RESEARCH TOPIC
Introduction
Staff development is the process of ensuring that the staff and personnel present within
the association can maintain and develop their skills and knowledge to carry out the assigned
work in the most effective manner (Appelbaum and et. al., 2018). As conducting these staff
development plans and programmes will enable the organisation in enhancing their overall
productivity and profitability margin with the support of their well trained staffs. This concepts
of staff development within the association is important as this will boost the confidence of the
personnel to perform with their best efforts towards the achievement of the business goal.
Conducting various staff development programmes will support the business in attaining the
level of growth by increasing efficiency, consistency. With the staff development programmes
the business can easily form their own working procedure and strategies as all the staff has been
trained in such a manner that they can perform the task with different level of strategies. The
chosen association to carry out this research work is Billesley Manor Hotel which is having the
best inspiring location along with the ranking of the 4 star hotel. This research is going to
describe various aspects and topics such as identification of the diverse training needs,
identification of the SWOT analysis and value chain analysis which support in the understanding
of the organisation issues.
Research significance
Staff development significantly will leads the business to the level of extreme growth as
providing staff with the effective training will help the business in enhancing and improving their
overall employees performance and productivity (Baker and Bloom, 2013). Staff developments
programmes will also help the business in addressing their weaknesses and in gaining a
competitive advantage so that the business can sustain in the competitive edge for a longer
duration of time.
Personal interest – The main aim of research is to analyse staff development and its impact on
growth of company. Within this investigator will work hard to know how employees of hotel
serve customer in better manner which help in growth of business.

Social interest – This research will assist service providers to know importance of staff
development for customer satisfaction and how it play major role in growth of business.
Background of research
Hospitality industry is wide and most competitive sector within business environment. As
competition is increasing it is essential to serve customers in effective manner which can be
possible by proper staff development (Burns, 2016). Thus, it is necessary for organisation to
provide proper training and development session so there skills get develop as well as employees
will able to serve customers in better manner. This result in growth and development of company
as well as also assist in gaining competitive advantages. In simple term, it can be said that
development of staff member have direct impact on organisation growth and also result in
gaining success. The main reason for a hotel to sustain in market is it's level of customer
satisfaction. When hotel is offering outstanding facilities to people, they will appreciate hotel and
others will get attracted to visit this hotel. As a result, sales of hotel will be increased. In this
case, customers or people are satisfied with brand and products. It is essential for organisation to
have loyal customers which spread positive word of mouth about hotel facilities (Coad and et.al.,
2014). Billesley Manor Hotel which is having the best inspiring location along with the ranking
of the 4 star hotel.

Work break down structure
Work breakdown structure is basically an output oriented breakdown of a project into
smaller sections (Cullen and et. al., 2014). It organize team work into manageable parts. It is a
hierarchical division of total work of the organization which is to be carried out by project team
to attain project goals and required project outputs. A work breakdown structure may be a
service, product or data or can be a combination of them. It starts with project as top level
deliverable and further divided into sub deliverables using hierarchy method. Therefore, WBS
has brings so many benefits and profits such as breakdown of a project is used to identify risk
factors of the project.

Gantt Chart
A Gantt chart is a graphical tool use in project management. It shows tasks and events of
the project in the form of graph which is plotted against time. It makes easy to understand project
by breaking down activities into smaller sections and displaying them on chart. It is basically use
to trace project set up (Eccles, Ioannou and Serafeim, 2012). On the chart, the tasks and events
are represented on 'X' axis while time is represented on 'Y' axis. Each tasks are represented as
bars which determine the time required to complete a task. Therefore, Gantt chart is very useful
tool for scheduling and managing a project effectively.
