INTRODUCTION
Operations management is concerned with constructing, monitoring, supervising and
controlling business operations during the production stage of product. Operations management
involves building and modifying practices related to construction of goods and services in a way
which help the company reach their goals. This report takes TESCO into consideration which
was established in Hackney, London in the year 1919 and is largest member of the retail industry
in UK (Jeffery, 2018). This report describes role of leaders and managers in different conditions
along with application of appropriate leadership models and theories. This report also includes
approaches and responsibilities of leaders in operations management. Significance of operations
management in helping the organisation achieve their objectives and factors which affect
operations management and decision making by leaders and managers.
MAIN BODY
TASK 1
Evaluate the comparison between the roles and characteristics of a leaders and mangers within
the organisation.
It includes management concept is wider and broader concept which refers to developing
new theories in order easily achieving organisational goal and objectives. It is concept which
refers to managers implementing new policies in order to improving performance of employees
which result as helps to enhancing profitability and productivity of company.
Manger-: It includes managers plays vital role in organisation order to managing various
activities such as managerial and administrative (Barnes, 2018). In relevance of organisation, it
involves various activities which result as staffing, controlling, directing and many others. The
main aim and purpose which are helps to improving performance of employees in order to
smoothly run the business operations. It is process which including managing business functions
which are essential for enterprise in order to survive in the market for longer period of time.
Leaders-: It is person who lead, inspire and developing team spirit among the existing
employees. In reference of organisation, it includes they are motivated and encouraging

employees in order to enhancing their productivity because employees as valuable assets for the
organisation.
Differentiate between the roles of managers and leaders.
It includes both the person are important for an organisation in order to sustain for longer
period of time which result as achieving organisation goal and objectives. It includes formulated
strategy which are essential in order to analysed the external environment in order to managing
activities which result as gaining competitive advantages. It includes difference between the role
and managers which are discussed below.

Management functions:
It includes various products and services which result as managers performed the
services effectively and efficiently in order to achieving organisation goal and objectives. In
context of Tesco, which refers to implementing various strategies which result as gaining
competitive advantages (Celik, 2017). There are ample numbers functions which are discussed
below.
Planning-: It includes manager of company which are preparing proper plan and execute
effectively which result as minimizing situations and conditions in order to enhancing
profitability and productivity of company.
