INTRODUCTION
Project management is the planning of guiding a team's work at a given period to
accomplish objectives and fulfil the success criteria. The project manager's main aim is to maintain
all the project goals inside the defined circumstances. Typically, this detail is defined in the project
report which was generated at the beginning of the construction process (Andersen, 2016). This
assessment based on the case study of Royale Pizza was founded in 2007 and offer a variety of
foods and other related services. This assessment covers the renovation project of Royale Pizza to
expand its customers reach as well as profitability. This report covers several topics such as
implementation plan which cover all the necessary information, monitoring, execution and closer
phase of project management to get the success in this project.
MAIN BODY
1. Implementation plan
Royale Pizza was founded in 2007 by a businessman with over 20 years of experience
throughout the foodservice sector. Royale Pizza is associated with high quality and traditional taste
of Italian pizzas, and now they deliver 40 types of a foodie and famous pizza. The shop is situated
on one of Melbourne CBD’s busiest roads, near the Southern Cross Station. The main renovation
project involves the work related to flooring, air conditioning construction, dust-free lighting,
improved compressor capacity and skilled kitchen exhaust cleaning. Machinery will include buying
3 fryers, 2 heating systems, 1 dough roller, point - of - sale machine with proper software and
hardware to power it.
Management structure: In order to the successful implementation of the project plan, the
organization should have a matrix organizational structure. A project manager should have enough
power to maintain the project and direct their team members about the task which required
completing on time. The staff members report into two supervisors in a matrix organisation and one
is a functional manager and another is the project manager. Information occurs from the two
managers to the team leaders (Daniel and Daniel, 2018). The matrix organization is generated to
achieve the maximum value from the organizational culture of both functional and predicted form.
Departmental work is performed by staff members, and they also perform a project task. Project
manager of Royale Pizza should follow this matrix management structure and hold the entire power
under their hand and build a separate team for it, who works under this renovation project. It will
help them to control the entire activities and at the end, the project manager is separately
accountable for it.
Levels of authorities

From the case study, it is evident that the level of autonomy is prevalent. It is solely the decision of
the entrepreneurs and the other up-level management staff to take up decisions regarding the
renovation of the shop. The shop had been operated and managed by the owners all these years and
they focused strongly on the aspects of gaining profit by delivering quality pizzas that are
affordable and tasty. Recently, the shop owners decided to renovate the shop in order to diversify
the business and focus on zero-waste business. Thus, it is the upper management as the decision-
maker and the decisions are based on the reports provided by the other departments.
Level of authorities-
Top- The top-level authority exists at the highest level in an organization. It is required
because it leads to control of activities. It is present in Royale Pizza where it is controlled by higher
managers.
Middle- The middle-level authority is present in the middle level in a company. It acts as a
bridge between top and lower-level management. It is present in Royale Pizza and helps in getting
instructions from top and implementing it in the lower-level management.
Supervisory- The supervisory-level authority is present in the lower level in an
organization. It is present in Royale Pizza and helps in getting the work done from the subordinates.
Style and culture: In this element, the project manager should follow the best management
style to motivate their employees or team members to achieve project requirements. It is suggested
that the democratic leadership style is most appropriate but when managers want to complete any
task before deadline along with the quality, that time autocratic leadership style is most favourable
to adopt. Authoritative leaders encourage a dynamic sense of creativity and passion for the project.
Experts also claimed that "the ultimate leader is a revolutionary who inspires people by telling them
how the work blends into this dream," which will be true for every project.
Autocratic leadership style- Autocratic leadership style is a style in which the managers
ascertain their autocracy in the organization by taking decisions by themselves.
Strength- This style leads to faster decision-making within an organization and therefore
can help in taking the correct decision.
Weakness- This leads to autocracy and the subordinates may feel that they are not given
due importance in the organization.
There are various types of factors which are focused on while implementing a project plan.
All of them could be understood with the help of the following discussion:

Clearly Defined goals: It is mainly focused on the mission of the project and well-
structured purpose of the tasks that will be performed to complete the project.
Competent Project Manager: An individual with effective technical, administrative and
interpersonal skills known as the competent project manager who is very important for a
project.
Top Management Support: All the internal, as well as external stakeholders, are required
to be supported by the management which is responsible to control the project and other
individuals working on it (Ekrot, Kock and Gemünden, 2016).

changes and needs.

manager to take proper measured of the plan and analyse that all the activities are running

Feedback capabilities: The stakeholders who are involved in the project should provide
feedback on the project and provide suggestions for corrections in the plan. It could be done
through formal meetings or information interaction.
Responsiveness to clients: It is very important for the project managers to interact with the
clients after completion of the project for any type of assistance which could be required by
them (Henjewele, 2019).
Risk Management: It is essential for the managers to make sure that they analyse and try to
mitigate all the risks which may affect the success of the project.

When the plan is formulated and implemented successfully it is very important for the
management to make sure that they check the plan strictly and carefully to analyse the issues in it.
Afterwards effective steps to control them are required to be followed. Monitoring and controlling
are two main tasks which are required to be performed by managers to meet the commitment and
deadlines. There are several steps which are required to be followed while working on monitoring
and controlling of the renovation project of Royale Pizza All of them are as follows:
Assessment of the efficiency of the project in accomplishing the project objectives and
plans: It is very important for the project manager to make sure that effective actions for the
management of the project are taken for this purpose, time, cost, resources, quality and
stakeholders are required to be analysed (Kerzner, 2017). The time required for the project
is 4 months, cost is 40000 dollars, quality is high and the stakeholders are customers,
employee and the owner of Royale Pizza. By paying attention towards all of them it could
be determined that project’s objectives will be accomplished or not.
Improvement on the internal learning and decision-making capabilities pertaining to
renovation plan implementation: At this stage the managers will be required to identify
the areas where improvement is required. For example, if the arrangements of new furniture
are not made properly then the manager will be required to make changes in the decision
which may pertain the renovation plan implementation.
Ensuring the individual accountability to the stakeholders and the team members
responsible for the renovation procedure: At this stage, the managers make sure that all

the individuals and stakeholders who are working on the project of renovation are

Tools and techniques required for the controlling process: When the managers of the
renovation project will be working on it, they will be required to take effective actions to control all
the activities. While monitoring the project the main focus is required to be paid towards the
workflow. It can help to make sure that all the activities are performed systematically. The key
stakeholders in the context of the renovation project will be suppliers, contractors, installers,

3. Project performance evaluation
While working on a project it is very important for all the project managers to make sure
that effective evaluation of performance is done. The main focus in the renovation project of
Royale Pizza should be implementation of equipment and construction. It is very important for the
managers and other stakeholders working on the project to analyse the performance of the project

as it is significant for attaining success. The main element which will be focused on is delivering
good quality food to the clients so that sales could be increased by 25%. In the Spencer Street area
Royale Pizza is the only pizza shop so it does not have to deal with any type of competitors which
can help it to attract a large number of customers. There are various elements which are required to
be followed measure the performance. All of them are as follows:
Direct impact upon clients: It is one of the major elements which can help to analyse and
measure the success. The main objective of going under the renovation of Royale Pizza is to
retain existing clients and attract new customers. It has been estimated that when renovation
will be completed then it will result in increment in the number of clients by 20% per day.
Return on investment: The owners of Royale Pizza are willing to increase the sales by

4. Project closure
When the duration of 4 months will be completed then the project will head towards the
closure stage. There are several steps which will be followed at this stage:
Complete the paperwork: At this stage, all the project related paperwork is completed
so that the contract could be closed (Turner, 2016). Here, all the outstanding payments are
cleared.
Conducting post-completion audit: It is one of the major steps which are required to be
taken as it helps to take a look back at all the milestones to measure success (Verzuh, 2015).
Releasing the resources: When the project is completed then the managers must make
sure that they have released all the resources. All the external stakeholders must sign off at this
stage (Sunder, 2016).
Archiving the project testimonials: It is the last stage of the closure of the renovation
project. Here, the details for the important components of the current project are required to be
archived as it can help to retrieve the requirements (Fewings & Henjewele, 2019).
As a Project Manager, there is a lot which can be learnt by the project stage. It can be
seen what went wrong and how it can be addressed (Kerzner, 2018). Also the necessary steps
which can be taken should be analyzed closely. This will help in taking the right decision in the
