Installing the hard drive
The hard disk drive or the hard drive could be described as the electro mechanical
device of data storage where the magnetic storage is used for storing as well as retrieving the
digital data with the help of one or even more stiff speedily rotating the platters that are
coated with the magnetic material. It is commonly installed internally in the computers, and
are linked directly to disk controller of motherboard of the computer. The writing of data is
done to platters with the help of magnetic head that moves swiftly over them as it spins. It
comprises of one or even additional platters, that are housed within the air sealed casing.
The common process to install any hard drive is similar but accurate stages and the
sequences of the steps mainly varies based on the kind of the drive that is being installed, that
could be PATA or even SATA along with the specifications of the case. The most common
stages that are needed for installing the hard drive are listed as:
Drive is required to be configured as the slave or the master device
Mounting of drive in the chasis is done
Data cable is required to be connected to drive and then to the SATA
Connecting power cable to drive is done. Prior removing case panels for
installing the hard drive:
o Restarting PC system is required to be done and then BIOS setup is
required to be executed. Note that the present configuration that SATA
and ATA ports are in being used and description of devices that have
been linked with them. Instead, the diagnostic program is required to
be used like the Everest Home Edition for determining the present
configuration of the interfaces as well as the drives.

If the SATA or PATA interface card is being installed or the RAID adapter is
being installed, it is required that the card is properly configured according to
the instruction of the makers and then attach all the cables to that. If that card
would substitute some or all fixed SATA interfaces, the CMOS setup is
required to be used for disabling the interfaces.
