Topic: “Implementing CSR activities within company with an aim to meet sustainable
objectives”
Background of study:
CSR plays vital role in companies and enables to develop positive perception within
people. So as to reach out desired goals, management requires understanding satisfaction level of
customers (Lins, Servaes and Tamayo, 2016). Identical goods services are offered to customers
by the business organisation. Regarding to be improved and effective firms make use of
strategies to attain sustainable development. With this respect, one of the effective way to attain
sustainable development is through CSR. It is essential to understand the importance of CSR as it
improves and increases the rate of profitability. For conducting research in efficient way,
Charlotte hotel is been selected (Servaes and Tamayo, 2013). It will cover the importance of
CSR to the firm and its link with attaining sustainable development.
Aim:
“To understand the role of activities related to CSR in order to accomplish sustainable
development: A study on Charlotte street hotel”
Objectives:
 To gain knowledge regarding the usefulness of CSR in this modern world.
 To determine the relationship between sustainable development and CSR activities. To recommend ways to attain sustainable development with the help of CSR activities.

Cost: In order to complete the project in includes cost that enables to make sure that all
the activities included in it can be effectively completed.

Communication: There are many individuals who are involved and all there should be

essential for firm in the modern era. Further, there are 3 of employees who do not agree with it.
Overall findings, suggest that management needs to consider the activities related to CSR and
make necessary implementation so that they will be able to attain sustainable development.
There several organisations, who provide identicial goods and services which are need to
consider the policies and make changes in their services as per the type of CSR policies that are
being implemented. More and more people will inform about the type of services which are
offered by the firm and this will increase brand image.

Description: As per the findings from the questionnaire, it can determine that there are
about 5 of the employees out of 10 who think that there is link between CSR and sustainable
development. Further, there are 2 of the workers who are not sure whether there is link. In
addition to this, 3 employees think that there is not relation between these two. For the overall
findings, it can be stated that management should put more emphasis over implementation of
CSR. This will enable the firm to achieve sustainable development. For example, in case, cited
firm provides fund in charity, then this enable to improve perception of customers towards the
kind of goods that are being offered by the companies. This way with CSR, sustainable

workers who think that within firm, CSR is not important. Moreover, there are 6 of the

organization. Companies develop positive perception when they are not being able to gain more
information about the products that are offered by the firm. There are different way that can

them child labour is the main issues. In addition to this, 2 of the employees think women right to
be the main issue. Over all findings suggest that management should understand that issues that
are being faced by employees in the organization as majority of people think that it is the main
issue. Employees assist in formulating direct relationship with consumers by making interactions
with them. If they are not provided with effective organisation work environment, than it will
become a drawback for them which eventually result in demotivation and job dissatisfaction
among the employees of the corporations

think that by organizing charity CSR practices can be initiated. It is identified that 2 workers who
consider that by providing financial support will be helpful enough to implemented in CSR.
Lastly, there are 3 employees who think that with the help of voluntary organization,
implementation of CSR initiatives is possible. Overall data suggest that employees think that by
implementing charitable event will be helpful to get proper support form customers and when the
strategies that are provided by employees is implemented. This will also help to develop positive
perception within the mind of workers.

Description: There are two of the employees who think that all the decision related to
implementation of CSR. Further, there are 1 employee, as per their perception, the decision
related to implementation of CSR is taken by HR department. However, lastly, there are 7 of the
employees, as per their perception the decision related to CSR implementation is taken up by
administration. From this it can be stated that the main authority is considered to be
administration and they have to understand that important of CSR and make proper analysis with
the help of which appropriate strategies can be implemented related to CSR. Further, workers

Description: As per the recommendation that are provided by employees it can be stated
that employees are favour in relation with NCO. More specifically, there are 5 of them who are
think, NCO will be helpful for implementation of CSR. Further, there is 1 employee who think
that implementation of CSR is possible with the help of introducing new department. Further,
there are 3 of the workers, as per the perception management should implement CSR by
foundation trust. However, NCO is a qualified step that can be implemented through which
management can implemented CSR in an effective way which result in developing positive

In order to conduct the research qualitative strategies is being used and mean, medium
and mode are used when quantitative strategies is selected and so that these are not being used in
this research.
P5. Tools and techniques used for research and collection of data
Secondary analysis: According to Taylor, Bogdan and DeVault, (2015) there are
different type of activities that are being planned within the organization and these are done in
order to ensure that the graph of sales and profitability can be increased. Further, there are
particular set of perception that are evolved by people and the activities need to be prepared. This

stated that Corporate social responsibility initiative firm can easily build good image in market
and it can easily survive in competitive market. Apart from this firm can trained its employees
and encourage them to initiate in Corporate social responsibility activities in order to make good
reputation in market. It is very effective for the firm in gaining financial sustainability because
customers like to buy products of those organizations who took participate in Corporate social
responsibility activates. There are different kind of Corporate social responsibility activities such
as environment protection, women empowerment, health and safety of employees etc. Firm can
focus on making environmental friendly product for customers so that it can easily prevent
environment.
To conduct the study in a systematic manner so as to gain accurate and reliable results,
proper tools and techniques of research are required to be used by the scholar. It is important to
apply appropriate methods depending on the nature of study so as to attain set research aim and
objectives (Flick, 2015). Validity and feasibility of the study is justified with the use of these
techniques only and at the same time, it proves to be highly beneficial for fulfilling the aim of
research. To implement CSR activities within organization to achieve sustainable objectives in
Charlotte street hotel, methods being used by the researcher are discussed as follows:
 Research design: It can be described as a framework under which the entire study is
being conducted. It can also be termed as a blueprint which involves all activities to be
performed so as to reach at the final conclusion and meeting the research aim and
objectives within stipulated time period. There are majorly four kinds of research
designs, that is, explanatory, descriptive, diagnostic and experimental (Mackey and
Gass, 2015). For the present research, descriptive research design will be used as the
topic is theoretical and does not involve any mathematical calculations. With the help
of this research design, researcher will be able to get in-depth information about the
topic and based on same, results will be achieved.
 Research approach: Research approach plays a crucial role in a study which helps in
testing the validity of assumptions made by researcher related to subject for
completing the research work. Deductive and inductive approach are the two research
approaches. For conducting the present study, inductive research approach will be
used (Panneerselvam, 2014). It is because; according to this, at first, specific
information based on implementing CSR activities within organization to achieve

sustainable objectives in Charlotte Street Hotel will be collected and then a general
conclusion will be made that can be applied on the firms of other sectors as well.
 Research philosophy: Research philosophy says about the variety of dimensions that
helps the researcher in conducting study in the best possible and feasible manner.
Interpretivism, Realism, Pragmatism and Positivism are the four kinds of research
philosophies that are being used by the scholar based on the nature of subject of study.
However, in the present research, Interpretivism philosophy will be used as under the
same, elements of study and way in which it integrates with interest of human beings
is discussed (Silverman, 2016). Also, one more reason of selecting this philosophy is
that several aspects of the research issue will be found through this that would help the
scholar in attaining accurate results of study.
 Data collection: It is considered to be the most important section of research as in this,
sources of gathering information based on subject of study are decided. Primary and
secondary are the two kinds of sources from where researcher gets data to be used to
make the final conclusion (Smith, 2015). However, in the present study, both; primary
as well as secondary sources of data collection will be used in order to implement
CSR activities within organization to achieve sustainable objectives in Charlotte Street
Hotel. Under secondary sources, different books, journals, online articles as well as
published material will be used from which plenty of information will be gathered by
the scholar and used in such a way that accurate and reliable results can be gained
(Neuman, 2016). On the other hand, under primary research, method of survey will be
used with the help of tool of questionnaire consisting of both; open and close ended
questions.
 Sampling – For the present research, i.e. on initiating corporate social responsibility
activities within organization to achieve viable goals in Charlotte Street Hotel, simple
random sampling technique will be used under which respondents for the sample will
be selected on random basis where every participant from the research universe, that
is, customers of Charlotte Street Hotel will have equal probability to get selected
(Taylor, Bogdan and DeVault, 2015). The sample size of respondents here will be 10
customers of Charlotte Street Hotel.

 Data analysis: Data analysis is basically done by two methods depending on the
nature of subject of study. These methods are qualitative and quantitative. In the
present study, as the topic is completely theoretical and does not require any
mathematical calculations, qualitative method will be used under which researcher
will apply tool of thematic analysis were different themes on the basis of the topic of
study will be framed and on the ground of their justification, final conclusion will be
made and appropriate recommendations would be given (Vaioleti, 2016). Thematic is
used as it is helpful enough to provide more appropriate answers for the research topic
and that is reason due to which analytical tools are not used.
 Ethical consideration: At the time of conducting research, it is crucial for the
researcher to perform all activities in an ethical manner. For this purpose, while
interviewing the respondents selected in sample, they must be informed prior asking
for information as well as data provided by them must not be used for any other
purpose. Details given by the respondents should be kept confidential and must not be
disclosed to any other third party as it should be used for the research purpose only.
P6. Conclusion and recommendations
It can be concluded from the above report that for Charlotte Street Hotel, corporate social
responsibilities play a significant role in making it successful and stay in market for longer span
of time. It has been assessed that in the present scenario, to beat the competitive and gain a
competitive edge over others, it is significant to perform CSR activities in such a way that
sustainable objectives will be attained. However, it has also been seen that employee safety is the
major issue being faced by Charlotte Street Hotel. Along with that, findings of the research are
showing that if proper CSR activities would not be performed by the organization, to make it
stay in the market for longer duration would not at all be possible. It has been assessed that
employee’s safety is the major issue in organization for which it needs to implement some CSR
policies. Also, organizing charity events every year under CSR activities would also prove to be
helpful for the firm to gain sustainability in operations. Therefore, to gain sustainable objectives
of Charlotte Street Hotel, it is significant to give due consideration on the CSR activities.
Below given are the recommendation that should be followed by the firm:

 Focus program should be identified and the issues that are faced within firm should
determined. When problems are identified and steps are taken to solve them, then it
becomes helpful to implement objectives to implement CSR within the organization.
 Employees should be provided with the opportunity to support the activities related to
CSR. This will enable to make them boosted up as performing same task again and again
will affect the employee's performance in negative manner. By providing them with
opportunity to take part in CSR activities will enable to encourage them and motivate
them so that their performance will increase. Organisation will able to increase their sales
by 5%. This is possible as employees can work with maximum determination to support
the firm.
 Further, products that are offered by the corporations should be environmental friendly.
This will lead to positive development in mental of customers.
 Workers to be given enough training and development which can improve their skills
regarding tools and techniques that are provided by the management. The employees fails
to increase in their performance because of lack in understanding of making use of
equipments or the roles that has to be performed by them. However, this will enable to
help them in improving their performance level and in raising their profitability and
growth of the firm. For example, when the rate of contribution make by employees before
training is 5%, then it will be become 8% after providing them with training.

P7. Reflection shows the value of the research undertaken to meet the goals of organisation
As per the proposal conducted, I have got to identify that there are many ways with the
help of which investigation can be carried out. However, there are many sets of issues that were
faced by me. In order to start up with the research, one need to make aim from which objectives
needs to be developed. This is helpful enough to reach out the goals and objectives of the firm.
Further, the activities are planned and then it includes the Gantt chart in which total time period
is decided in which determined activities are achieved. As per the set objectives, it is important
to collect proper information. For collection of information there are two different ways which
are primary and secondary source. In order to collect primary information, questionnaire was
collected. On the other hand to collect secondary data, book, journals, articles, etc. were used.
Both these sources enables in collecting relevant information. After collection of data, it is

essential to present in an effective manner. In order to do so, it required use of thematics. It
helped in presenting the collected data in form of tables, graphs, etc. all the analysis is made in
depth and it helped in developing understanding learning level. So as to investigate the plan
effectively, it also made use of qualitative and quantitative techniques. Further, there are several
types of modes and techniques that assist to make proper analysis of the data that is being
collected. I faced issues in making questionnaire as it has to be made as per the type of objectives
that are set. It enables to achieve the set objectives in an effective manner. When questionnaire is
filled up by employees, then it is important that they are being delivered with sufficient
information which can help them to understand the importance and main reason to collect the
research.
