P 4 Research Methodology
The research method is organized programs for doing study. There are bother qualitative
and quantitative research techniques involving survey, participants observation and secondary
information (Kumar, 2019). In this context, there are many methods, approaches design, data
collection for gathering the information and accomplishing aims and objectives of study.
Research Type:
The types of research methodologies can be categorized into many classes on the basis of
the nature and purpose of the research. There are two types of research methodologies such as

qualitative and quantitative research (Silverman, ed., 2016). In this study, research can be
utilized the qualitative research which is based on non-numerical information. This can aid to
achieve the aim of evaluate the impact of actions of McDonald on operation of local restaurant in
the Barking.
Research Design:
A research design is the set of techniques and processes utilized in gathering and
evaluating assess of variables particular in the problem study. The research design determines
type of study like research problem, hypotheses and experimental design. There are different
types of research design like descriptive, correlation, experimental and so on (Flick, 2015). In
this study, researcher can use the descriptive research design which is based on observation,
surveys and case study. This research design is used because there is need to carry out extensive
research from basic level. For such kind of situation descriptive research design is best choice.
Research Approach:
A research approach is the program and process which consists of stages of wider
assumptions to detailed technique of gathering, analysing and interpreting the information to
complete the research. There are three kinds of research approaches such as deductive, inductive
and abductive approaches (Ledford and Gast, 2018). Researchers can utilize inductive research
approaches which is based on themes, patterns and make conceptual model. Inductive research
approach is used because here qualitative analysis will be done. This approach is used when on
basis of analysis we are going to form specific approach.
Research Philosophies:
The research philosophy is wider topic which deals with sources, nature and growth of
knowledge. It is the value the modes in which information about process can be gathered,
evaluated and utilized of information. There are four research philosophies such as pragmatism,
positivism, realism and interpretivism (Alvesson and Sköldberg, 2017). Investigator can use
interpretivism research philosophy which is based on small samples deeply and investigations.
This can aid to achieve the aim of evaluate the impact of actions of McDonald on operation of
local restaurant in the Barking. Interpretivism philosophy is used because current research study
is qualitative in nature.
