INTRODUCTION
Marketing is defined as the process of gathering in formation about customers needs, demands
and preference and provide them suitable product and service in order to enhance business sales
and productivity. There are various platforms are used by the organisation to promote respective
products and services such as advertisement, promotions, direct selling and social media
marketing. For effective marketing, it is necessary to communicate the information of right
person in right manner at right time that creates value for customers and help business to enhance
brand image in competitive market place. In this report the chosen organisation is Barclay plc
that is British multinational bank establish in 1690. Headquarter of bank is situated in London,
England, UK. It is the public limited company that provides financial services to customers. in
this report role of marketing functions in organisational context and in marketing environment is
discussed. Marketing mix, marketing tactics and marketing plan is being covered in this project
report.
TASK
P1 Roles and responsibility of marketing functions
Marketing plays important role to enhance organisational sales and satisfying customer through
providing better quality products and services. Better understanding of marketing functions
facilitates to formulates business strategies that help to attain all defined goals and objectives.
There are various marketing functions which are performed by the Barclay plc such as promoting
business products and services, selling, product management, product pricing, distribution and
management of marketing management (Antoniades and Mohr, 2019). All these marketing
functions help respective bank to accomplish all goals and objectives. Some role and
responsibility of marketing function of mentioned below:
Identify customer requirement: Marketing plays important role to examine customer’s needs
and demand as well as provide better quality products and services to satisfy them in effective
manner. It is the main function of marketing activities to identify potential customer and satisfy
all needs and demands in order to retain them with Barclay plc for long period of time (Boozalis
and Patel, 2018). There are various market research is conduct by the respected bank such as
surveys, direct marketing and questionnaire to understand customers.

Lead organisation towards growth and development: Marketing activities facilitates
organisation to attract potential customers and retain them with organisation for long period of
time that enhance the market share of Barclay plc bank. Through launching various social media
and digital marketing campaigns, bank evaluate all current marketing trends and satisfy
customers by offering better services that ensures growth and development of Barclay plc.
Provided competitive advantages: In current dynamic environment, businesses face
high competition that impacts on organisational growth and survival. Marketing functions
facilitates the Barclay plc to understand all trends and competitors or their policies that help to
develop effective business strategies and planning (Borg, 2020). Barclay plc bank offers better
services and enhance customers knowledge through promotions that help to retain potential
customers as well as provides various competitive advantages than others.
Increase profitability ratio and meet customer’s demand: Marketing functions of
business plays important role in enhancing organisational profitability through offering new and
innovative products and services. Barclay plc designs all polices according to customer’s
requirements that builds better image in market and enhance sales. The main role of marketing s
to satisfy customers through identify their needs and requirements. Barclay plc research whole
market than formulate policies that creates value for customers.
P2 Roles of marketing in organisational context
In business various marketing mediums are used such as direct marketing, digital marketing and
promotions that help to enhance organisational sales and profitability ratio. Barclay plc bank
formulates effective marketing strategies that facilitates the organisation to attract potential
customers and retain them with organisation for long run (Chahine and Malhotra, 2018). In an
organisation marketing is required at every stage in order to run in efficient manner or all
business functions are interrelated to each other. All these functions are defined below:
Human resource and marketing: Human resource department consist various activities
such as recruit suitable candidate at right time. It is related to welfare of employees and
providing them training and development. Marketing department is interrelated to HR
department to hire appropriate employees in marketing and provide them training so they can
perform all functions efficiently. For the vacant positions, Barclay plc conduct various
advertisements to attract potential customers.
