BACKGROUND AND INFORMATIONOccupational health and wellbeing are being defined as the concept in which efforts aremade with regard to promote health and wellbeing of employees at the workplace. Herein, it canbe said that it is the responsibility of employees that it should make efforts in terms ofmaintaining the health and safety of its employees (Carroll and et.al., 2018). This is due to thefact that if it is not done then in this situation image of the firm will be affected in a negative wayif something wrong will happen with employees at the workplace. There are a number of studies is being carried out in the given subject. Thus, it has beenidentified from the conducted study that firm that put the focus on the health and wellbeing of itsemployees tends to get benefits in the form of reduced absenteeism from work and high level ofmotivation among employees etc. It is because of given reason only health and wellbeing ofemployees is important. In this study, the discussion will be carried out on the health andwellbeing of Singapore based manufacturing company employees. Herein, SingaporeToyopower Automotive and Industries is taken into consideration. In this regard, detaildescription will be given regarding the 5 concepts that are related to health and wellbeingprogram. HEALTH AND WELLBEING IN WORKPLACEAs per the report of the World Health Organization, it is identified that health is beingregarded as the central point of human happiness as well as wellbeing. The study also indicatesthat a healthy population is more productive and always tries to put its best efforts in relation tothe work that is being assigned to them in an effectual way. On the other hand, for SingaporeToyopower Automotive and Industries, it is very important that it should put the major focus onthe given concepts (Curtis and O’ferrall, 2018). This is due to the fact that it is examined thatthere is some work in the manufacturing firm that comes under the category of high risk. Forexample, such type of work could be placing material from one place to another and work withthe machinery that is very risky for the life of an individual. On the other hand, there are someother factors also that affect the wellbeing of employees. It consists of working with highly toxicgases. These all things will have a negative influence on the health of the employees who areworking in a manufacturing firm (Nogueira, van der Linde and Botha, 2018). 1

In addition to this, it is also identified that for the firm it is very important that it shouldensure the health and wellbeing of its employees. This is because employees tend to spend theirmajority of time in the workplace. Thus, it is the responsibility of manufacturing firm’semployees that it should make effort in terms of providing them an effective environment ofworking (Chari and et.al., 2018). If this is not done then impact of the same will be seen on thetype of performance that is being given by employees at work. This thing will also affect theprofit of the firm. BALANCING SAFETY AND HEALTH WITH HEALTH ANDWELLBEINGHere, for the manufacturing company, it is very important that it should always makeefforts in terms of putting a major focus on the safety of employees instead of wellbeing. Inaccordance with the given context, Murphy (2018) has depicted that the risk of an accident ismore in the manufacturing firm. Thus, it is because of the given reason only it is very importantfor the firm that it should make efforts in terms of ensuring the health safety of its employees. However, it has also being examined that apart from health safety, employees in manufacturingfirm is also burdened with lots and lots of heavy work. Thus, it is because of the given reasononly it is being required by the firm that it should focus on the wellbeing of its employees in aneffectual manner. Thus, it is very correct to say that it is very significant for the firm that itshould always try to maintain a balance between the health and safety of its employees. Herein, the given aim can be achieved by following Singapore total workplace safety andhealth model. This model is basically an integrated approach that manages health and safety ofthe employees at the workplace. This includes different proactive assessments with the help ofwhich manager of the firm can get an idea about the risks and thus through collaborative effortsthings are done with an aim to manage the risks that are being identified by the manager in aneffectual way. 2
