TITLE
“How do multinational companies improve the recruitment, selection and training of their
employees to meet International requirements? A study on Nestlé.
INTRODUCTION
Managing business in a proper manner is an important aspect for an organisation to attain
high success and growth. If business project will not be handled in a proper manner, company
can face heavy revenue loss. Recruitment, training and selection are effective procedures that are
used by a business firm to hire skilled, knowledgeable and talented employees so that desired
objectives can be achieved in a timely manner (Armstrong, Landers and Collmus, 2016). This
report is written in context with Nestle which is a multinational organisation headquartered in
Vevey, Switzerland. This report will cover about aims and objectives, project plan, WBS, Gantt
chart. Beside this, research methodology and data collection methods are mentioned to carry out
research in a proper manner.
TASK 1
P1 Project aim and objectives
Overview of the report:
Major purpose behind this report is to evaluate the effectiveness of recruitment, selection
and training of workforce so that international requirements can be met in a proper manner.
Nestle is going to expand their operations at global context due to which it is important for them
to improve their procedures of selection, training and recruitment. This will benefits them in
enhancing the skills and capabilities of their workforce due to which they will be able to perform
work in a systematic manner. This will benefits Nestle in achieving expected outcomes and
results in a timely manner.
Aim:
“To acknowledge the importance of recruiting, selection and training procedures for
employees to meet international requirements”. A study on Nestlé.
Objectives:
To identify the concept of globalisation, recruitment, selection and training.
To analyse the importance of recruitment, selection and training procedures for Nestle.

LITERATURE REVIEW
Concept of globalisation, recruitment, selection and training
According to Bird, 2019, Globalisation is referred to the spread of technology,
information, product and jobs beyond national culture and domestic borders. In context with
economics, it define interdependence of countries in global context due to free trade.
Recruitment, selection and training are very important for any organisation as it helps them to
appoint those candidates who are perfect for the position. Recruitment is that process which is
conducting for hiring the best candidate for filling up the vacant position in the organisation. The
selection is come after recruitment, which is the process of choosing the best and most qualified
candidate with great capabilities to fill the jobs in the organisation. Moreover, the training is
providing to improve the skills, standards, attitude and behaviour of the employees to perform
effectively. This enable employees to perform their duties in an effective way and attain goals
and objectives of company. Along with that, training helps in improving performance and
productivity of organisation and meeting international requirements.
Importance of recruitment, selection and training procedures for Nestle
Recruitment and selection process is an important part of any organisation as it has a
great impact on the all over performance of the organisation. As per the opinion of Shrezay, Z.,
2015, a good recruitment and selection procedure can reduce the time in searching, taking
interview, hiring and training of workforce. Effective processes of recruitment will results in
streamlining procedures so that suitable candidate can be found easily. On the other hand,
training is essential for the employees as it improves employees performance, improve employee
retention and growth, enhance their skills and many others. With the help of appropriate
recruitment, training and selection process, Nestle will be able to hire only capable employees
which can be trained effectively so that they can perform well in complex situations. This will

allow the company to gain wide success in international market. For achieving success in
market, nestle is required to have effective employees training programs which benefits in
strengthening the skills and knowledge of the employees. Due to this, working proficiency of
employees will increase which will help nestle to increase their productivity and profitability and
meeting international requirements.
Effectiveness of training process in fulfilling international requirements
Training process is very helpful for the organisation to meetup the international
requirements. Training programs gives a great opportunity to their employees to enhance their
knowledge, efficiency, and productivity. By enhancing the skills and capabilities of their
employees through training, company will be able to perform its business operations in an
organised and timely manner. This will allow the company to earn high revenues so that they can
gain competitive advantage against rival by earning high profits.
According to Chand, S., 2019, there are three models to train workforce of a company.
These are system model, transitional model and instrumental system development model. Nestle
can implement system model so that improvement in working potential of workers can be
achieved in a proper manner. This model includes five different phases. These phases must be
repeated by Nestle on regular basis so that improvements can be carried out as per requirements
of market and customers. Different steps associated with this system model of training are
mentioned below:
Analysis and identification: Here, the training needs are identified like employer and
employee requirements, what must be leaned by employees, changing needs of customers
etc. on this basis a performance measure is developed so that actual performance can be
evaluated in a proper manner.
Designing: To achieve the purpose of training, in this phase manager of Nestle identified
the objectives of training, learning steps and structuring of content so that employees can
be trained as per national and international demands.
Developing: In this phase, activities of training programs will be listed so that expected
goals can be accomplished in a timely manner.
Implementation: This is the most complex phase of this system as one wrong step can
results in failing of entire training program. In this step, all above mentioned processes
are implemented in a proper manner.

Evaluation: This is the last phase in which aims and purpose behind the training are
accomplished so that work performance can be improved in a proper manner. By
providing training to employees, Nestle will be able to meet international standards in a
proper manner.
P2 Project management plan with cost aspects, scope, time, quality and communication risk
Project management plan is defined as an approved and formal document which specifies
the way in which a specific project can be controlled, monitored and executed in a proper
manner. It is referred to a detailed document or summary which include baselines, planning
documents and subsidiary management plan. Aspects related with project management plan are
discussed below:
Cost : The cost can be anything which is measurable in terms of money . It is the amount
that has to be paid or given up in order to buy something. Cost is usually a monetary valuation of
efforts material, resources,time and utilities, risk incurred and opportunities forgone while
producing a goods or services. Therefore my cost needs to be at least 130 pounds so that
recruitment, training and selection of employees can be carried out in a proper manner and skills
of workforce can be improved properly. There are different activities where company require to
invest accurate amount of capital such as selection of aims and objectives, development of
research methods, collection of data etc. In this respective project, the researcher took 130 pound
to complete this specific research on given period of time (Polonsky and Waller, 2018).
Scope: It is defined as the possibility to attain objectives in future timeline. Scope of this
project from company's side is broad as improvement in training, recruiting and selecting
employees will enhance the productivity of company in both national and international market.
In context with researcher, scope of this research is broad as this research will benefit in gaining
wide knowledge which will assists in performing future research. This research will be very
beneficial for researcher to have a detail knowledge about the particular topic (Basak and
Khanna, 2017).
Time: This aspect is defined as total time period which is needed to accomplish a
research or project in a systematic manner. Any of the research requires specific time period so
that accurate data and facts can be found whenever it is required. In context of this undertaken
investigation, required time for investigating recruitment, training and selection in context of
the organisation is 7 weeks. In this particular research, the researcher will take approx 2 months

to complete all required information and collecting opinions of respondents. In addition,
researcher took 1 month more to frame the research in appropriate manner.
Quality: It is defined as the effectiveness after completion of an activity or project.
Whenever conducting research, it is important for researcher to use methods like observations,
interviews, questionnaire etc. so that high quality of work can be ensured Also, researcher use
primary method of data collection which will help to conduct quality program in appropriate
way.
Communication: It is referred to the manner by which members working in a project
interact and communicate with one another to share details properly. Researcher use various
communication tools that helps them to collect different relevant data and information about the
research. In this researcher can take the help of telephones, emails, social media to
communication as it is one of the best platform to get relevant information (Nicholas and Steyn,
2017).
Risk: These are referred to the uncertainties that can reduce or hinder the effectiveness of
a specific project. The risk in context of this investigation relates to different rules and regulation
which are difficult to abide along with lack of communication, cultural difference, varying rules
and laws of government etc. Various risks that might be faced by researcher while carrying out
research are lack of fund, time and proper training and many more.
Resources: These are the important elements which are needed by an organisation to
perform activities related with research. In context with Nestle, potential resources are Capital,
skilled workforce, appropriate technology etc. From researcher's perspective, effective resources
are internet, money, books, magazines which benefits in collecting required information.
P3 Work breakdown structure and a Gantt chart
Work breakdown structure: It is a chart in which project elements known as tasks are
mentioned in a systematic manner. WBS is referred to the breakdown of a project into small
components so that employee can manage each section in an organised manner. This will
benefits the project manager in Nestle to allocate resources, budget and managing quality in a
proper way.

Gantt chart: It is a bar chart that defines a project schedule in a systematic manner.
Tasks which have to be performed are shown on vertical axis whereas time interval is shown on
horizontal axis. This chart will allow the member of project team in performing activities in
accordance with their priority and time (Boyle, 2017).
