasks for resolving them. As the leader has the focus on day to
day responsibilities, the leader sets a clear vision for the company by making different strategies
and proving directions to the entire organisation. They have set vision for improving the issues of
the company also plans strategies for implementing in order to make sure not to face such type of
issues in the future.
1(b) Analysing the achievements of Steve Jobs
Steve Jobs was known as genius engineer, a great innovator and a talented manager, born
in 1955 was the co-founder and CEO of Apple Inc. . Along with this, he was also the chairman
and majority of shareholder of Pixar as well as CEO and chairman of NeXT. He has touched
many milestones in business and computer technology which helps in making the life easier.
