2MANAGEMENT
I have been born and brought up in a moderately liberal cultural background. As I was
not from a very posh city area I did not really know speaking English, I remember that when I
was staying in the village, mostly I used to speak in the local dialect. Thus I used to face a lot of
problems while interacting with the other students after I enrolled myself at the university.
I have developed skills like English reading and writing skills. I started working over
these aspects right after enrolling myself into this course. I did this because I realized in order to
establish a good career for myself in the near future; I have to develop the English speaking skill.
I will have to interact with so many different people coming from many different backgrounds.
Thus I have to develop a good competency in the Global language speaking (Leong and Ahmadi
2017). Before doing the skill audits I was able to understand others while they spoke in English
language but at some points of times I missed out some important aspects. Thus I started
practicing regularly. After undertaking the skills audit, I realized that I have developed my
writing skills and I can take the running notes that are being taught in the classroom sessions. I
realized that when my teacher was teaching a lesson and giving some fast notes and dictations in
that class, I could understand them and also note them down in my cope in a proper manner.
Though I missed out some little points or complicated pronunciations I realized that I can
improvise those as I managed to take down rest of the points. This showed that I have really
improved in nonverbal English writing skill.
Reading is one such area where I can still develop a lot. As I mentioned I have developed
the English writing skill but I feel that I still need to work over the speaking and reading skill.
Whenever my teacher asks to read out any extracts from the textbooks, I feel nervous because I
cannot read in an uninterrupted and fluent way. I often stammer in between as I am not able to
utter several pronunciations. I also have a bit of problem in conveying my doubts or queries in
