INTRODUCTION
Managing a business project is the major concern for a firm. This helps in
effective planning of business operations and activities related to an organization.
Especially, in current market condition, promotional activities that are performed by firm
are the major contending counterpart for an organization. The present assessment
project performs evaluation of managing a marketing and product launching project by
Virgin Group, a UK based MNC.
The assignment will lay an important and effective planning of business
operations and action plans which will help in proper assessment of business activities.
The project report will lay an impact on setting aim and objectives, providing the work
breakdown structure and time frames. Extensive market research is conducted and
proper recommendations are given as well. Reflection is given for personal performance
review as well.

Background study
The present research is based on Virgin Group which was founded by Sir
Richard Branson. Virgin Group is one of the world's largest MNCs (Topor, 2017). In this
study, Virgin Group is going to launch or introduce new product (mobile phones) in the
market. This research will manage a product launch of mobile phones of Virgin Group
on the global scale. Launching a product on the worldwide level is a major concern and
thus requires effective planning of business operations (Brassett, 2018). Hence, this
study will lead the firm to have a good planning of various strategies which will improve
their effectiveness to carry out global product launching measures.
Aim:
“To manage a product launch of mobile phones of a MNC on the global scale - A
case study of Virgin Group”

and effective way. For the current research process, Virgin group has provided the
budget of £10,000 to execute research activities related to product launch.
Scope: Handling and improving the scope is a major factor of operations which is been
carried out within the organisation that will help in maintaining the business activities in
much suitable way. The launching of mobile phones on the global level will support the
firm to increase its scope on global level.
Time: The maintaining of a time frame and mile stone is also important for the business

2018). Besides this, providing effective time to each operation will help in improving
performance of the firm. The present product launch will take about 10 weeks approx. to
get executed successfully. The management of proper time frames will help
organisation to improve effective planning of business activities and guide the firm to
improve their quality of business activities and operations. It will also help the firm to
maintain sustainability of strategies related to product launching.
Quality: Maintaining quality is also a big concern for an enterprise. Virgin Group is
required to maintain its mobile phones quality that will help in improving the customer's
containment level and thus improve the sales of the handsets (Ghasolia, 2018). A High
quality can be set as a landmark for the company, paving out the path of launching the
product of Virgin group on global level.
Communication: Various communication measures are been taken within the selected
enterprise that will help in proper handling of product launching. It involves the
marketing an internal communication to ensure proper handling of business project.
This will include the interaction mediums like emails, notices and circulars top develop a

P4. Research methods
Research types: A research type is suitable distinguishing of a research process that is
been adopted by a scholar. A research type will determine the types of methods will be
chosen by a data analyst for research purpose. There are two types of researches:
Qualitative and Quantitative. The qualitative research involves the use of non-numeric,
transcript based information. On the other hand, Quantitative research involves the
assessment of numeric data and evidences. For current research process, the scholar
has used qualitative research type as in this research non numerical data and grounded
theory has followed by scholar.
Research approach: A research approach is the measure that is selected by scholar to
have a good level of operations and thus will lead the firm to enhance the proper

assessment and get result of observations made. There are basically two research
approaches: inductive and deductive approach. The current data assessment
operations will include inductive research approach which is selected due to choosing of
qualitative research type. As no existing theory or concept is involved in inductive
approach, it will help in improving the quality of data evaluation measures taken and
achieving the desired aims and objectives.
Research philosophy: The research philosophy can be termed as the nature or
development of knowledge. It will determine how the data will be collected for a
research activity. There are two major research philosophies, Positivism and
Interpretevism. The current research activity within Virgin group will look after the proper
adoption of Interpretivism research philosophy as it allows the scholar to use out diverse
approaches and improvement measures to perform in depth assessment to reflect all
the aspects and issues within Virgin Group.
Data collection: For carrying out the effective research process, suitable data
collection is very important. It is a process of gathering raw data that can be further
processed and evaluated by a scholar to gain suitable outputs. (Gilpin, 2018). There are
two sub categories of data collection operations respectively: Primary and Secondary.
The primary data collection involves the use of interviews, questionnaire and surveys
while the secondary sources involves the evaluation of existing research journals, books

is selected. It uses close ended questionnaire to get fresh and unique data for

of data from existing population and helps in gaining a good idea about business

Data analysis: After the collection of data using primary data collection method,
analysis or assessment is performed to find out the feasibility of the gained data and
objectives that are set for research purpose. It includes to variants: Thematic analysis
and SPSS. For present report, scholar has used thematic analysis as it helps the firm to
lead a good assessment of the operations and represent the outputs in a very
systematic way.
Validity and relability: In case of the present research process, maintaining the validity
and trustworthiness is a big concern for an scholar at Virgin Group. The scholar ihas
looked after proper assessment of correct and valid data in order to get a reliable output
of research process performed at Virgin Group.
Ethical considerations: Different ethics has been followed during the carrying out of
current research process. Foremostly, proper consent from respondents is been taken

Interpretation: A research process was performed at the MNC named Virgin Group for
the effective identification of product launching environment for its new product line.
Based on the data assessment process carried out at Virgin group for the product
development and market penetration it can be said that out of 20 respondents, about
majority of respondents are aware about the globalisation measures which are taken in

followed by the firm. The evaluation indicates that market conditions were supportive for
product launching and the promotional activities undertaken for the launched product
were influenced by globalisation measures of Virgin Group. Besides this, it was found

Various recommendations can be undertaken by data analyst at Virgin Group
that assists the firm to improve their effectiveness of product launching and lead the
organisation to improve its effectiveness in much effective way. Some major
recommendations that are been carried out by researcher for Virgin Group are as
follows:
From the above analysis, it is recommended by the researcher that, Small scale
penetration can be made in the new market in order to reduce the risk of financial
losses and gain a good management of their business operations related to
launching of Mobile Phones on global level (Animucka, 2015).
The above analysis indicates that the Virgin Group should use effective tools to
track the market conditions for successful launching of product such as PESTEL,
Porter' five force model and SWOT analysis.
The above primary data conducted by the researcher and scholar suggested
that, Proper data security and confidentiality of expansion plan should be
observed. This is important to maintain the intellectual property of the
organisation and should improve the quality of operations which will assist the
organisation to meet the aims and objectives effectively.
Scholar suggested that Virgin Group should conduct market research. It is
because effective market research and ongoing mobile technology trends can
help Virgin group to improve chances of successful product launching of
international level.
From the above analysis, investigator recommended that Virgin group should
introduce the product in market properly so that buyers are attracted as well as it
also improves the sales.

Based on the extensive data assessment and interpretation value that is been

on global level. This research helped me to improve my perception towards the data
assessment and evaluation process related to expanding business on global level. On
the basis of these data assessment I can say that the launching of new products i.e.
mobile phones on the global level ion various new markets will functionally and
effectively prove out to be beneficial for the Virgin group. It will not only help the firm to
meet the operational needs of the organisation but also help the organisation to
maintain its productivity. I found that the globalisation measures are vital and key factor
to meet the set objectives of research process and improves productivity and revenue
generation of the firm. During the assessment process, I got the chance to improve my
communication, analytical and management skills and get the knowledge about the
impact laid by globalisation and international product launching on operation of the
organisation.
CONCLUSION
The above study concluded that there are various strategies and planning
required for introducing new product in the market. Depending on the above findings, it
was summarised that the international marketing measures are required to improve the
quality of operations performed by Virgin Group. The output of research process that is
been performed indicates that proper product launching and market penetration can be
carried out using globalisation measures was concluded from the above findings.
Besides this, the study also stated that it is very important that staff of organization
should be well aware about product launching measures undertaken by the company.
