INTRODUCTION
Operation management considered as an area that signifies controlling, designing and
improvement of operation of organisation in process of production. In assistance of this, it also
involves redesigning of function which is linked with improvement of product and services. In
given assignment, UBER is determined as American company that provide vehicle facility for
hire, provide effective delivery of food, package delivery and many more. This company was
founded by Garrett Camp and Travis Kalanick in year of 2009. In addition with difference
between them linked with role. Apart from this, the approaches of leader are explained in
appropriate manner. In addition to this operation administration approaches, significance of
operation administration in enhancing profitability and element impose direct effect on operation
administration and decisions taken by leader is discussed in this assignment (Detroja, 2016).

P1 Define roles of leader & manager
Background of the company:
UBER is determined as American company that provide vehicle facility for hire, provide
effective delivery of food, package delivery and many more. This company was founded by
Garrett Camp and Travis Kalanick in year of 2009. The organisational structure which is
followed by UBER is hierarchical term. It includes different level of individual person which is
controlled by various departments. The primal aim of success of organisation is having a talented
subordinate to offer quality and timely facility to its user.
Manager is responsible to control and administer subordinate within company. In
assistance of this, they perform duty for looking towards team in different situation faced. The
leader emphasized on encouraging subordinate to increase productivity as well as level of
creativity for achieving objective in pre-decided period of time. In assistance of this, the leader
provides direction to its subordinate that is used in appropriate execution of activity and function
of organisation. The role of leader and manager is given beneath:

Vision setting the primary reason is objective of subordinate which is linked with
company’s objective. It is significant for leader to provide guidance to subordinate those results
in vision is achieved within given time period.
Decision maker the other role which is played by leader is take appropriate decisions
according to condition that is occur in market so that advantages can be achieved by both
company and subordinate as well. In this process, it is important for leader to possess appropriate
communication skills that assists in providing information to subordinate in proper way.
Role of manager
Allocation of resources is determined as a major role which is played by manager that
assists organisation in earning higher level of profit margin and increase performance. The
manager assigned resources that assist in reducing cost of organisation and maintaining balance
between demand as well as supply. In reference of chosen organisation, the top management
emphasized on choosing right person that is used in appropriate allocation towards resources
Monitoring the role is to assess and monitor whole performance level of subordinate that
help in increasing appropriate strategy. In assistance of this, it is assessing that manager use
performance according to set standard that help in achieving objectives in timely manner. In
relevance of chosen organisation, the top management focuses on assessing performance level of
subordinate that assist in increasing productivity of organisation (Janta, 2016).
Characteristics of leader
Effective communication it is important for leader to possess appropriate
communication that assist in providing instruction or guidance to subordinate in appropriate way.
In assistance of this, it assists in maintaining appropriate interaction with subordinates which will
help in motivating those to perform work that help in achieving objectives of company.
Self control is the capability to understand what is good for organisation and what is not.
Therefore it encourage subordinate to achieve goal as well as vision in particular phase of time
period.
Characteristics of manager
Time administration the primal characteristics of manager is time administration that
assists in handling activity and functions in timely manner.
Delegation it is assess that manager provide authority to its subordinates as per
competency and perform various activities in proper manner.
