Introduction
The unit helps to understand the advantages of project management tools and techniques. A case

study of
Jointing Tech will be prepared, for implement plans and managing project. In addition,
necessary steps will be followed for executing the plan in the project. Jointing Tech is a leading

distributor of power cables and accessories developing power cable accessories of Cleat

terminate and join MV and LV cables. It maintains electrical infrastructure of UK and recently

Jointing Tech have target to develop a project for Trace heating division. This project will also

identify the strength and weakness and will develop a plan to improve the performance in the

project. As a project development manager, implementing project plan and communicating the

project plans with colleagues and stakeholders are necessary to conduct during plan

development.

1. Project management tools and techniques.
A project is series of sequenced plan, which are interrelated and managed by any

organisational manager for achieving specifying goals within limited time and monetary

resource. A methodology used to provide minimal framework to assist the manager of the

project. Therefore, the manager can make work in easy and effective way. They are using

various tool or techniques to facilitate efficient work management. The tool of the project

managements helps to display a roadmap, for easy communication, between team members

and the management body. The tools of the project development help to develop and increase

efficiency of product development management. The following tools will be used for this

project:-

Project Libre/Ms Project- It is project management software consists of Java
programming language. Jointing Tech will use this software for procuring an

estimate of labor cost, time and amount of material usage. It has a ribbon style menu,

which helps to construct the project plan. Project libre and Microsoft project have

similar interface and usage. This software will help to estimate costing features like

labor, work time, usage of material and others.

WBS- The work breakdown structure or WBS is used to deliver the plans of project
in to smaller and detailed components.WBS helps to schedule the estimated cost and

provide guidelines for project development. Jointing Tech is an electricity application

distribution, therefore it have different plans to execute. Therefore, work breakdown

structure will help to the firm to divide the activities into smaller components for

efficient outcome.

Gantt Chart- Gantt Chart also helps to schedule the project, but it provides data in
form of bar chart. Through Gantt chart, a firm can estimate the start and end day of

the planned project. It also illustrates the relationship between involved activities of

plan. Jointing Tech has developed a project of trace heating service and equipment

provider. Therefore, Gantt chart will help to estimate the start date of installing

equipment of trace heating. It will also show the relationship of service provided

estimate the statically outcome from performed series of activities before executing
the plan practically.

Critical Path- the Critical path is a tool used for analyzing the mathematical relation
between program evaluation and review techniques. It helps to calculate the longest

plan activity with required logistic, and discriminate between ‘critical’ and ‘float’

activities. It will help Jointing Tech to estimate the time of complementing the

project. The organization will use the program if required, as the tool is used when

any firm falls in a critical or in any complex situation. It helps to show actual slack

time distinguishing between real time of the activity and available time for the

activity. In long run, if Jointing Tech faces any complication during performing

activity, then Critical path will be best tool for implementation.

The project manager for effective outcome will execute Gantt chart, Work Breakdown structure,

network diagram, critical path. These components are required for conducting overall project in

disciplinary manner. The systematic structure of work breakdown will provide support to

conduct overall project within committed deadline. Jointing Technology will apply the above

mentioned project development tools for providing electricity sector service to core

customer .The main motto of the organization is to provide best technical advice to each

2. A Plan for implementation of project:

In order to present the overall project plan and for the Jointing Technology can be explained by

the help of the Gantt chart and providing the overall framework for the planned activity. The

In the initial stage of developing the project plan for the Jointing technology, it is the most

important factor to deliver all the necessary details for how the entire task will be aligned as per

meeting the demands of the project.

Plumbing work is done before any construction work is done. The workers will need 9 days for

this work.

3. Relevant steps for implementation
In order to determine and implement the steps, a wide range of techniques can be used. One such

tool is PRINCE2. The PRINCE2 model or Projects IN Controlled Environment is the technique

that is process based. This tool is used for an effective and efficient project management. The toll

is widely used by many private sectors. According to the PRINCE2 model, there are certain

parameters that one needs to follow. The very first step is to determine and plan the possible

outcomes and present a structured plan before initiating the project. The next and the most

significant part is to maintain and control the procedure. The next is to address all the loopholes

and consider the ending of the project. In a PRINCE2 model the project manager, consumer,

). Therefore, in this stage the organization has to know about the proper quality

in this stage only. For trace heating, it is necessary that pipe should be insulated thermally for

retaining heat loss. The heat generation should be controlled by the temperature of pipe. In

the organization has to be particular in buying those materials required for trace
heating. For trace heating, it is necessary to understand that pipes should include common stages

Maintaining temperature scale

In this stage the organization has to build up necessary structure for setting up trace heating. In

the initial stage the protection wall should be done. Here the engineers have to be posted in the

site to understand the proper plumbing technology. In this stage, interior plumbing has to be

4. Implementation of the plan

For success of any plan, it is necessary to understand how to utilize resources in a proper way. In

this way, the project manager can easily analyze how to direct the plan in a proper way. In recent

times extreme season is bringing down bad impacts. Trace heating is a technology that is

necessary all over the years. For installing an improved heat tracing process, it is necessary to

implement such ensured operation that can withstand any harsh weather conditions. If one is

unable to protect any industrial process properly, then it can cause damage to the equipment

(
Hermans et al., 2015). Therefore, proper safety measures have to be taken to prevent such
damage. Proper management of equipment is needed for better understanding of work process.

One has to understand the cost effectiveness of trace heating. Therefore, installing such

stoppage of power due to lack of thermodynamic engineering process. Weak control over

resources and lack of engineering process can cause a huge damage to the plant. It is necessary to

control in the process (

5. Project outcome
In this report, the main objective is to manage the project in a positive manner. Outcomes of the

project are defined as some changes or benefits that will be the resultant product. In this project,

it is necessary to find out necessary outcomes that are possible from the project. This heat tracing

market in recent times is cost effective. As it requires minimum maintenance cost, therefore,

people are implementing this kind of electric system. Since 19
th century, primary forms of
industrial heat are coming in form of tars, waxes. This is termed as stream tracing. Around 70%

of industrial heat is coming up form stream tracing. Therefore, this reliable method is used to

minimize this kind of industrial stream tracing. One also has to understand, that this kind of

tracing system is comparatively less costly. The installation and operative methods of this tracing

system is also very easy. As there are no exposed circuits therefore, there is no chance of risk in

this kind of tracing system. This kind of system aims to reduce heat loss and control temperature

in the plant (
Lund et al., 2017). This system nowadays is utilized as freeze protection also. For
high voltage plant, this kind of system will ensure such kind of power operation that can prevent

any kind of electric shock. Therefore, for commercial purposes this type of heat tracing system

can be helpful. Jointing Tech is one of the leading names in electrical infrastructure. Therefore,

the products of this organization are to prevent society due to lack of power supply. This

organization always aims to produce products that have proper tapes, earthing and cable fibers.

So it is hopeful the impact can bring positive effect in power control.

6. Critical evaluation of own- management abilities

The project plan provided above determines the ideas and objectives of the overall

developmental plan. This management plan describes the segmented functions and processes of

the project. My colleagues and peers have reported my project and these advices and suggestions

have been a lesson.

Peer Feedback
According to my peers, the overall idea of the project is transparent and approachable; however,

there are certain limitations of the project which one needs to consider. One of my peers noted

that the work breakdown structure was quite fair and rational but on a realistic approach the work

breakdown structure was not followed. This was one of the principle issues resulting in
disruption of certain sectors of the project.

Another issue that has been observed by one of my peers is that the initial budget of the project

exceeded with a considerable difference. This issue led to degradation of other necessary

segments of the project.

One of my colleagues reviewed the overall quality of the project, the availability of the resources

and raw materials and the quality of labor was abundant, however, the coordination among the

workers and the leadership quality of the management was highly flawed which affected the

quality of the project.

Another colleague also noted the loophole in the risk strategy and the issues regarding the

segregating the investors. For any project, it is necessary to assess the possible risks and

strategies and in this project, the possible risks were not addressed properly. This might affect

the overall project and the business process.

Strength and weakness
According to the peers, the overall idea and approach of the project was appreciable, however,

there were certain limitations of the project, which affected the project.

Strengths:

The quality and amount of the resources and raw materials were good, along with this; the

machineries were updated and maintained in order to avoid any kind of disruption. The initial

blueprint of the project was noteworthy. Therefore, according to my peers, I am quite responsible

and have a realistic approach. The work breakdown structure was transparent and all the

parameters like finance, operations and management of labor were discussed in detail. Along

with this, the selection procedures of the workers were just and according to their capabilities,

therefore the quality of the work done in the project was above average. According to them, I am

quite responsible and steady.

Disadvantages:
The most significant disadvantage of this project is time management. The process did not

function according to the work breakdown structure. There have been severe delays and the

process while 30 percent of the work was done, because of lack of finances the project was shut

down for about a week. My peers believe that I was quite naïve and due ot lack of experience I

did not consider the key parameters. Along with this, the finances were much higher as

compared to the presented ones. The expected expenditure was far below the actual cost. The

project blueprint did not include the expenses based on the current economy of the nation. The

next issue that has been observed is that the possible risk factors that the organization might

witness have been overlooked. The risk factors presented in the blueprint of the project is quite

vague and therefore might affect the project.
