Management skills
In order to perform particular roles in an organisation, management skills may be described as
certain qualities or abilities that an employee should possess. They provide the opportunity to
perform executive functions in an organisation while preventing circumstances of crisis and
addressing challenges promptly as they arise. By studying and realistic experience as a manager,
management skills can be established. The skills encourage the boss to communicate with his
fellow staff and learn how to work well with their subordinates, which helps the organization's
operations to flow smoothly. For any company to prosper and accomplish its goals and priorities,
strong management skills are essential. With less challenges and objections from internal and
external outlets, a boss who encourages strong organisational skills is willing to propel the
company's goal and strategy or strategic priorities forward. Management and management
capabilities are also used interchangeably, since these include planning, decision-making and
problem-solving.
As the manager of British Airways, it is important for me to decide the need of people
management effectively. This provides help in managing the work effectively and attaining
goals. There is need to have proper information about strategic goals that they are achieved
properly.
Types of management skills
The three basic types of management skills, according to the American social and behavioural
psychologist Robert Katz, include:
Professional Skills - Technical skills provide skills that give executives the opportunity and
experience to use a range of approaches to accomplish their goals. In addition to running
machines and software, manufacturing machinery and equipment, these capabilities provide the
skills required to improve sales, design various types of goods and services, and sell services and
products.
Conceptual Skills - In terms of awareness and capacity for abstract reasoning and formulating
concepts, all include the skills managers present. The planner is able to consider a whole idea,
evaluate a situation and diagnose it and discover innovative solutions. This helps the manager to
accurately foresee challenges that could be encountered by their organisation or the company as
a whole.

Human or Interpersonal Skills - Human or interpersonal skills are skills that demonstrate the
capacity of administrators to communicate, function or deal efficiently with individuals. These
skills enable managers to make use of the company's human potential and inspire workers to
deliver greater performance.
Management Skills Highlights
There are a wide variety of abilities that managers should provide in order to successfully and
efficiently operate an organisation. The below are six main management qualities that any boss
should have in order to serve their duties.
Planning - Within an organisation, planning is a critical element. It refers to the capacity of one
to coordinate activities in compliance with defined criteria while staying within the constraints of
the resources available, such as time, money, and labour. It is often the method of formulating
with the available resources a series of actions or one or more tactics to accomplish and attain
those aims or targets.
The planning process entails the identification and establishment of realistic targets, the
implementation of necessary plans, and the description of tasks and timetables for how to
accomplish the objectives set. Nothing can be done without a good strategy.
Communication - It is essential for a boss to possess excellent communication ability. It will
decide how well data is exchanged within a team, meaning that the organisation operates as a
single workforce. How well a boss works with the rest of his/her staff often defines how well
defined processes will be performed, how well projects and events will be achieved, and how
effective an organisation can be. Communication entails the flow of information, whether formal
or informal, verbal or written, vertical or horizontal, within the organisation and promotes the
organization's smooth functioning. In an organisation, clearly defined contact networks allow the
manager to communicate with the staff, minimise disputes and overcome conflicts.
Decision-making - Decision-making is another important asset in management. Managers make
multiple choices, whether consciously or not and making choices is a core component of the
performance of a boss. Making correct and correct decisions results in the organization's success,
while poor or bad choices will lead to disappointment or poor efficiency.
Clear and correct decisions should be taken for the company to operate successfully and
smoothly. For any decision they make, a manager must be cautious and also able to take
responsibility for the consequences of their decisions. A successful manager needs to have

outstanding decision-making capabilities, as his or her performance in meeting corporate goals is
always determined.
Delegation - Another key ability in management is delegation. Delegation is the process of
transmission to other workers or subordinates of work-related activities and/or authorities. Based
on actual workloads, it includes the process of allowing your duties or those of your workers to
be reassigned or reallocated to other employees. A boss with solid delegation skills is able to
reassign roles quickly and easily and grant the right staff power. It helps to promote effective
work execution as delegation is carried out properly.
Motivating - Another major skill in an organisation is the capacity to inspire. Motivation makes
the workers or others partners generate a desired action or reaction. Managers can use various
motivating strategies, and choosing the best ones can rely on features such as business and
company culture, team attitudes, and more. There are two major kinds of inspiration that can be
used by a boss. These motives are inherent and extrinsic.
Bottom Line - Management skills are a group of skills that include topics like business strategy,
decision-making, problem-solving, teamwork, collaboration, and time management. Although
numerous positions and organisations require the use of multiple skill sets, leadership abilities
make a professional stand out and succeed regardless of their degree. These abilities are
necessary for top management to run a company well and meet desired business results. The
delegation lets the boss prevent waste of time, optimises efficiency, and ensures employee
transparency and accountability. In order to achieve maximum performance and achieve the
necessary efficiency results, each manager must have strong delegation capabilities. '
Another important capability is problem-solving. A good management must be able to resolve
and fix the regular challenges that will occur on a normal working day. In management,
problem-solving means defining a particular question or situation and then finding the right way
to deal with the issue and get the best answer. Even where the dominant circumstances are not
right, it is the opportunity to work things out. If it is obvious that a manager has outstanding
problem-solving ability, it separates him/her from the rest of the staff and gives faith in his/her
management abilities to subordinates.
