INTRODUCTION
Human Resource Management play a significant role in fulfilling the workforce and
managing their performance level so as to gain maximum efforts in achievement of
organisational goals and objectives. Employees are a incredible asset of every organisation
irrespective of the sector whether engaged in retail, manufacturing or service sector whose
contribution the growth and success of company depends. Therefore, it is more important for HR
department to perform its several functions such as recruitment and selection, performance
appraisal, training and development programs etc. The present assignment report is based on the
case study of St-Margaret's nursing home which is engaged in heath and social care located in
London. It tries to develop its staff through adopting HR practices at workplace such as
recruitment and selection training sessions, leadership theories, performance evaluation plan etc.
TASK 1
1.1: Factors related to the recruitment planning in HSC
Health and social care sector is a provision of health and social work activities performed
by trained medical professionals in order to maintain health of an individual and society as a
whole. To provide better health and social care services, St-Margaret's nursing home requires to
have socialised skills and knowledgable staff which is possible by getting support from HR
department in form of conducting recruitment programs and selection in an effective way.
Recruitment is conducted on the basis of information related with future needs and wants
of organisation which is collected through making reliable research (Baggett and et. al., 2010).
There are many aspects which need to be considered while conducting recruitment process some
of which are listed as under:
ï‚· Firstly, St-Margaret's need to decide which type of staff they required to recruit in their
health and social care homes.
ï‚· Secondly, it required to select an effective systems in order to evaluate the performance
level of employees at workplace.
Such two factors largely affected the staff keeping and to get attraction. St-Margaret's
nursing some recruit staff with an expectation of gaining specialised skills and knowledgeable
employees so that they are much capable to meet the needs and wants of patients through serving
them better health care services. Their main is to maximise the satisfaction level of patients

etc.
Equal Pay act, 1970: It states that the employees attaining equivalent position should
not be discriminated in terms of getting company's benefits and pays (Chan, 2010).
Data protection Act, 1998: It states that the confidential information about the employees
should be well secured and must not have public access in order to ensure protection of right to
privacy.
Freedom of Information Act, 2000: It stats the the recruiters must disclosed all
informations associated with the offered job position to the individuals such as working hours,
type of contract, job nature etc.
Furthermore, in relation to government policies, various health and social care firms has
implemented the various procedures build on their own while recruitment process. It assist HR
manager to recruit individuals without giving priority or biased for anyone. For example, Social
care councils has made their own code and conduct of practices in order to eliminate the cases of
discriminations among the social workers.
Code of practices are framework which must required to be followed by HR manager in
recruiting and selection programs in which the roles and activities that need to be performed by
HR are disclosed so as to recruit desired candidates that will bring profitable outcome to

2.1: Theories of group interaction of individual in HSC
Tuckman has introduced four models in order to explain interaction of team members and
their changes in behaviour and performance level according with time. Therefore, St-Margaret's
nursing home must required to adopt such model in following way to develop interaction among
staff at workplace:
Forming: It is the first stage in which the firm make procedure for group structure. It
explains the procedure that how an individual start to interact and understand each other (Erdley,
Anklam and Reardon, 2014).
Storming: At this stage, members tried to give efforts in communicating with co-workers
and gain trust and good relationship with them. It is the stage of understanding between the
workers and support them in in executing each others work with trust and friendly behaviour.
Norming: In this stage, members of St-Margaret's nursing home tries to identify the
values, norms and beliefs so that they can work as a group and provide maximum efforts in
achievement of goals and objectives.
Performing: In this stage, the the contribution of each members involved in a team are

taken, if needed so as to get maximum contribution from them for achievement of organizational

uncertain due to which the roles and responsibilities of each member could not be identified.
Under this, leaders took all decisions without considering the opinions and suggestions from the
team mates which brings dissatisfaction among team mates. Therefore, HR of St-Margaret's
nursing home should prevent to form such team which gives opposite result to company
(Huxham and Vangen, 2013).
Experimental team: In this kind of team, the leaders consider all issues faced its team
mates by listening them carefully which maximizes the satisfaction level of team members and
gain maximum contribution from them towards group goals.
Mature team: In this kind of team, the emotions of team mates are shared with leaders
and willing to do methodical working methods according to the roles and responsibilities
assigned to them.
Consolidating team: In this, personal interaction are established on co-operative basis
and the activities allotted to team mates are clearly defined towards its team mates. The team
goals are mutually agreed by team mates and accordingly bring new ideas to implement an
effective tentative procedures to perform well.
Among four teams, St-Margaret's nursing home should form consolidating team in order
to bring an effective interaction among team mates through motivating them for mutual support
and cooperation while performing allotted task in more effective and efficient manner.
