INTRODUCTIONHuman resources are an important asset of the firm so it is the responsibility of theorganization to manage all the people. This is related to the relationship between employee andemployer that it should be enhanced in order to improve overall performance of the company.HR is the core functional unit of the firm that focuses on the motivation level of the staffmembers (Morley, Heraty and Michailova, 2016). The manager also provide training anddevelopment to their workers so that they will be able to offer quality services to their customers.Through this people will be able to enhance their core competencies that help them in improvingtheir career. The present report is based on St-Margaret's Nursing Home which perform itsoperations in health and social care. They are focusing on their human resource management sothat quality services can be given to customers. The below mentioned report is based on therecruitment and selection of employees within the organization. Along with this, how legislativelaws can affect the performance of the firm in the country. Further, it explains that how trainingand development programs can improve the performance of the employees. It also focuses on theleadership styles that are used by the manager in order to improve the relations among all theemployees (Soltani, 2010). TASK 11.1St-Margaret's Nursing Home focuses on the recruitment and selection process so thatthey will be able to get the experienced and qualified employees. Through this they will be ableto accomplish their goals and objectives. There are some factors that play an important role inthe recruitment process. Some of these factors are recruitment objectives, core objectives oforganization, organization personnel policies, government policies, cost of recruitment, Financialimplications (Sanyal and Sett, 2011). The manager of St-Margaret's Nursing Home focuses onthe recruitment process so that they will be able to provide quality services to their customers.Through this process they will be able to improve their overall performance. Job profile shouldbe defined so that skilled employees can be hired and needs can be fulfilled of the health andsocial care. Along with this, they have to hire the staff members that can help the firm inattaining all their objectives and through this they will be able to get the success in the market.

The health and social care organization can recruit the employees from inside and outsidethe organization. If they perform internal recruitment then through this they will be able toincrease the motivation level of their existing employees. They don't have to bear some extra costin this type of method and overall objectives can also be accomplished. On the other hand, ifthey perform external recruitment then they have to use some activities like they can place a jobadvertisement on the social sites, brochures and so on. Through this approach, new ideas can beintroduced in the firm and quality services can be given to all the customers. Some cost isattached with this type of approach but through this they will be able to get skilled workers.Furthermore, the organization have to follow the legislative laws that are made by thegovernment (Armstrong and Taylor, 2014). These rules and regulations play an important rolewhen the manager hire any employees. Companies can also sustain its competitive advantage inthe market as compare to other market players and their brand image is also get improved. 1.2There are different types of legislative laws and policy framework of all countries acrossthe world that can influence the selection, recruitment and employment of people. The managerof St-Margaret's Nursing Home has to follow all rules and regulations when they are going tofollow these recruitment process. The state government of UK made several laws in order toimprove the conditions of employees and these acts are employment rights act, equality act, sexdiscrimination act and so on (Batt and Colvin, 2011). These rules and regulations are designed sothat no discrimination would take place on the basis of gender, religion, beliefs, color and so on. Equality act: This act is made by the government so that everyone will be liable to getequal pay as per their work. Through this they will be able to retain more employees within theorganization and motivation level is also get improved of all workers. Sex discrimination act: This type of act protect the employees from any type ofdiscrimination (What Is Human Resource Management?. 2017). This can be take place withinthe organization that can be related to the promotion, training and so on. Employment act: This law protect all the rights of an employees in the organization.Through this, the manager can provide a healthy and safety environment to their workers so thata peaceful environment can be created (Guest, 2011). The aim of health and social care organization should be related to their objectives so thattheir overall performance can be improved. For this, they have to hire employees on the basis of

their knowledge, skills, experience and qualification. Along with these laws, every organizationhave their own set of policies that can help them in reducing the turnover. These rules andregulations describe their culture that they follow in the industry. Along with this, these laws alsoavoid the unfairness and provide a peaceful environment to the people who are working in thefirm. Furthermore, they will be able to get the success in the market in an efficient manner sothat their brand image is also get improved at global level (Decker, Riley and Siemer, 2012). 1.3The HR manager of St-Margaret's Nursing Home may use many different approaches sothat they will be able to select the best individuals. Some of these methods are:Interview: This is the most appropriate method that is used by St-Margaret's NursingHome in order to hire the employees. These can be of two types one is face to face and anotherone is telephonic interview. Face to face interview is most beneficial than telephonic because inthis they will be able to know about the behavior and expression of interviewee. The interviewerwill be able to take their decisions without any confusion and these kinds of interviews can betaken by the panel or an individual (Cowling, 2013). Through this, the HR manager will be ableto hire the skilled and experienced workers. Assessment center: This is an another approach that is used by the health and social careorganizations. These centers take interviews and test of the individual and group exercises can beperformed. On the basis of these, best candidate can be hired by St-Margaret's Nursing Home.There are different methods that can be used by the firm such as psychometric test, IQ test,hypothetical questioning test and so on ((Moideenkutty, Al-Lamki and Sree Rama Murthy,2011)). The organization can use these approaches when they have many people for the samejob. Audition: This is an another method that is used by the organization through this theywill be able to get the right kind of employee for the right job. The health and social centers canuse the concept of digitization in that videos and audios can be recorded. St-Margaret's Nursing Home can use interview and assessment center approach in orderto get the skilled and experienced person (Daley, 2012). Through these, they will be able toaccomplish their overall objectives and care can be given to the customers. If quality staff ishired in the firm then quality services can be offered to the people.

TASK 2 2.1The manager of St-Margaret's Nursing Home should know about the group developmentthat how groups can be developed in the firm. He has to follow some theories so that relationshipamong all the team members can be enhanced. It is important to communicate with each other ina group than only overall performance can be improved (Agrawal, Khatri and Srinivasan, 2012).On the basis of the theory of Tuckman's group interaction can be divided among some stages andthese are:Forming: This is the first stage of group development in which different individualscome together and make a group. In this, groups are totally depends upon their leaders who willdirect them that how to perform (Five Stage Model of Group Development. 2017). All people getto know about each other at this stage. Storming: This is the second stage in the group development where competition is highand everyone will be able to know about their work that what they have to perform. At this stageconflicts can be arise between all the members of the group (Renwick, Redman and Maguire,2013). People work on the basis of their own styles and due to this the group will not be able toperform well. Norming: Here at this stage, group is moving towards the norming stage where all themembers perform according to the group so that overall goals can be achieved. All conflicts andissues get resolved in this stage (Budhwar and Varma, 2010). Along with this, members placetheir ideas in front of other members and through this performance of a group can be improved. Performing: This is the more productive stage where all people perform well for theirgroup. Here, everyone will be able to know about each other very well and trust can also beestablished among the group members. Along with this, a sense of belongingness is getestablished and they all are focused on their goals. Adjourning: This is the last stage of the group development where they completed theirtask and all group members are moving in different directions after achieving the goals (Markovaand Ford, 2011). Opportunities is given to all members that they can share their views on thisgroup performance.
